Labour Councillors Switch to Greens in Lewisham

The Luisham Greens now stand as one of the largest green groups in the country, with 3,000 members. Labor officials express disappointment, noting residents voted for them on a labor platform focused on affordable housing, cost of living support, high street investments, and climate action. They stress their ongoing commitment to those priorities. The defecting counselors cited clashes with national labor policies on austerity, welfare cuts, and the situation in Gaza as key reasons. They see the Greens as offering stronger plans for inequality, local housing, jobs, and a greener economy.
