Story Transcript:
En: In the middle of a hot summer, when the sunbeams dance on the old building in the center of Ljubljana, we found a story unfolding in the hallways and garden of the institution for children without parents.
En: This institution had been home to Tadej and Nina for many years.
Sl: Tadej, starejši brat z občutkom odgovornosti, in Nina, njegova mlajša sestra, sta delila sobo v zgornjem nadstropju, kjer ponoči luna svetli skozi majhno okno.
En: Tadej, the older brother with a sense of responsibility, and Nina, his younger sister, shared a room in the upper floor, where at night the moonlight streamed through the small window.
En: It was August, approaching the festival of the Assumption of Mary, and the institution was as lively as ever.
Sl: Otroški smeh in kriki so odmevali po hodnikih in v majhnem vrtu.
En: Children's laughter and shouts echoed through the hallways and in the small garden.
En: But for Tadej, this was a difficult time.
En: He had heard that the home was overcrowded and that there was a possibility he and his sister might be separated.
En: Thus, he began to worry about how they could stay together.
En: One morning, when the sun was at its highest, a couple came to the institution showing interest in Nina.
Sl: Tadejeva srčna bolečina je bila globoka.
En: Tadej's heartache was deep.
Sl: Kako bi lahko pustil svojo sestrico?
En: How could he leave his little sister?
Sl: "Ne še," si je mislil.
En: "Not yet," he thought.
Sl: Tadej si je ob prvem srečanju z možnim parom opogumil.
En: Tadej mustered his courage upon first meeting the prospective couple.
Sl: "Boste vzele tudi mene?
En: "Would you take me too?"
Sl: " je vprašal z negotovostjo v glasu, ko je sedel pred parom.
En: he asked with uncertainty in his voice, sitting in front of the couple.
En: Nina sat beside him, her tiny face hidden behind his.
En: Tadej found it hard to speak, but he knew he had to be brave for both of them.
Sl: "Nina in jaz sva skupaj najmočnejša.
En: "Together, Nina and I are the strongest.
En: We cannot be separated," he added, his voice both firm and pleading.
Sl: Par je poslušal z zanimanjem in sočutjem.
En: The couple listened with interest and compassion.
Sl: Njune besede so bile prijetne, a nedorečene.
En: Their words were pleasant but inconclusive.
Sl: "Razmislili bomo," sta odgovorila.
En: "We'll think about it," they replied.
Sl: To je pustilo Tadeja in Nino v negotovosti, a z majhno iskrico upanja.
En: This left Tadej and Nina in uncertainty, but with a small spark of hope.
Sl: Čez nekaj dni, prav na praznik, je par spet prišel v zavod in tam našel Tadeja in Nino v vrtu, kjer sta se igrala.
En: A few days later, just on the festival day, the couple came back to the institution and found Tadej and Nina in the garden where they were playing.
Sl: "Odločila sva se," sta rekla počasi.
En: "We've decided," they said slowly.
Sl: "Vzela bova oba za nekaj časa.
En: "We'll take both of you for a while.
En: You can stay together, and we'll see how we all get along."
Sl: "Tadejeva srce je bilo polno olajšanja in upanja.
En: Tadej's heart was full of relief and hope.
En: He realized the power of his voice, while Nina began to believe that her brother's care could indeed bring miracles.
En: And in that moment, when the warm August breeze rustled through the trees, brother and sister knew they were no longer alone in this world.
En: And so, the wheel of fate began to turn onward, slowly but with a clear step forward into the future.
En: Sometimes, hope is the only light we see, and love the path that guides us forward.
