Jim Rutherford on The Cam & Strick Podcast

About this episode

Jim Rutherford, one of the most accomplished General Managers of his era, joined Cam and Strick for an amazing conversation. Rutherford recently shocked the hockey world when he stepped down as Pittsburgh Penguins GM less than 10 games into the season. Why? You'll have to listen for that answer, but this guy has a helluva story. From a long playing career as an NHL goaltender to coaching in the OHL to winning three Stanley Cups with two different teams, Rutherford has seen it all. The only NHL GM to ever also be part owner, Rutherford has established himself as one of the best to ever do it. The Hockey Hall of Famer has coached some of the biggest names in hockey history. Just Pittsburgh alone had him cross paths with Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, Kessel, while working for Mario Lemieux. He comments on all of these guys. Not to mention he worked for the Hartford Whalers and was a major piece in the transition down to North Carolina.  Plus at 72 years old, he keeps busy chasing around a 12-year-old son. This guy is everything but boring, a classic interview with one of the best GM's ever, on this edition of the Cam and Strick Podcast.
