Kim English's Providence Coaching Tenure Ends

0:00On March 6, reports this week indicate that Kim English is stint as Providence College men's basketball head coach will wrap up after this season. The friars have just one regular season game remaining. On Saturday at Georgetown, followed by the Big E's tournament next week in New York City. English took over in March 2023, stepping in after Ed Cooley left for Georgetown. English brought solid experience, having led George Mason the prior two years, and served as an assistant at Tennessee before that. As a player, he started Missouri with double-digit scoring averages, and earned all Big 12 honors, then played briefly in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls. Fans in the program saw promise early on, with standout wins over Wisconsin, number 6 Marquette, and Creighton twice that first year. Providence finished 21 and 14 overall, going 10 and 10 in Big E's play their strongest mark under English. A tub low came when star Bryce Hopkins tore his ACL in January 2024, sidelineing him for the rest of the season.
