John C. McGinley's Rooster: A Comedy Inspired by Real Life

The 66-year-old actor teamed up again with Scrubs co-creator Bill Lawrence, who stayed at McGinley Southern California home for a whole. Summer back in 2001, and asked to borrow elements from his real experiences for the show. Lawrence turned that idea into a series that premiered recently, with McGinley diving deep into self-reflection to nail the role. He even wrote a six-page single-space manifesto about how loneliness shaped him and shared it with Lawrence and co-creator Matt Tarsis helping them. Build the character from there.
