The 56-year-old rapper is debuting it at the Roots picnic in Philadelphia on May 30. He has already rode out the change on major streaming platforms. This tweak honors his early career. Cover art from his 1996 debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and its hit singles featured the Oomlao, tying back to those Roots. Fans recall his previous name shifts. Back in 2013, he ditched the hyphen, calling it outdated and even dropped the Oomlao. Then in 2017, he revived the hyphen for his album, 444. The update feels like a full circle moment for his branding. Meanwhile, Jay Z is planning a strong comeback. Rock Nation announced two Yankee Stadium shows this summer. On July 10th, he marched the 30th anniversary of his debut album. The next 9th July 11th celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Blueprint.
