2:03I hope that you will. We're going to have some fun about in or out. Who are we buying into? That's coming up later in the show before that. We're going to get to specifically preparing for the dolphins as much as you may need to. I think it's just basically a wake up alarm. You'll tell me. But I'm really intrigued by your impressions from inside the locker room and in the building in general about this offensive evolution. A lot of people are calling it a return to the old. And I think that's a misnomer. This feels different to me in that week one was obviously a concentration and a dedication to the run game. Okay, great. Week two was dedication to we're in a run play action and we want to throw the ball and remind everybody that we can do that too. But it wasn't quite the same. I think the efficiency of Ken Walker and Emma Johnson in particular kind of masked that few RPOs crept back in. Is this really an evolution of the read offense? Good question. I mean, I still think it's a little bit more of a back to the future than an evolution

3:07of the read offense because I feel like and especially against what the Colts, you saw some greatest hits got cracked out there. Just a no-no over the head led to a really good job of talking to Ty Quant Thornton about Ty Quant running a little bit of a lost route on that point on one of his big catches. And I think they ran Tom and Jerry for a touchdown. They were the ran. So it's a little bit of everything. I mean, yeah, but here's the thing is that we've seen this offense through the last three, maybe four years that was an evolution of the Andy Read offense. And it was kind of the evolution of what happens when you start to miss your key pieces on offense that you don't have anymore and you're entirely building it around Patrick Maholmes and just hoping that he and Travis Kelsey can drag you where you need to go. Well, now he's got a running bag. He's got some receivers with some experience. Still has Travis Kelsey. I mean, they've got pieces together now that, I mean, this to me reminds me a lot more

4:12of 2018, 19, 20, then 22, 23, 24. I agree with you completely. And I'm happy to see it because the big thing that this does is put the league on notice that they can't game plan for one aspect of Maholmes game or Maholmes game in particular. I thought it a very good job controlling himself and not scrambling just because it was easier, but scrambling with a dedicated look at I need to go do this in order to keep the chains moving or whatever it was rather than just there's no other option. So I'm going to run around. So for me, that makes it feel more deliberate and more dedicated to striking you where it hurts with the run game and the play action game. That is one thing that I think needs to continue to move forward. Do you agree or do you think that they need to change it up again? No, I mean, I think there's I think there's going to be more pieces that you see to the proposal that come together because I think I think David knowledgeed into themselves, whether it's publicly, which certainly hasn't been publicly, but I think in these two games,

5:16at least you have seen a little bit of an evolution. I think that they I think Andy Reid kind of knew what he was going to get in week one against the Broncos and a really good defense. It was, hey, I know my quarterback, he's going to be pretty pumped up. He's going to be pretty hyped. Yeah, we're going to have to run the ball a lot. And he wanted to run the ball a lot because he wanted to send a message to everybody that played the running running game in Kansas City is back in business. And under new ownership, there's some work that's been done. So you got to deal with it now. But he also, I guess that he knew that his quarterback was going to be a little rusty, a little amped up. And we saw that against the Broncos. I mean, that two of 10, two of 12 start to the game. You know, really was pretty indicative of a guy who hadn't played in the preseason, who had a lot of juice going through him, a lot of hyper, a lot of adrenaline going on. And, you know, and that wasn't the sharpest game. Now we saw in week two against the Colts, we saw what happens when, hey, they put take

6:17the handcuffs off a little bit that it's more of a balanced attack. They're spreading the ball around a little bit more. I think just the next stage, which is going to be even though they took some shots deep with Taekwondo, there's going to be that next stage because, you know, watching that game against the Colts, but the time they got to overtime, the Colts were running nothing but single high against this team. And that used to be the Depatricum home saw single high safety. And that was it. I mean, the ball was going to somebody in a nine route on the outside. I mean, worthy or Kaikwondo, one of those guys is going to be getting the ball in the deep. Now they did run Taekwondo. I mean, like we're talking about on that kind of wasp route. And they did hit him on that for the deep gain on third and 12. They're going to be doing more. I understand why they didn't take the shot on Sunday night because overtime, it's a risky time. You don't want to turn the ball over. You don't want to make a big mistake. I mean, even that third and 12 throw was pretty gutsy, but I think that was also a throw where my home is like, don't worry, I got this.

7:19I can appreciate that. And normally if you told me that they started this game and it had to be Kelsey over a hundred yards again and a good target volume, I would tell you, oh, wow. The offense isn't working right. They had to go back to the old school. But the way that it's put on top of this run game and put on top of moving the ball around to numerous receivers yet again, I too feel like this is kind of a throwback to the early Super Bowl years, like how they were freshening it. I just don't know if it's sustainable from what you saw the other night. Where is this right now in this offense? Yeah, I mean, I think there's a reason why to believe it is going to be a sustainable. And a little bit of what I'm talking about right there is just how are teams going to adapt to what they do? I think every team is going to be a little bit different. You know, some teams are going to go with what the Colts did and probably learn from that. They're going to be some teams that are like, okay, well, we're not going to do any single high because, you know, my homes can still beat it. You know, there's, you know, there's going to be some teams that are going to avoid that if they can.

8:22But I mean, also you look at the numbers. My homes just absolutely tore apart man defenses the other night. So, I mean, what's picture poison? I mean, teams are going to have to choose one or the other. They're going to have to try and focus on my homes in the passing game or they got to focus on Kenna's Walker. Because if you try to divide your attention between the two, I mean, Chase, you're probably going to put 500 yards on you that week. You mean, you've got like I said, to pick your poison. But one of those is going to beat you. I don't know what, you know, how it's going to settle it. And maybe there's going to be some teams that do try to have their cake need at all. They're maybe they're going to say, we can get away with six and seven in the box against Kenna's Walker. And then maybe we'll just, you know, bluff some show. We'll do one and everything and try and fake out my homes that way. And maybe show seven eight in the box and drop back. I think that's just going to be a recipe for disaster. Because, you know, like I said, I mean, you know, traditionally with my homes, you've got to go one way or the other. You're either stacking the box or you're dropping everybody back. We've never seen in between really work.

9:26I mean, you've got to be able to not only get pressure on my homes with four, but you've got to be able to play run defense with five, six. And if you can't do that, which most teams can't, this offense is going to be a problem. I mean, it's the reason why they're top three in scoring and yards. I mean, they're going to be a problem this year. Yeah, and that's the way it should be because that keeps teams honest. It keeps you in the driver's seat. And that's what the chiefs need to be. But you have to be prepared for that. And getting ready for this particular week is a little bit of a different take. I don't think they need everybody. Matt, this is coming off of again that they had to go to overtime win. So maybe I'm getting a little bit ahead of myself, but I look at this dolphins team and the status of it just makes me want to bring up the whole practice squad to be honest. But there's a couple of guys in particular. I don't think there's any way that we see Josh Simmons. You tell me if I'm crazy. I don't think we need to see Chimaricon or you tell me if I'm crazy. You expect to either of those guys to play in this game. Probably no if to Josh Simmons. It's not going to happen to me. He's been out a long enough that they're going to need this him some time to ramp up and probably not until after the buy. Chimaricon or I think we'd probably still be a stretch. He probably still needs some time as well. And that's assuming he even comes back to practice this week. Yeah, and those are both hopeful assumptions. Now, as far as the rest of it goes, we saw a little bit of a Jalen Royale siding.

13:33We've seen the big three playing a little bit. I think Xavier put up a good outing, but I do think like there were times he didn't look like he felt that great on some of those landings. The one in particular that he came right down on that shoulder. Folks are saying that I'm artificially inflating Xavier's worthiness in this offense right now. So how do you feel about the way the top three have been playing? And is it time to get Cybers Allen onto the field? Is it time to play Royals more? Yeah, I feel like that they... I mean, worthy, I think they're still trying to figure out. And I think he's even trying to figure out a little bit about where he kind of fits in best into this offense. You know, because I see it, I mean, there's a lot of people who would like maybe some of the balls that are going to worthy in space and maybe going to Rishi Rice. And you know, I mean, and the cheese, they feel like that worthy is going to figure it out. That he is a guy that can get the ball near the line of scrimmage, make guys miss, and then burst out for a big, big gain. I mean, it's been rough maybe going for the first two weeks or so, so far.

14:36They still have faith that that's going to work out. So I don't think that there's going to be a lot of drastic changes there. One, I think Tyco Enthorton is obviously earning more opportunities and more looks, but I don't think his usage is going to change a whole lot. Unless it's just a matter of him continuing to earn that confidence from Mahomes. That Mahomes is going to take some of those deep shots. Because I think there's probably more opportunities there. And obviously, I think both those catches on Sunday night should increase the confidence that Mahomes has in him that he can throw the ball in Tyco En's direction. If Tyco Enthusain catch it, he's just going to make sure nobody else does either. But hey, really getting rice and getting worthy going, it's weird because I think that, once again, Mahomes is going to look towards Kelsey. And Kelsey has been getting open. So that's been what the ball has been going to him. But you look at the numbers. I mean, I believe, I believe worthy led to team the other night in separation. Is some of that just fueled by the ways that they were scheming him open, probably.

15:39But, you know, and the numbers of the numbers. So, Jay's looking at him and they think that worthy is a guy who can create separation. They're going to figure that out. Yeah, I mean, I mean, Jaylin Royals with his catches the other night should get more opportunities. Cyrus knowledge should get more opportunities, I think. But again, unless there's a real failure of some point between rice, worthy and tycoon, I think they're going to continue to see those three get the bulk of the work. They're using a lot of multiple tight insets too because of the run game and some of the things that they're doing. So it's squeezed out kind of the fourth and fifth receiver and that's can royals and ale right now. That does make sense to me too. And we can get back to to know a grain J. Branding's tool. What I really want to know is given given what the dolphins are going to put up as in terms of a fight. I feel like MVP Ken Walker and I knew being the 2026 version, folks. I think he could use a day of a bit of a lighter load.

16:40I do have thoughts about like how much volume you give him this first month of the season and what that does to the last month of the season and the overtime. I'm sorry, the postseason in particular. So this is one game where I'd like to see more of a 50-50 back split and let him at Johnson Carey, the rock a little bit more. It wasn't, I thought he did well, but it wasn't a good volume for me the other night. Do you think that changes or they just keep with steady end? Yeah, I'm playing that's playing a band one of the questions I want to talk to when we get into the locker room this week and get with the coaches is how much of this is planned and how much of this is riding the hot hand. I do think that there's there's a reason to make the case for Walker having a big load early on in the season and obviously pay his work in the passing game. Those touches add up too. So that's what really makes these these numbers as far as touches go really kind of stand out. Day to day and age, you know, getting your running back over 400 touches is not really normal. It's just like a pitch count and baseball to a larger degree.

17:45So, but is part of that the fact that they feel like that they need to use Walker early to show what he can do and therefore get teams to respect the run game? I think that's been a big part of it through two weeks. So part of that is going to be, hey, you run Walker early so later you don't have to. Eventually, it's going to loosen teams up. Part two of that I think is also is that as you see the season progress, you're going to start seeing more of Emmett Johnson. You know, he's getting maybe one drive each half. Eventually, it'll be like maybe he's getting that third drive and then it's a fourth drive. So I do think you're going to see Emmett Johnson learning more in that playing time as well. And between those two measures, I think you're going to see the Kenneth Walker Bat touches balance out. But again, I mean, I think it's going to be like a cheese run game. There's going to be some weeks that, you know, going forward that Kenneth Walker might end up with nine touches and that she's winning easily. And there's going to be some games where he ends up with 30 touches

18:45and they have to fight it out. Which do you think happens this week? Yeah, this, this totally seems like the kind of game that if you're not getting your subs and your backups in in the second half, I feel like that something has gone terribly wrong. This is a game I feel like you should probably win by at least three scores. The dolphins are bad. They haven't looked good. And then if you go through the roster, I mean, it's like, I feel like it's like watching a movie major league, the football version. It's like, are some of these guys furniture movers or are the dolphins trying to relocate the Monterey or something? I don't know. But this is not a good football team. Who are these guys? That's going to be the question. I have questions. We'll throw a quote at you all day long, folks. So make sure you check the overtime segment for that. There are a number that need to be in that ballgame. There's a couple that need to be out too. We're going to that next. 21:56back to what comes next. How do they take the next step forward? And for me, I cannot, I cannot hide the fact that I was disappointed with the the step backward that the defense took in this last ballgame against team that quite frankly, unless it was Jonathan Taylor going off, I did not expect to compete as well as they did. So a couple of things in my opinion need to change. And there's guys that should be in. There's guys that should be out. And one is a very, very big question. And I want to take this back to what it was at the 22 class. Tremick Duffy missed some games early. And I am not Steve Spagnolo, but that precedent for him to jump in and attain the level of play that he attained as a rookie. I thought was was very unique. I don't know that you can expect that from everybody. So with this condition that Delane currently is going through with his shoulder as well, I am more likely myself to want to get him in if he's 80% or 90% and not

22:56hold him out. He dressed, but didn't play the other night. And I think that was out of an abundance of caution about that injury. You tell me if I'm wrong. But if not, I think you want to get him in there and get him sorted into the game. I seem to be alone in that. So tell me if I'm crazy and what you think this team should be doing what you plan or what you think they plan to do. Yeah, I mean, we can to a certain degree, we can only go off of what the team has said. And you know, and Andrew suggested that all the tests came back negative and that he was clear on that. And it was really just a matter of the lane being comfortable to play. They thought he would be able to read said the things just didn't progress the way through the weekend the way that they had hoped. But remember, this is the same shoulder that he had that that hairline fracture and the scapula during training camp and kept him out most of that time. And when you re-injure that, I mean, it's like with any injury, I mean, you can get that kind of weight omitted is this thing all the way back. I mean, you can get that that pain can come back to you. And even though the test

24:00is going to tell you that it's negative, doesn't mean that the shoulder doesn't hurt, doesn't mean that your motion isn't limited in the mission that you just don't feel comfortable. And that's kind of where the it sounds like the cheese are with the lane. And we'll find out Wednesday where he is progress wise. But I think you got to be very comfortable with what Christian Fulton gave you. That performance the last couple of weeks, the penalties were the big issue. And one of them, I think there was probably a little bit of give and take. Maybe that could have gone both ways. And I'm I could do an entire 30 minute bit, Ryan, on about how that just because a defensive player commits pass interference does not mean that the offensive player then gets to commit pass interference back with no penalty whatsoever. They just never call. I'm setting pass interference penalties. So, but hey, it was one of those calls soft, maybe, but it happened. Got called. So you got it. You got to deal with that other than that. You know, he I thought he had played two pretty good games and you know, defensively looking at it. I mean, the cheese only gave him 329 yards in an

25:03overtime game. That's defensively this you look at these numbers and you look at what the offense did. Honestly, I mean, the cheese you feel like should have probably won this game by double digits. So, you know, not it were just not everything synced together things didn't get us to go their way. And there were some breakdowns in the secondary. I mean, they're going to have to figure out what they've got there because delaying Zenduri is not the only one. They're going to have to go deeper. But I'll tell you what, I mean, I've got more concerns. Honestly, about Lajerius's need in the secondary because he's had a rough couple of weeks. He's been like the most targeted cornerback in the league and teams are getting like eight yards of play when they target Lajerius's need. That's not good. No. And the question comes to me, I feel it's injury related. I feel they're picking on him because he's had a couple of down years. Now, I don't think that he's playing all that badly. I do think he is giving up routes early.

26:04And he doesn't quite have the recovery speed he used to have. I do see that on film. But I don't know that there's a solution other than putting him outside where he can get more physical. He can get hands on and play into his own strengths. But I don't see that as a solution given the rest of the nickels that you can put in there. What do you think is probably the most likely path forward right now? Yeah, I once again, I've been really confused with how the chiefs and how Steve Spegnoto and Dave Merritt have managed that that secondary in a way. Because it doesn't really match up with anything that we saw during training camp in the preseason. It does a little bit, but there's some elements of it because, you know, there was talk when they brought Sneed back that he was going to be the guy in the slot. We didn't see a lot of that during the preseason. I mean, it was mostly Chris Rollin-Wallis doing most of that work. And when Sneed played, he was mostly on the outside and outside opposite Montsour de Lain. So it was the two of them that were playing on the outside.

27:07Christian Fulton and Noel Williams were both kind of the odd men out. I mean, they were kind of their second team corner. So now, you know, seeing them playing together, I mean, it's not unusual, but the fact that they're playing on the first team and starting is kind of the surprise. I mean, Noel Williams, I think most chiefs fans expected it. I thought he was going to start outside, but the chiefs spent so much time when the limited time that Sneed was healthy playing on the outside. Now they've gotten playing inside, which like I said, he didn't do a lot during training camp. You got Chris Rollin-Wallis who has all those snaps, you know, banked now. I don't know what you're doing with him. I mean, I just have some questions. And whether or not, hey, is it worth giving Chris Rollin-Wallis some more looks now to see what he can do? He's only playing a handful of snaps and he's been kind of targeted too when he's been in there. I mean, at this point, Noel Williams has played really well and when he's not been flagged, Christian Fulton's been playing really well. I mean, I know what you're saying there, but he doesn't get flagged. He's been good.

28:12But Sneed's the one, and you know, you're right. I mean, I feel like that it's of the groups need is the one that plays a little bit further off. Maybe he's been, you know, targeted in a lot of soft zones and maybe that's been, you know, where he's just giving up some soft yards. The other guys, you know, maybe been in more man situations when they're getting targeted hard to say, but I did think the other night that there were a lot of times that the chief's defense was not necessarily playing Pre-Vit Ryan, but they were playing not to give up big plays. They were just trying to keep everything in front of them and basically been but don't break and they kind of got away with it. They did kind of hair their chinny chin chin. 65 slot snaps to 13 out wide for Lajeris. Need so far, we'll see where he lines up this week Matt. It's going to be a very interesting week to see how they come around. Who's injured and who's not. There's a lot of updates still to go, but I'm going to put you on the spot for the first time this season. What happens against the Miami dolphins? I mean, if this is not like a 34 to 10 ball game, then I feel like

29:18the chiefs are playing with their food this week. I mean, this, this is not a good team. They're trust not. And the way that the chiefs are playing right now, these two teams do not belong in the same field together. I think it's like five five or six former chiefs on this team and some of them were starting and I mean, some of them are not former chiefs anymore for a reason. So I mean, it's, but you know, I mean, the dolphins, they are what they are. They they had to bite the bullet on a couple of big items, including making a mistake on the quarterback contract. So they have got dead cat money out the wazoo this year. And as a result, that's meant that they've had to build a team of affordable players. And they're just trying to, this is a transition for the inner for them. I mean, if there's any expectations about winning football games in Miami, those were silly. I mean, look at this roster. It's like, hey, if they win two games, this might be the coaching staff of the year. I don't think they're going to win those two games, but you certainly don't want one of them to be against you. So if that's not the wake up call alone that she's need and if

30:22the colds game should also be a bit of a wake up call, that was a game that they should have one more comfortably. And you can't get into a trap game, even if the Raiders are two and oh, this is a game you need to go out there, put them down, let the backups play a little bit. I'm putting it out there right now, folks, for the whole world to see and the inner webs everywhere. Dante, more welcome to South Beach. It's going to be great.
