A few weeks ago, our family was all seated around the large stone open fireplace in the living room. We were telling stories and sharing memories of times gone by. Some of the stories were funny to all, some were funny only to our parents and some were funny only to us kids… Some were even slightly embarrassing.
Because I am the oldest, many of the stories focus on my early exploits. My dad got tickled and started to tell a story I have heard so many times. In fact, I know it is coming from his first word. I have always been inquisitive and would watch Mom and Dad closely even when they didn’t know it.
One day, Mom had taken us to town for our monthly grocery trip and was in the process of checking out. This was before credit or debit cards and Mom apparently did not have as much cash as she thought.
