Her exit triggers a bi-election in the Safe Coalition seat, shaping up as a tight four-way battle between the Liberals, Nationals, One Nation, and Independent Michelle Milthorpe. Lay stepped down from leadership on February 13th, with Angus Taylor stepping in amid tough opinion polls. She cited her 25 years in politics, including launching a federal royal commission on anti-Semitism and shaping policies on tax, energy, national security, and families. The vote is already the first major test of Taylor's grip on the coalition.
