It's April 21st, from your city to your ears. This is Kansas News Today, powered by AI, I'm Cory, with the story. Tragedy hit Kansas City's East Community Team North neighborhood, early Tuesday morning, with a house fire that claimed one life and left three people. Without a home, firefighters rushed to the 1600 block of Elmwood Avenue just before 3.40 a.m., where they saw flames shooting from the second floor of a two-story house. Crews pushed inside with two hose lines to fight the fire, and during the search, found the victim dead in an upstairs bedroom. The Red Cross stepped in right away to help the three adults who got displaced, making sure they had a place to stay and support. Right now, the Kansas City Police bomb and arson unit is digging into what started the blaze, and will keep an eye on any updates as they come.
