Leighton Meester Reveals Blair's Return in Gossip Girl Sequel

The actress, famous for playing Blare Waldorf, read the first seven chapters that the publishers send her ahead of time. Written by Cecilie von Zegasar, the novel comes out in 2027 from Grand Central Publishing and centers on her character. The story picks up 20 years after the original book series. She follows a middle A's Blare Waldorf returning to Manhattan, trying to climb back into the high society world she once ruled. This marked Blare's first big literary comeback since the 2009 book where she headed to college and split from Nate. Meister shared her thoughts while promoting her new film, Basic at South by Southwest. She called the project Cool and confirmed it is definitely hitting shelves as a book.
