The New York Jets made their first offseason moves by locking in three players ahead of free agency. They handed out exclusive rights tenders to defensive tackle Joanne Briggs and linebacker Marcellina McCrary-Ball, while resigning back up tied end. Jalani Woods. This sets them up nicely for the legal tampering period next week, where they will carry more than $70 million in salary cap space. Briggs stood out after the Jets traded for him from the Browns last August, posting a career high for sacks in a tough season. He could fit well in their new defensive front alongside Harrison Phillips and nose tackle to Vandre's sweat. McCrary-Ball earned special teams captain honors in pre-season, but a hamstring injury limited him to five games and 23 tackles overall. Woods returned from missing two full seasons with the Colts, seeing action in four games with mostly backup snaps. Neither Briggs nor McCrary-Ball's deals include guaranteed money with values around $1 million
