On March 23, Texas businessman Jeff Webb has died at age 76 after a severe head injury from a pickleball fall two weeks ago. He played a huge role in turning cheerleading from sideline cheers into a full competitive sport across the country. Webb founded the Universal Cheerleaders Association back in 1974, which grew into the biggest cheercam network in the nation. He said new standards for skills and safety and later pushed cheerleading worldwide through the International Cheer Union, earning Olympic recognition. In 2021, tributes poured in from both cheer and conservative worlds. Varsity Brands, which owns his cheer group, called him key to modern cheerleading's growth and community impact on athletes and coaches. In politics, Webb mentored Charlie Kirk, the late turning point USA co-founder, killed last September.
