Kate Hudson Discovers Neil Diamond's Music

Kate Hudson recently shared that she had never really listened to Neil Diamond's music before, starring in the new film, Song Sung Blue. In the movie, she plays Claire Sardina, part of a real-life couple who perform as a Neil Diamond tribute act, called Lightning and Thunder. Hudson grew up just 15 minutes from Diamond's home in Colorado, but never crossed paths with him or his family. Her music tastes back then lean toward 1990s, acts like Radiohead and a tribe called Quest, so Diamond was not on her playlist. She only vaguely remembered hearing Sweet Caroline and karaoke nights, or the cover of Girl You'll Be a Woman, soon in Pulp Fiction. Preparing for the role changed everything for her. She dove into his huge catalog and was blown away by his songwriting skills and beautiful lyrics. It turned out Diamond wrote tons of hits, including ones used everywhere from sports events to other movies. After the film came out, even her friends reached out, excited about discovering songs like Red Red Wine in the beautiful track I've been this way.
