About this episode

Kim Kardashian endorses Update, a caffeine-free energy drink featuring paraxanthine, a natural compound that may offer caffeines benefits without the crash, jitters, or overstimulation. It's March 18th. Let's get into entertainment and celebrity news. Kim Kardashian is promoting a new caffeine-free energy drink called Update. It uses Parexanthine, a natural byproduct your body makes when it breaks down caffeine. The brand claims this skips the usual crash, jitters, and overstimulation from regular energy drinks. Each 350ml can pack 300mg of Parexanthine. Parexanthine makes up over 70% of what your liver turns caffeine into. It blocks the same brain receptors as caffeine to boost alertness, but early research hints it might be less toxic. In rats, it takes much higher doses to cause harm compared to caffeine, around 830mg per kilogram versus 300. Animal studies back this up. Rats giving caffeine long-term showed signs of overstimulation, my too much grooming in activity, plus smaller organs and higher cholesterol. Those on Parexanthine acted more normal with healthier metabolic signs and no organ

shrinkage. Human trials are smaller but promising. Parexanthine raised blood pressure less than caffeine and improved detention and memory and tests, with few side effects over a week. The drink also has 315mg of alpha-GPC for brain support and L-theanine for calmer focus, so sucralose raises some, metabolic questions. Overall, Parexanthine seems to mimic caffeine's perks with potentially fewer downsides, but most data comes from caffeine studies, not direct use. More long-term human research is needed to see if it's truly better for energy drinks. D&N is sponsored by our partner. Check out the episode description. Some people meditate.
