Jesse Jackson's Endorsement Twist in Illinois Senate Race

Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton announced an endorsement from the late Reverend Jesse Jackson over the weekend, but his family quickly pulled it. Back just before the March 17th vote, Stratton is one of two black women vying to replace retiring Senator Dick Durvin. She has strong support from Governor J.B. Pritzker, while her rival Congresswoman Robin Kelly counts on the Congressional black caucus. People show Congressman Raja Krishnamorthy out in front. The mix-up stem from a sample ballot handed out by Jackson's rainbow P.U.S. coalition at a women's event. Stratton attended Saturday. Her campaign shared it as proof of backing from Jackson, who passed away last month. Yusef Jackson, Jesse Sun, clarified Monday that the ballot went out without approval, and no endorsements were planned to cycle. He said his father had started reviewing candidates, but never finished due to his death. Many members, including Widow Jacqueline and Sun Congressman Jonathan Jackson, stressed.
