Leah Wilcox Honored with Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award

0:00It's March 6th for the NBA. Let's get into it. The Naysmith basketball hall of fame just named Leo Wilcox as the recipient of the 2026 John W. Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award. This honor goes to coaches, players, and contributors who have made a big mark on basketball at every level, from high school to pros and international play. It's named after John Bunn, the hall's first chairman, and stands as the top award outside of enshrinement itself. Wilcox serves as vice president and commissioners office liaison at the NBA after years as vice president of player and talent relations. She's the first African-American woman to hold that vice president title, with a 40-year career full of influence behind the scenes. Her work has touched countless lives through mentorship and advocacy, building strong ties with NBA legends and their families. She helped launch groups like mothers of professional basketball players, and a similar one for fathers, guiding families through the league's world, and boosting charity efforts. Wilcox

Beyond player relations, she served on the NBA Legacy Board and health screening programs, earning nods like sports illustrated list of top, influential African-Americans in sports back in 2003.
