Juvenile Charged in Tuscaloosa Shooting

Police rushed to the 2,900 block of Azalea Lane around 1.10 pm, following a 911 call about the incident. Offices found the injured juvenile male with a gunshot wound and learned the shooter had been playing with the weapon inside the home. The victim was taken to a hospital where doctors called his injuries serious, but not life-threatening. The shooter's mother was home at the time, but told investigators she had no knowledge of her son possessing a gun. This added a layer of surprise to the unfolding situation in a residential neighborhood. The Tuscaloosa Violin Crimes Unit took over, interviewing witnesses and those involved. They charged the juvenile with second-degree assault and possession of a firearm by someone forbidden to have one and he's now held pending a court decision.
