Kansas City Peace Walk Honors Fallen Heroes

0:00Kansas City, Kansas Police are putting on their 5th annual peace walk this Saturday to honor two fallen heroes, Officer Hunter, Simonsik, and Deputy. Elijah Ming, Simonsik, a 26-year-old officer, lost his life on August 26th, 2025, when his suspects car struck him during a chase. Where he was deploying Stopsticks. Just a month earlier, on July 26th, Deputy Ming was shot while responding to a domestic violence call. The event kicks off at 11 a.m. at 5th and Washington Boulevard, winding down to 5th and parallel, with giveaways of Free Hot Dog Lunch, a mobile video gaming center, canine demos, and a special presentation for the first Lifetime Walk for Peace Award going to a community member. Folks in the neighborhood have shown up strong for these walks before, building that trust between cops and residents that make streets safer. And it's working, with violent crime down 23 percent from last year, and homicides cut in half, proving what real partnership can do.
