Jes Staley And The Transcripts From His Epstein Related Trip To Congress (Part 16) (9/8/26)

About this episode

The transcripts from Jes Staley’s July 24, 2026 interview with the House Oversight Committee revealed just how deep and personal his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein became, while also exposing contradictions in the way Staley had described that relationship publicly. Staley acknowledged visiting Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse dozens of times, traveling to Little St. James on multiple occasions and exchanging roughly 1,200 communications with Epstein between 2008 and 2012. He admitted that he had shared confidential and potentially market-sensitive JPMorgan information with Epstein, including details about the bank’s business, client relationships, pending transactions and even communications involving the Federal Reserve during the 2008 financial crisis. Staley also told investigators that he had discussed his own compensation with Epstein and sought his advice, despite previously portraying Epstein as having little or no connection to his professional life after the 2008 conviction. He further acknowledged having a sexual encounter with one of Epstein’s assistants after meeting her through Epstein, while insisting that Epstein did not arrange it and that he had no knowledge that the woman had later accused Epstein of abuse.

The committee also pressed Staley on some of the strangest and most troubling material in his correspondence with Epstein, including the notorious “Snow White” emails and other references to Disney characters. Staley denied having sex with a woman dressed as Snow White and said he could not explain the meaning of some of the messages, even when investigators confronted him with contemporaneous emails and photographs. He maintained that he did not know Epstein was continuing to abuse girls after his 2008 conviction, calling that revelation “incredible,” yet the transcripts also showed that Staley personally argued for JPMorgan to keep Epstein as a client even as internal concerns about Epstein’s cash withdrawals and potential trafficking activity were mounting. Staley also said he had spoken with Jamie Dimon about Epstein, something Dimon and JPMorgan have disputed. Taken together, the testimony painted a picture of a relationship that was far closer, more intertwined with Staley’s professional life and more difficult to reconcile with his earlier descriptions than he had previously acknowledged.

What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the Epstein Chronicles. In this episode we're getting right back to the Jess Staley transcript from his trip to Congress. Question I'd like to introduce as Minority Exhibit T an internal due diligence report with an embedded article on Mr. Epstein titled The Sex Trafficking Model Scout dated August 4th, 2010. The bait's number is EFTA 02811303. Question, this article describes the modeling agency MC squared, which it notes that Mr. Epstein funded, and allegations that Mr. Epstein and Jean-Luc Brunel quote deliberately engaged in a pattern of rocketeering and involved luring minor children through MC squared mostly girls under the age of 17 to engage in sexual play for money. The article further states that quote civil complaints alleged that young girls from South America, Europe, and the former Soviet Republic, few of whom spoke English, were recruited for Mr. Epstein's sexual pleasure. Do you recall having internal discussions about

this article or the allegations it describes? Answer no. Question, do you recall having internal discussions about the modeling agency MC squared? Answer no. Question in a deposition in a class action against JP Morgan, you were asked whether you remembered hearing in a 2010 about civil complaints that had been brought against Mr. Epstein. You testified that you did remember hearing that those lawsuits, and that you discussed them with others at JP Morgan. So would you like to correct your answer? Answer, but you were asking whether I was aware of this article about MC squared, right? Question, I asked if you recalled having any internal discussion about this article or the allegations that it describes. Answer or the allegations, yeah, I may have had conversations about the allegations. Question, in your testimony is that class action again, you said you remembered, hearing about these lawsuits, and you discussed them with others at JP Morgan. You also testified that quote, it was terrible news, and it was shocking. Obviously he lied to me, that's what I recall.

When you testified that Mr. Epstein lied to you, what exactly did you believe he lied to you about? Answer in 2006, he lied that he solicited underage prostitutes. Question, if you knew in 2010, that Mr. Epstein had lied to you about his victim's ages, and you thought that it was a terrible and shocking, as you said in your testimony, why did you continue to push for JP Morgan to keep Mr. Epstein as a client? Answer, I don't believe I pushed JP Morgan to keep Epstein as a client. And again, I was running a completely different part of the bank, was not involved in his accounts or his business at all with the bank. Question to be clear, you were saying that you did not believe that you pushed JP Morgan to keep Jeffrey Epstein as a client? Answer, that's correct. Question, I would like to introduce as minority exhibit you, an email chain between JP Morgan employees, including William Langford, Philip DeLuca, Nina Nichols, Mary Ann Ryan, and Arthur Middlemiss,

from January 7th, 2011. Question, I believe the email chain starts on the last page. In the first email of the chain, Mr. Ryan sends Mr. DeLuca some re-ever rapid response meeting on Mr. Epstein. In the third paragraph, she says quote, Jeffrey is a friend of Jess S and Catherine feels that PB, along with William, should meet with them to explain the HD project and explain the bank's recognition of the project and whether Epstein it further exposed could have potential serious impact. First, we understand that Catherine refers to miskeeding, that William refers to William Langford, JP Morgan's director of anti-money that PB refers to private bank and that HT project refers to human trafficking project. So according to Mr. Ryan, miskeeding believe that she, along with Mr. Langford, needed to meet with you to explain JP Morgan's human trafficking project and the impact of Mr. Epstein's crimes if further exposed could have on the project, correct? Answer, yes. Question, would you

agree that this statement makes clear that at this point in early 2011, JP Morgan already suspected that Mr. Epstein was engaging in sex trafficking? Answer, yes. Question, in the next paragraph, Mr. Ryan says quote, Epstein was released in July from House arrest and the Palm Beach carried two articles saying DOJ may be investigating for child sex trafficking via a modeling agency's part owner in. I think Catherine believes that after the briefing on HT that Jess would need to point blank ask Jeffrey the status of any criminal investigations. Did you ask Mr. Epstein about the status of any federal investigation into him? Answer, not or recall. Question, you have no memory of asking Mr. Epstein in early 2011 about investigations into him specifically criminal investigations for sex trafficking? Answer, obviously I was aware of it. He was being investigated. I don't recall if I had specific conversations with him. Question, Mr. Ryan continues quote, Catherine made

sure that we knew that no one on today's call was in favor of having retained them as a client. Seems it's all due to Jess's personal relationship, note he has about 212 million in the bank. Would you agree that at this point JP Morgan's retention of Mr. Epstein as a client was due to your personal relationship with him? Answer, no I would not. Question, what was it due to? Answer, I think the bank had full authority to close his accounts and close his business. It wasn't up to me to make that decision. I was not involved in that decision. I wasn't in the rapid response team. I wasn't involved in any of the process. I know Epstein, but I think the bank and the people from Catherine Keating on down had the authority to close the account and chose not to. But I think they significantly restricted its activities to the bank. Question, you mentioned throughout this email though multiple times by multiple people clearly you are central to the entire decision. Sullivan, question, answer, stalee no, question. How can you say that you weren't involved in it?

And if you weren't involved in it, why are so many people talking about how they have to talk to you about Mr. Epstein? Answer, in the meetings discussed, discussing Epstein's accounts was I in the meetings with all the people that were listed? Question, were you? Answer no. Question, in the last paragraph of the email, Ms. Ryan says quote, the one new concerning thing is the one article about the DOJ investigation is saying they brought underage girls to the US via modeling agency MC squared that's owned by a guy named Brunel. Turns out the banker said today we extended Epstein alone in relation to the modeling agency. We believe she means MC squared. Would you agree that at this point in early 2011, JP Morgan had reason to believe that the bank had directly funded Mr. Epstein's sex trafficking operation? Answer again, I was not part of this. I was not part of the area of the bank any longer. So you know, you know, I know to ask to tell me or tell you what the bank was thinking,

it's more important you ask the bank. Question, at the bottom of the email, Ms. Ryan says quote, bottom line, we need W to meet with Jess to explain HT and then Jess could decide the next step. We understand that this means that Mr. Langford needs to meet with you and explain human trafficking. And then you can decide the next steps. As you've pointed out multiple times, you were the CEO of the investment banking division at this time, correct? Answer, yeah, not the private bank. Question, so you did not have authority over asset management or the private bank, correct? Answer, that is correct. Question, so then why did JP Morgan's director of anti money laundering or anyone else for that matter need to talk to you about Mr. Epstein? Answer, I think you should ask him. Question, why would all these people from different divisions at JP Morgan repeatedly talk about how they need to go to you to talk about Mr. Epstein to explain human trafficking? If you don't have a significant role in the decision to keep Epstein as a client.

Answer, and I think you need to ask them, but I don't have a significant role in the decision to keep Epstein as a client. It's a completely different, completely different part of the bank. Question, I'm sorry, answer, it was a completely different part of the bank than what I was responsible for. Question, I understand that. In the next email on the chain, Mr. Diluka towards Ms. Ryan's email to Ms. Nichols, who is new on the team. He provides Ms. Nichols with some background information, including that Mr. Epstein quote, is alleged to be involved in the human trafficking of young girls, and that Mr. Epstein quote, is also on alleged personal associate of the CEO of Investment Bank Jess Staley. Do you agree that Mr. Epstein was a quote, personal associate of yours? Answer again, as I've said, we had a professional relationship. We obviously knew each other. I would not call it a personal friendship. Question, I asked if you would agree that Mr. Epstein was a quote, personal associate of yours.

Answer, what does associate mean? Question, however you understand that word. Answer again, I think it was a relationship based on the business relationship that we had. I didn't view him as a personal friend. Question, Mr. Langford then asked the individual on the chain to pull prior emails and relevant press reports quote, so we can get all the facts ASAP in advance of any meeting with Jess. The team then exchanges emails about compiling information. Did Mr. Langford and the management for the private bank meet with you at this point? Answer, I don't recall. Question, you have no recollection if they met with you and shared all the facts relevant to Mr. Epstein's ex-trafficking operation that they're discussing compiling in advance of meeting with you. Answer, I don't. Question and finally, the last email on the chain. Ms. Ryan explains that the renewed interest in Mr. Epstein was due to alerts for cash activity. And that in talking to JP Morgan employees, she learned that quote, PB, was not so thrilled with

retaining him. It was all due to Jess. Answer, that's not fair. Question, so you dispute her characterization? Answer, yes. All right folks, we're going to wrap up right here and in the next episode we're going to pick up with question. I'd like to introduce as minority exhibit V.
