Leka's Journey: From Abuse to Raleigh Home

0:00Reporting from the Daily News, now, I'm Corey, with the latest in Durham, a five-year-old Chihuahua pug mixed named Leca just made it from Albania to a foster home in Raleigh, North Carolina. This 13-pound pup endured severe abuse before an international rescue effort brought him stateside on Monday through Freedom Ride Rescue. All. Local, non-profit. He's already neutered, microchipped, and has a dog passport ready for his new start. Leca's tough past included beatings from his owners, being slammed into walls, and living in mud without steady food. He spent seven months surviving on the streets until a salon took him in, and an Albanian shelter stepped up with vet care. Rescue founder Molly Dahl says despite it all, Leca has a sweet side when he feels safe. He opens up for affection, play, and gets along great with dolls and cats. He loves soft beds and walks nicely on a leash. The effort came together fast when an Albanian shelter reached out about his abused history.
