Lamar Jackson GETS CRYPTIC on social media, Baltimore Ravens FURTHER LINKED to Maxx Crosby

2:00Thank you as well on today's show. Lamar Jackson got extremely cryptic on social media with just one emoji and a gift. And we're going to talk about what it means, but also just like if the Lamar thing does get done, how it could really help Baltimore here be major players, even more than they can be already. Then we'll also dive into the Ravens being further linked to Max Crosby, which is exciting. And so all this stuff like, like I said, Baltimore is buzzing right now. So let's just dive into it here. And this is such a scary time and for agency because look, I want this Lamar thing to get done as quickly as possible. But I could be recording this and then bull news breaks or this show comes out. And it's live at 6 p.m. Bull news breaks at 6.05. Like it's such a fluid situation. And that's part of the thrill of it, right? But anything can happen at any given time. And of course, what it does will again have you covered. But Lamar Jackson at about 2 p.m. on Friday, just out of nowhere, put out a cryptic post.

3:01And it was a smiley face emoji with Denzel Washington from training day, the him going boom. And everyone is like, Oh, what could this mean? And then Sarah Ellison actually pointed out from the vault. She made the comparison the last time because we all know Lamar in his extension situation. The Ravens are either going to do that or just kick the can down the road. That's been made very clear. And Sarah made the point that a couple of days before Lamar signed his extension in 2023. In fact, two days before Lamar posted a cryptic tweet with sponge Bob with a smiling face emoji. And today he did the same thing with the training day and the same smile emoji. So everyone's trying to put two and two together and be like, OK, is this the more Jackson extension really about the happen? It would free up a monumental amount of cap space for the Baltimore Ravens if it were to happen. And the Ravens already have cap space available to have about 19 at the time of this recording. Things, you know, are very fluid with the whole situation there.

4:05But this would give the Ravens so much added flexibility. This is the ideal scenario for the Ravens as if they can get this thing done with Lamar before the start of fragency. And they don't have to go and kick this can down the road for an extra season. And Brian McFarland who we've had on this show many times, Brian's awesome Ravens salary cap. He knows everything about the Ravens salary cap situation. He just NFL salary cap in general. He went on with Sam and Joku who we had on this morning as we talked about AJ Brown. But he went on the Ravens talk podcast with Sam and talked about the potential of the Lamar extension freeing up, depending on how they structure it anywhere from 20 million, 30 million, 40 million dollars of cap space for this team. And in off season where they have been linked the big time names like AJ Brown and Max Crosby. And we'll get to Crosby in the second part of the show with the new information there. But there are also a lot of other for Asians that they have to kind of figure out, OK, do they want to bring in a better and pass rusher like a tray Hendrix in that costs a lot of money. You know, obviously they have their own guys.

5:06They want to re-sign like tire lender bomb the extension for Lamar. The erratic load free up money for them where flinder bomb saying, I want 22 23 24 at every million dollars even 25. If the Ravens want to go that high, they would have more of a means to do so. So there's a huge domino effect from this. And again, as Brian noted with Sam, they can kick the can down the road, free up the money and kind of have that situation, but then you're just kind of deferring it. And then with Lamar, his cap it would be $10 million higher next season at about $85 million. And of course, you can't really work with that either. So at that point, like if you get it done here, if there is something done, it's huge news because you're knocking out a bunch of different things. So I'm really excited for this. Now this could mean a lot of different things too. Obviously everyone myself included is hoping it could be an extension. It could mean something with tire lender bomb. It could mean something with Max Crosby. It could also mean absolutely nothing, right?

6:06That's the, I guess the beauty of this is we don't know what it means. But kind of putting the tea leaves together and figuring everything out. This would be monumental for the Ravens this off season. I think for me personally, but every day this is going on. I was losing more and more hope that they were going to get something done. I was pretty confident at the beginning of the off season. They were going to figure it out. But we're just a couple days away from the start of the tampering period on Monday. And you know, this could be a buzzer beater deal that really helps out the Ravens this off season with a lot of different situations. So again, I'm hoping for the best tier. We don't necessarily know what it means or what it doesn't mean. But we do know Lamar Jackson likes to get cryptic on social media. And I think he posted some screenshot. It might have been a couple of years ago at this point where he's like, I'm just going to post a random gift on Twitter and see how people respond or something. I'm not sure it's that like. There's a lot of people are saying right now. I think this actually could be something here. And I am going to hope that it is.

7:08And if it is, we'll be back covering it here on locked on Ravens. But we do know that with the Ravens situation right now, how important of an off season this is, especially to plug up the holes that they do have on the offensive line in the past rushing department, getting that money for Lamar Jackson giving Lamar an extension that he deserves. And you know, figuring everything else out is you can now have that added flexibility. Would be absolutely. Keep saying it being credible. So we'll keep an eye on it here is things can change in an instant. And if this does happen again, where if Lamar tweets the smiley face emoji and a gift, and then he signs an extension. Well, if he signs a third one with the Ravens, we all know what to look for the next time around or next time good news happens for the Ravens. But let's now dive into the Ravens and Max Crosby as there has been a lot of rumblings about Max Crosby. Does he want to stay unless Vegas is going to leave and go somewhere else via trade. Well, there was a report in the Ravens have already been named as a team that are keeping tabs on him. But Diana Rossini over at the athletic the senior NFL insider over there. Put out a report in the morning on Friday today that said quote Max Crosby is drawing serious interest around the league. The Dallas Cowboys are closely monitoring the situation are main very interested while the Baltimore Ravens are also a team to watch.

12:16GM's believe the Las Vegas Raiders are willing to work on deal. This would be huge for the Ravens and be absolutely incredible. There are a lot of other factors to situate here though for trying to situate everything you have to figure a few things here one. The draft capital that Max Crosby is reportedly going to go for in a trade if the trade does happen is unprecedented to what the Ravens have ever done. It would be at least one first round pick probably more rumblings or that maybe it could be two first round picks for Max Crosby. And with Baltimore having the 14th pick maybe they can get away with just giving one because other teams that are potentially interested have higher picks than that and so they're less valuable. But even still we know how good of a pass rusher max Crosby is we know how he would transform this Ravens defense. And a lot of people are worried about the contract number for Crosby but it's not like AJ Brown situation again we talk about that this morning with Sam and Joku and kind of how that would work. Crosby spell track tweeted out something that said if it comes to ahead a team acquiring edge max Crosby will be able to process a simple salary conversion on this contract that will drop his acquired cap hit from 30.7 million dollars down to 7.73 million dollars which would again give the Ravens an incredible pass rusher a V guy which the Ravens have not had for a while at the pass rusher department.

13:41And you would also still have the flexibility to go out there and add another positions because for me the whole thing with Crosby is like I would love him in Baltimore. But if it just means that you're getting Crosby and nothing else this off season and you're filling in the rest of the roster with rookies not in the 14th pick because that that probably be going to Vegas or you know you have to sign a bunch of that men guys. Well it's Crosby but you need other positions as well so if not trading for Crosby meant that okay you can get trade Hendrickson and a guy like Kevin Zitler or Wyatt Teller or a good offensive diamond or two and you could bring in a quality wide receiver and you have the 14th pick to add into this equation. Well the second option probably gives you a better shot even though Crosby is out of all of those guys the better player but if Crosby comes and you're able to do that to drop his cap hit down and you can get Crosby yes you probably give up the 14th pick in the scenario but then you also have the added flexibility with the potential of the more Jackson extension that hopefully comes on the pipeline here maybe it already has by the time you're listening to watching this because that's just how things go here but with that added flexibility it would be incredible and look we know that for Crosby who he is as a player he's been Mr. consistent he's had he's had injuries that have banged him up over the course of his career but not in the not in the sense of like oh he's missed seasons with them you know he played in a full slate of games I mean he's someone that

15:08past couple of years has not done that but prior to that had a pretty good track record is staying healthy in terms of playing in games now he's never had a season in his career he started in 2019 out there in Vegas I guess that was the last year of the Oakland Raiders but still he had 10 sacks his rookie season he's never had a season below seven sacks never even I mean look in 12 games he has seven and a half sacks in 2024 and three and last four seasons he has had double digit sacks including a career high 14 and a half into the game. 2020 23 he is dominant you have to pay attention to him and man I'm just I'm thinking of it like Crosby might green and then hopefully non beat comes back and you can factor him into the equation and he Travis Jones and all these guys and these people's maybe in a bigger role like that's awesome and then maybe you can add a rookie to that equation or another you know older veteran to that equation that isn't going to cost a lot of money and all of a sudden your past rush goes from being one of the biggest weaknesses on your team and the biggest weakness on your defense to maybe the

16:08strength of your defense can depending on what happens there so Crosby would be a dream especially if they're able to get him under or just get the cap hit in a manageable space and the money in a reasonable space for him but again I think you're just going to come down to how much are the Raiders asking and our teams willing to pay more than the Ravens or but this is now the second time the Ravens have been linked to Max Crosby in some official form and that means there's something to me so I'm excited to see how it all plays out but that's all I have to say.
