Jon Gruden's Favorite Defender: Cam Heyward's Dominance

He's earned seven pro bull nods and four all pro honors, making him one of the top players at his position in NFL history. This week on a podcast, former coach John Gruden named Hayward as his favorite defender in the league. Gruden shared memories from coaching against him for years. He recalled a game in his last season with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021. They won against the Steelers, 26-17 in the second week of the year. Afterward, one of Gruden's offensive linemen admitted Hayward had completely worn him down during the match. Gruden watched the film on the flight home and was even more impressed. Hayward stands six foot five and weighs nearly 300 pounds, bringing massive strength to the field. He's still performing at a high level as he heads into his age 37 season.
