US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll resigned yesterday following months of clashes with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Much of that friction is understood to have stemmed from Hegseth's slashing of the army's most senior leaders. For many, Driscoll's departure is no surprise, but it leaves the military without another combat-tested leader at what some see as a time of maximum peril.
