Jen & Tim Show: Jen's Thrift Store

Jen & Tim Show

About this episode

On today's show, Tim still refuses to watch Titanic. A listener informed him it was airing last night and he refused to turn it on. Tim wants Jen to open a thrift store with all the clothing items left at her house from her sons friends. She hates that idea but needs a solution of some sort. Plus, we need to address Jen's crazy high electric bill as people on social media had questions.

God morning. Welcome to the Genetim show on Cleveland Star 102. We have Rich Friday morning. It is September 11th. We are at 607 Gen 2 week. Good morning to you. Tim Richards. Good morning to you. Weekend is right around the corner. First Browns game is this weekend. I was talking to JJ. So we broadcast live in a holiday building and there is a there is a store here and it's called bookline. I just call it JJ's because Pete Oh, Pete's there as well. But he's there later in the day. I think he's technically the owner, but I've seen JJ every day for 12, 13 years, whatever it's been. So JJ has his Browns gear on nice his jersey. And the Browns are not favored this weekend and in most games this season they are not going to be favored. You don't have your Browns gear on I see. I do not. So he has his Browns gear on. So Jay, what do you think we play the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend? It's probably Sunday at one. I would imagine that's probably that's when it is.

I said, Jay, what do you think is going to happen this weekend? So all the Browns you win by 10 points. So Jay, you're basing this off of what? Did he have an answer? He did. Oh, Tim. I'm basing it off a hope. There you go. I know what happens. It's a this is the thing that's beautiful about this point in time. We're, you know, hope springs eternal. Right? Heading into a new year. You have 17 fresh games to play. Maybe this is the year. Is it? Are you excited? No. I'm not excited because the most important position in football is quarterback and that is at the very least unsettled. And EMC's is that fair? That's fairly fair. I think that is an unsettled position. However you want to view it. Pro this, pro that pro certain people not winning anybody. I mean, whatever it is, I just that that's that is the prominent position. So what happens in your world Sunday at one? Do you sit down and watch the game?

I do. I always do. Of course you do. I am from Northeast Ohio, born and raised. My dad is my dad's fault, which is probably his dad's fault. We are in the club. I mean, there have been times that I've been so down on the team and I think to myself is there a possibility to root for somebody else? I've certainly thought about this before, probably at some point in time, from most Browns fans have where you're just a miserable season or, you know, I remember the drive and the fumble and crying in my room with all my brown stuff there. I mean, we've been through a lot. You cried? Oh, bad. Like a grandparent passed away. I'm dead serious. I cried so hard. And I still hate John always teeth. I cannot stand it. Oh my god. Oh, I did. Like big big. That is impactful. Worst than this is us. I mean, real tears streaming down the face when that happens. So that's the case. So we'll see. You know, you never know. It's this is why you play the games, right? I want to get to Trisha's message and all. I'm so sad that I didn't see it in a timely fashion or yesterday could have been the day. Trisha, I apologize. That apologies from media.

Yesterday could have been the day. It makes me nervous. Based on your face. I just didn't see the message until too late. All right. It is 610 and Friday. Good morning. So let's get to this message. It's star 102 Cleveland still good. Look on your face is a little bit telling like what this feels like you're about to be sneaky. So Trisha, yeah. Trisha, thank you for the DM. So once again, you can always reach out to us. If you give us a follow you give us a like a lot of times. It's the easiest way. You'll send us tasty Tuesday things and see no different reminders or birthday shout out to whatever it is. And we're always checking these messages. Trisha sent this last night at 819 PM said, hey Tim Titanic is showing on e as we speak. Unfortunately, do not ask. You will occur. Do not say got all my grandma used to say. Do you know what all the serious. Geolikers in Judas Priest. Yeah. Um you would have not what should like. Jonas Priest. You would have.

That's the point to say it. You're in your seventies to say it. Yeah. Right. Right. No, that's funny. That's. You never won. So that was once again. The reason I mentioned it was at 819 last night. I didn't get a notification. I didn't see it. So 945. I said, oh. I'm so sorry. I'm just seeing this message. And now I need to go to bed. You're lying. I'm going to miss it again. You were not sorry. Were you sorry. So if you would have seen it when she sent it, would you watch. I probably would have not. No, you wouldn't have. No, but I do want to get to the Greek Science Center. They've extended it. I know. I know. I think they extended it for me. They though. The thing is, if you go, they require you to watch the film while you're there. So you'll have to do both. Looks like I'm also not going to agree. Leaks. No, I'm kidding. I'll definitely go. And that's not factual information. I don't think star one or two. Good morning. Good morning. What happened to dead man in the envelope today? Well, we've had a couple of DMs. And I do not feel right playing that game on 911. So you can either.

Okay. Well, my decision, hate my decision, but it will be back on Monday. So that was a Tim call. And I decided not to do that. So I do have a couple of messages. And I wanted to address that. I just today's not the day. Okay. I respect that. This would be a first on the Gen. Tim show. Maybe on any show to be perfectly honest with you. It's star one or two. Cleveland's feel good. Favorite. What's that? Our first ever. Steve, you ready for this? Yeah. They can hear you say, oh God. They can't. I think they can. I had to mic up. Our first ever Gen. Tim show. Rift store will be opening at 710. We can't do that. I hope it's available through star one or two. How are we going to display the items for bidding? No, for purchase. No, we can't do that. I hope you took a lot of pictures yesterday. That was the homework for today show. Listen, lay them all out. I don't know if you had somebody model them, but we have the Gen. Tim show version of posh mark. I am looking for a solution, but that is not it. I feel like that's an appropriate. They could be so many levels. If you don't, if you don't, if you've ever reached out about these items for this long, it's now yours to disperse.

But what is the gen to see there's a major issue with that mean because I feel that no, we will get into it. No, because if it were like you, like what you're saying, or my husband, even he would like have my kids wear all this. That would be amazing. As a class reminder, it's not ours. That would be great. No, that is even better than any idea I have. Please have Noah and Max wear a article of closing, clothing to school today. Do not encourage on anything like that. I'm a text. He thinks it's absolutely fine. That it like it's no big deal. Yeah, no, there, there's purpose. I wouldn't say it's absolutely fine. It is not. Yeah, it is not. It's not yours. So they're not yours. Yeah, those credit cards. I have it. 710. And Hannah has announced her first new book in nearly three years. We'll tell you what we know in 60 seconds. It's 64 degrees in Medina today. Star City here. The three things you need to know this morning. A seventh moment of silence being permanently added to the annual 9 11 ceremony in New York today.

It will follow the reading of the names and honor those who later died from illnesses connected to the attacks. Taylor Swift is going back to the CMA Awards first time in 10 years. She'll attend the show on November 18th. She's nominated for single of the year for her Toy Story 5 song. I knew it. I knew you. And Kristen Hannah has announced her first new book in three years. If you've read any of her books, you know how good she is. She is so good. It's called the fire that will be released May 4th. Oh, as in dragons. No, no, she is not. She is like. I'm unfamiliar. I'm just messing around with drags. Historical fiction. I think one of her biggest ones is the women. You might have heard of or the night and gal with them, which they're making a movie adaptation, which is L fanning and Dakota fanning. Okay. We're going to start together in that one. That's oh my gosh. If you haven't read that book, read it. It's so good. It comes out March 19th, but this book will be released May 4th. Star 102 Cleveland's feel good. Good to famous jetting Tim show. Good morning to you. And Stevie on socials. What do we have next? Stevie? Well, there was a flight that made an emergency stop in New Mexico. It was flying to New York and made a stop. And why is that news? Well, it's because apparently it was filled with a bunch of celebrities. And they were all documenting the experience. And I find it very interesting. I was watching all the stories. I was very invested in this flight.

Why are there a bunch of celebrities on a flight? I'm very curious now. There is a reason. Okay. Okay. We will get to that. It will make sense. Okay. Of course it will. Stevie on the socials. We're four minutes away on Star 102. From trending topics to TikTok treasures. She's got the scoop. It's time for Stevie on the socials with a gym and temp show on star 102. So on Wednesday, there was a flight that was going from Los Angeles to New York City. And it made an emergency stop in Albuquerque because people were noting and the crew also noted of a smokey electrical odor. So they obviously had to stop the plane. They landed. Everybody is fine. But on the plane happened to be a bunch of different celebrities of different ranges. And they were posting about it. And it was very entertaining. One of the people that was posting a ton. His name is Owen feel to never just talking about it. He's on the show adults, which is like my favorite show right now. And he was documenting the entire experience about what was happening. And he he posted that Andrew Garfield was on the flight. And he was like.

So he posted Andrew Garfield's on my flight. If the plane went down, it would have said Andrew Garfield and others, which I thought was funny. That's funny. Probably. He was on it with other people from the cats Nick Robinson. He's an actor. He was on like love Simon letters for Isabel. And then they had the Dylan from love Island was on it. So they're taking selfies in the airport. All these people and they're just in Albuquerque. They one of them. They went to like P F Changs while they're waiting. Good. Yeah. And then they finally. It's delicious. Let us ramps. Yes. They finally did make it to New York. But they were all one of the West side. What? No. I just thought of that. I am so sorry to do that to your story. I just thought because everything. They're very reflective. It feels like if it's West side, there's an East side. There's West side. It just happens that way. I'm waiting for my East side. Doys are us. Wait, you have a P F Changs room? Yes. Down in Beachwood. Oh. So good. So but I'm flight. We got some P F. Yeah. How about that? I think it that flight. But see, I believe that you're dream flight. Other than the electrical fire.

Correct. I would enjoy that. But it would. It seemed like a very stacked group of people. Do we know what the smokey electrical smell was and did they get back on the same plane? I don't know that actually. That's a great question. I just know that they were all on. They were there. They rebooked different flights. I think. Anyway, which P F Changs do they go to? Yeah. I agree. They were going to love letters. Fashion week. Oh, yeah. Makes sense. I think I got a gift card there when I got married and I have not been back to P F Changs. Oh, take me and see me. I mean, I went there with the gift card by just five. I haven't been back since. Oh, you used it. It might be a P F Chang practical magic to weekend. Not a lot of you. That sounds like an amazing weekend. Stevie on the socials on star 102. Nine minutes to be open to Jen and Tim show thrift store. We're not to. Believe in this feel good favorites. Anything good? Yeah. We got a thing. There's a lot of good. What's that? Is it half off on certain color tags? There's no way.

I'm not cutting you deal. Yeah. Come on. Is there a promo code? What are you running? It's your shop? No. We're just shopping in it. Listen. There's no shop. There's only a shop that you're making up. I just don't know what to do with this stuff because I can't just get rid of it. Right. I don't know. I need to explain to you. You could just get rid of it. Get rid of it and what fashion? I wouldn't throw it out. I wouldn't think. Well, that's what I'm saying. Do I donate it? I don't know. Like I. I need to explain to you my process. Okay. Because you know, you know me. There's a process. How many items are we talking in the thrift shop? At least 10 to 15. Why is that not a lot? That is a lot. Oh, it's a good start. Yeah. It is a real good start. It's not a thrift shop. I can't believe I just answered you. Like it is. Oh, it's going to be. It's going to be. No, it's not a thrift shop. What would you call it? My loss and found. It's yeah. The two e-household lost and found. When lost and found doesn't get picked up within a certain amount of time. That's what I'm saying. There's a statute of limitations here. But why make some profit here? How do I notify every child that's ever been to my house about this? They come to you. They all lost and found work. That's how lost and found works. And after certain amount of time. You can. You're like. I said that four times until you've really realized it.

I think you would tend to agree with me if I just hype up Stevie because you don't want to go back on Stevie. So if I just say I don't agree with you guys on any of this. I don't know. I choose a new name lost and found doesn't work either. Yeah, lost and found doesn't work either. Maybe who's junk is junk is. You're smart to do that because you're right behind the TV feed you're the found of the lost and found right. Yeah. I mean think about it. I'm going to explain you what's going on and then you could name it not the thrift store. No, I don't. But I'm not selling these things. It's not. should so they're your items now they're not they yes they are they're not just a statute of limitations they're there definitely your items now you ever find your skippers yep losers what keep them into what cellum get what have no out max wear them now you sound like Nate today no the whole new

the day to the shop what's for sale Jen houses going down people bid on it what's happening it's not the Jenna and Tim show thrift shop no it's not I need advice I need to know what to do and it's not it's not creating a thrift shop of clothing you'll be all excited all morning long and this is not even the gen to we thrift shop the Jenna Tim strip I thought you were taking pictures I thought you had legal approval to post it at starwitt it's Cleveland dot com I would not do that the even if I had approval I can't do that the thing is this you could do it I would never do that kids you know I have a 14 year old I have a 12 year old we have kids over all the time we have a pool they swim they change their clothes whether it's it's for that whether it's in the winter for sleep over whatever I have a lot of extra clothing in my house whether it's hoodies or swim trunks or shorts or whatever but I thrifting to me I I create a

no I need to tell you my method okay I want to tell you my method I want to tell you what's got what stage of the method we're in now and then I need to know not from you Tim because apparently you want me to create a thrift shop I'm not selling other people's stuff your method is to fold it and keep it in the corner no that's not my method you don't know my method and now I think that's officially yours I didn't say that's my method there's more to my method you have a there's more my method on Facebook I will explain my method next and tell you what I do and tell you where we are in the cycle of my method and then you tell me what I'm supposed to do now this is a long cycle it is I feel like this your cycle is about off the air for a long time so I think maybe the method needs adjusting not only do I need to tell you about my method there is one item that Nate and I just continue to hide in each other's things oh that's great it is great and it just keeps showing up everywhere and it just showed up again

yesterday like after I don't know six months I'm like he I thought I got rid of this oh that's a good call ridiculous your method yeah I have a method okay it's a simple method but it's mine is it working no all right the simple method that is not working that would be next all right what's this method it's star 102 Clevans feel good favorite so when I find random clothing at my house from kids that have left it there and it's usually after I've done the laundry because like I go to fold something I'm like this is an ours I set it aside I have hooks in my laundry room on the back of the door right and I hang it on the hooks and then my method is when the kids come over any kids I try to ask them hey are these yours do you remember who's this is I have one put your girl hoodie it's so cute I can't figure out who it belongs to it's been in my house for like two years actually really good method you're asking the kids is this yours and then you know what else sometimes I'll be like yeah that's mine they'll grab it and then two hours later when they leave it's like sitting on my kitchen table like they forget to take it so I'm not I have a pile of clothes you were asking me

earlier I mean it's maybe like 10 or 15 items at least like it's it's a lot like to the point where I'm like okay this is taking up too much space in my house it's been here forever I've asked the kids and I mean you know kids rotate through friends too this could be like a two year ago for sports depending on school there's a lot of different things which is why no what do you want to look okay no I'm not selling them but like what do I do am I supposed to donate these things it's not like I get like with the school you we're talking about lost and found kind of joking earlier if the school has a lost and found at the end of the year they're like okay have your kids check the lost and found because otherwise we're donating it what am I supposed to do text every parent my kid my kid has ever been friends with so why is that fine for the school but not for you how long you can all you're a stash in a limitation I need Stevie in here to show you'll listen to me you think I just donate them I think I think I feel wrong well you they're just gonna sit there they're they're not missing these items you've asked all of the

kids except like you said there's a close friends I get if I haven't been there I think you've done your job there's like some hoodies is like you ever have like can you imagine you think you lost your favorite hoodie and then all of a sudden you show up at max or Noah's house and like oh my gosh I've been looking for that forever although they probably grown so much it doesn't fit them any so many reasons they've been I mean they could have been there for two I don't know I just I feel that's what my husband says that is what Nate says Nate's like what the kids I'm like the kids cannot wear these clothes they are this is not ours are they in good shape yes well this is this is just a travesty so you need to know what to do yeah I'm not selling them okay so she won't sell them you approach the children nobody knows who they are so these clothes are now yours which is your decision what they're not though all right two one six three four three one oh two one what would you do you can DMs Genitim show star one oh two Gen needs a mouth or should we open up the thrift shop I mean this is your call Gen needs

some advice to star 102 Cleveland's feel good favorites Stevie that's cuz you want to start a thrift shop kids leave items at my house I have a 12 year old I have a 14 year old and over the years we've just collected a lot of items and I have never I mean I keep them because I when the kids come over ask if they belong to them I don't want to get rid of somebody else's stuff but I will say this we just got a message from Rachel great idea she says take a picture of all the items send a mass group chat text to all the parents saying here's the items I have if you want them or if they're yours please contact me you never know the other my other parents might have stuff they need to get rid of and you might start some kind of trend between parents where we can all help each other so that is a great idea first of all I said to take pictures of second of all that is a group thrift shop that is exactly my idea I'm not some that's in Rachel's rift shop means so I mean that's up to you what you want to what you want to no price point is no or give it to a thrift shop there's no price point as these

are not my things they are your things you've had it for a couple of years I don't you have them for 15 years there's still not your things I feel like I just I didn't pay for the I don't know it just feels wrong to me really like you really really think those are my things I think I depends on the length of time if they have been there I'm gonna say over or under a year there's definitely some over a year some have are like I know there's some legal ease to this there's someone else like this one kid that comes over to swim all the time and like he leaves his shorts and he's a swim show I've washed it like 37 times nice of you he leaves well because it ends up in the laundry it's a checking the laundry and he leaves it there Nathan come get your just swim stuff he goes to a nation now don't you mean no no I don't have a similar name so like his I can't get rid of that so I just leave it my house we comes over

again I don't think I'm saying what if you never comes over I'll be going to different school I might not be right but I just don't feel like that's right either I don't know that's a great message by Rachel though thank you all right we've got another phone call that has another idea star 102 Cleveland's feel good favorites still looking for ideas all those leftover clothes from the kiddos at your house what do you do with them when they're not picking them up now you don't know who they are they're just sitting there or whatever yeah and I feel like I do I donate those I feel guilty like I don't they're not my things to donate Amy has a good idea she says perfect white elephant gifts oh yes this is more along the lines of these suggestions that I would like just a rain can you imagine at a white elephant somebody opens just like a kids t-shirt yeah there's some nice stuff in there or maybe a consolation trump to a gift they don't get the limited edition t-shirt but they get you get a random way child's like hoodie 24 yeah there you go here's a

pair of swim trunks if you lose that's what we'll do during redemption week with people come in they get an item they get you get an item from the Gen 2 e stash at her home sorry to all the West Lake kids that have been to my house yeah so there you go there's an idea of Davis an idea go ahead buddy hey perfect idea for Gen yeah what have Max or Noah take them in the school and they're lost and found oh there you go but then I have to trust my kids to take it in take it to the lost and thought yeah they would probably do that should I drop it at the school you could do that or give Max to know that one-way conversation and that should take care of it done drop it at the school which school the middle school is a middle school kids more well now I keep thinking too I think it's a lot of Noah's friends and he just went to high school and then a lot of his friends have like gone to St. Ed's and St. Ignatius and so I like they won't even see it you know I'm saying like now I'm so worried so we brought this up yesterday I was talking about it on the air and I mean electric bills are crazy whether we're talking to you know each other here in studio or boss Chase or over your

friends you just you look at this bill and I happen to get mine yesterday and I thought I go in the air with it because it was about three hundred sixty five dollars almost thought of the chair you just see these things and you understand it's you know there are reasons for this we understand why maybe your electric bill increases in the summer I mean it has been a hot summer you're running the AC I don't run it a ton I do have a poll like there are other things that that kind of make up the reason why it would be you know three sixty five which just I mean it makes be one of them I mean it that's it's terrible and it's been that for the last couple of months but I felt like I got a deal because I think maybe the month before was three eighty and I thought oh look at me it's on its way down and then we got to your well yeah like six to nine months ago I feel like when it they started jumping up over three hundred we're like what is going on and then we'd like kind of settled into that like oh my gosh this is the new reality and then this and you'll see this is my bill that I got on August 7th and I saved the screenshot because my I was so stunned when I received this I didn't I didn't even think it was real I thought I skipped a bill I thought I skipped a bill and this was two months it was not it it's it's

I thought three sixty five if you haven't seen it yet and we just we mentioned we just did posted yesterday we will get to that total you probably can't even fathom a guess of this total and then the comments started rolling in I mean so many different comments about what was going on so all that's happening in three minutes talking electric bills you can certainly share yours DM us two one six three four three one oh two when it's star one oh two Cleveland's feel good favorites I got kicked off I mean like I said we gently mentioned this yesterday and I was three sixty five and you thought that was well you thought it was good compared to last month yeah I guess I mean it's all horrible but I suppose so I took a screenshot of my bill this was back in August but it was $668.52 because I I truly couldn't believe it and it was literally and you know what you weren't here that week I remember because I I was about to go on vacation I thought wow do I keep going on vacation or do I cancel it to pay my electric bill because I thought it was just absolutely insane that it was six hundred sixty eight dollars I mean I

don't even understand how that happens like I said if it was I guess small business or so I don't even I don't know what people were saying like all this must be a massive house it would make sense if it was if it was or it was one of these I don't know you know massive home but that's it's it's a beautiful home but it's a lovely home that is six hundred six thousand square feet even close no absolutely not Brian what in the world is she hitting a pool or running several air condition and you know what's going on guess I'm eating a pool but my pool is is is gas the heater I mean yes we run electric in it but I've done that for several summers and my bill has never been six hundred and sixty eight dollars this is I don't know why that would go so high Sarah said hers double she did not share the price she's like I'm thinking about getting solar panels yeah it's not a terrible idea anything should not be out of the realm of discussion I mean Laurie says that mine so mine was two hundred is what she's saying but I have a seven hundred square foot house yeah you know and

it's said it's seventy six degrees and it was still two hundred dollars we said ours at seventy two degrees so it's not even like we have it super I don't know I feel like seventy two's average Kathy commented she said mine is always around that much recently I had one of my our friends in West like my friend Angela texted me yesterday when she heard us mentioning it when I posted on Facebook and she said hers was the same in West like over six hundred dollars yes I mean what is that around I'm serious I'm gonna call us about that apples apples cider something which I don't know I get a little nervous about it but if this is legit you can save money I don't know I don't know Serena listen to this Serena says her electric was four twenty five that is horrendous she said her water was four forty five you got a leak I don't know I'm like yeah it's not four forty five even not even especially you don't have to fill that thing out we get a lot of rain and things like that so that is then some people are saying you got a irrigation system I what is going that's there's a catch up with an equal payment budget what's an equal payment budget I don't I didn't choose

that or did I just want to let everybody know that we are adults and maybe we should know this information there is somebody I don't have her name yet that is apparently higher than your six sixty eight fifty two what's that no I'll reveal that apparently higher than that all right that's next star one oh two Cleveland's feel good favorites we appreciate the phone call good morning to you good morning electric bill mine was three sixty four is Jen was six sixty eight and some change Frank just DM does and said his was five forty what about you where do you fall seven fifty seven oh we have a win no no why is it seven fifty seven you have any idea we have a pool that's a big thing got to heat the pool and everything else yep my pool here is gas leaders gas to well the electric gap you run the filter and things like the first the first month it was like seven forty I mean I'm sorry four ninety eight then it was seven fifty seven actually I don't think we did hit on this it's star one oh two Cleveland's feel good favors chase and rich field I'm I missed

it why is Jen's electric bill so expensive yeah we don't have the answer to that we don't know some people some people some people are suggesting it was like some type of average where they are I you heard what we were saying before then you said we're really grown ups but we're not I don't know if someone can answer that question please let me know does anybody and I know we're getting to three things can anybody beat the seven hundred and fifty seven dollar electric bill for your residential residential what do you think the we should find out what is the hallowed building electric bill can we find that who do we call for that I don't know but I'm not calling I don't know same person that fixes the door probably Jen for three oh my goodness

okay it's on the radar the door knob is on the radar they're aware of it I made them aware of it yes really yes and it's so like that it's different okay we can save that for Monday thanks for listening to the Jen and Tim show podcast listen to new episodes daily on your Odyssey app
