Jury Deliberates in Aniah Blanchard Murder Trial

He's charged in the 2019 kidnapping and killing of Anaya Blanchard, a young woman from Homewood. Yazeed faces two counts, one linked to the kidnapping and the other to robbery. The case started at a gas station in Auburn, where Blanchard met Yazeed. Yazeeders say evidence from her car shows violence broke out there, before her body turned up in a wooded area in Macon County. Courtroom supporters for the Blanchard family filled the seats, wearing blue ribbons to remember her. Yazeed appeared frustrated, shaking his head due parts of the prosecution's final pitch. Prosecutors highlighted traces of blood and a bullet casing inside the car, plus eyewitness accounts of Yazeed driving her vehicle. They also noted her phone was never found. The defense insists the proof is all indirect, with no clear tidy Yazeed pulling the trigger.
