It's Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, and we're looking at a prime spring day on the water, clear skies with temperatures climbing to the mid-70s my afternoon, light suddenly breeze around 5 to 10 miles per hour, keeping things calm. Sunrise hit at 6.45 am, sunsets coming at 8.10 pm, giving us a solid 13 plus hours of daylight to chase them. No tides up here in these Ozark Hills, but that new moon phase is stirring things up, with bass forecast warning of a bass NATO alert, fish getting aggressive on this warm up trend.

1:03Bass activities hot right now, they're pushing into shallow a cove's post spawn, hitting reaction baits hard. Local reports from last week show limits of large moth up to 5 pounds, some small moth in the 3 to 4 range, and crappy stacks pulling 15 to 20 fish per boat on the beds. Strippers are schooled up deep near the dam, with a few hybrids mixing in, anglers pulling 10 to 20 pounders trolling live shad. Catfish are bidding too, blues and channels grabbing cut bait off the bottom. For lures, go fast on these warm and days, spinner baits in white chartreuse, crank baits like the Strike King 5 XD Diven 1215 feet, or swim baits matching shad patterns. Slow it down if it cools, jerk baits are ned rigs on finess. Best live bait? Threadfin shad or minnows for bass and strippers, worms or crappy nibbles for slabs, chicken livers killing cats after dark.
