Lessons I Learned From a $4.3M Auto Accident Verdict

About this episode

In 2021, I had the privilege of representing a 25 year old woman whose life was changed when she was catastrophically injured by a drunk driver who crossed a double yellow line and hit her head on.

Here are five lessons I learned during the trial of that case:

  1. Don't let the defense derail your mission!
  2. Catching them in a lie is an art form (and a lot of fun)
  3. Listen for small details in testimony and learn how to not ask every question
  4. Learn when to back off the throttle and bulletproof your verdict
  5. It's nice to have an audience

Our $4.3M verdict include $1M in punitive damages, which we believe is a record in Virginia for a drunk driving auto accident case.
