This is Corey, keeping you tapped into pop culture. You're listening to Entertainment and Celebrity News today. Casey Musgraves is releasing a new album called Middle of nowhere on May 1st. It's her first project since Deeper Well in 2024 and it features 13 tracks, including a duet with Miranda Lambert titled Horses and Divorses. The two country stars go way back to the early 2010s when Musgraves co-wrote Mama's Broken Heart. That song ended up on Lambert's album for the record after being pitched without Musgraves full okay at first. It became a huge hit, peeking at number two on the country charts. Both women have been through divorces, Lambert from Blake Shelton after four years, and Musgraves from Rustin Kelly in 2020. They had lost touch and were not close, but Musgraves spotted Lambert riding horses on Instagram and saw common ground. Musgraves reached out directly, saying she was not trying to be friends but had a funny song idea.
They aired out old issues, laughed it off, and wrote horses and divorces in just a few hours. Musgraves called it full circle. In the end, she is glad Lambert took Mama's broken heart as it sparked her own debut hit Mary Go Around. Musgraves hopes the track shows how people can poke fun at tough stuff, grab a beer, and move on. DNN is sponsored by our partner. Check out the episode description.
