Investigators caught wind of it back in December 2025 when Target's lost prevention team spotted an open lego box missing key pieces and called them in. Surveillance footage nailed him as the culprit and they say his scheme wrecked the toys so bad Target couldn't resell any of them. This hit Target hard financially since those returned sets were basically trash now, feeding into a hot secondary market for lego parts that drives.
