Ascrats is just wrapped up here at Family Sports Center. We've got a lot of updates after Jared Bennard talked to the media. Following practice, got some injury updates. We've got some 11 seven updickutes regarding that formation that was used in the last couple of games. And Bennard responded to some of McKinnon's comments, posting. But before we get into all of those updates, make sure you're sure you guys are liking, subscribing, turning on that post notification. We've got daily updates from our practice morning skate and postkin. Whatever you guys are looking for, we've got it here. So again, make sure you guys are hitting that red button to subscribe, like and do all the fun things here on YouTube getting right into it. Injury updates, Bennard talked a little bit post game about how all horror injured guys in Logan Ocar, Ross Colton, Gabe Lannescog and Archery Leckon and are coming on the eight day road trip that will be starting right after the Dallas game on Wednesday. So that all of those guys will be traveling. It's possible that some of those guys could return to the line up by the end of that road trip. One of those guys I'm really trying to hone on is Logan O'Connor.
He's been skating more with the team recently, whether that's in morning skates, these optional practices like the one held here today was really excited to talk about that progress with Logan O'Connor. There's been a lot of, you know, up in the air updates as far as, you know, what that return could look like. If a conditioning scent is in the realm of possibility for a guy like Logan O'Connor and as far as Jared Bennard's concerned, that's really not the trajectory. They want to go on for Logan O'Connor's return. With the amount of space lacking in the lineup right now, with guys out of the lineup says that it's ideal for Logan O'Connor to return as is and just put him in cold as far as the the abs lineup is concerned. So if you're looking for that return that Eagles conditioning stance, you saw that with Gabe Landis-Gog when he made his historic return to the abs lineup. It's not going to look the same for a guy like Logan O'Connor. Yeaning away from a little bit of that Logan O'Connor news, is exciting as it is to maybe see him return to the lineup. A couple other updates on some of the guys that are so currently in the lineup.
As Brent Burns, as you guys know, he is writing that Iron Man streak and writing it, but he's made it look a little off the last couple of games. And Bennard said there is a good reason for that. He's been dealing with a little bit of sickness recently. So you've seen that kind of come out in the way that he's been deployed on the ice. Obviously still contributing. Nathan McKinnon said post game after last night's game that some of those plays that Brent Burns was creating were some of the best shifts of the night. So obviously, something is going right for a guy like Brent Burns, but he maybe looked a little obju to that sickness. It's not going to affect his Iron Man streak with something that you're at Bennard said after practice today. So nothing to worry about there, but that deployment may look a little bit different as he starts to recover from that sickness a little bit. Another guy may be dealing with a little bit of sickness as well. Somebody may or may not have noticed. You'll keep you on to Bennard kind of threw a little bit out there. And that's it. The post this presser today and saying, you might have noticed his shifts were a little shorter after the game last night.
And that is because you'll keep you on to is dealing with some of that sickness. He really honed in on these optional practices. You're going to see this has become a maybe not as often occurrence as this rush to the playoffs continues. And it's because of instances like this where you see guys like you, I'll keep you on to guys like Brent Burns, other guys in that lineup. Maybe starting to take a little bit of the front of the cadets schedule due to the Olympics this year. So those optional practices and are really to give the guys an opportunity to decide how they want to recover. Whether that's getting touches on the puff, whether that's getting some more time in the gym, whether that's sitting at home and resting and doing what it takes to recover with their bodies in the way that they see best fit for themselves. It's going to be interesting to see how they utilize that in the push to the playoffs, taking up that push to the playoffs. Guys want to get into some more things, especially with that 11 seven deployment and those McKinning comments. But make sure before we get into that, you guys are liking and subscribing. It's really important to help out with what we are doing here at ZNVR.
Again, that push to the playoffs. It's coming guys. We are less than 20 games away. So make sure you guys are subscribing and liking turning on those post notifications. So you don't miss the daily updates. Whether it's a practice, whether it's a morning skate, whether it's after a game, we've got it all here at the NBR. That 11 seven guys is the really interesting aspect of the abs game in particular. You saw Nick Blinkenberg added to the lineup right around the trade deadline. His goal with the team was pretty much you get it. As soon as that name was thrown out and he was added to this abs roster, knew he was going to be a seventh defenseman. But it is really difficult when a guy is that seventh defenseman and he stopped giving those reps that he needs to learn the system and fit in in a sufficient way, in a way that he can be serviceable to this lineup. So it's been really beneficial with a lot of the forwards missing out of this lineup to give Nick Blinkenberg an opportunity to jump into that lineup via that 11 seven lineup. Winter is here and is your home's heating up for the challenge.

When we talked to Brett Koolack after or before the game that yesterday,
he mentioned it's and Josh Manson as Wally mentioned. It's something that everybody is used to. But when talking with Nathan McKinnon, it's not really the absolute. It's not something they're really used to deploying. Just given how their system works, the way that they rush, the way that they deploy a lot of their forwards. And spreading those minutes out across defense men is not enough of a very good thing when you're looking at getting the most out of what your team can provide. So as nice as it is, Nick Lincolnberg mentioned it, that Jared Bednar mentioned it after practice today, that getting those reps in is really nice for a guy like Lincolnberg to get used to the system. But overall, that 12-6 deployment is ideal. That is the sweet Scott for this abs team and the way that they like to work. Another thing is we're in regards to this 11-7 deployment. We really saw it utilized especially after Roswell went out of the lineup. It's a little difficult to play around with that. Normally you see a lot of those call-ups from the AHL. It's not really something that Bednar felt could be really utilized in this instance.
Not only are the abs dealing with a lot of injuries, but the Eagles are dealing with a lot of injuries as well. He mentioned, namely, the other day, they were missing around 10 guys, some of which are in that normal rotation of call-ups that they would normally utilize for guys missing out of the line of like Broxford and Mike Abley and a Dog, etc. So maybe not an option there. We might think he'd mention that that could be a potential option heading into this road trip. So maybe expect some of those call-ups could see a tailoring and a car returned to the full could see a Jason Magna. Whoever it might be, that could be a potential option for the abs moving into this four-game eight-day trip. Finally, what you guys have all been waiting for at the McKinnon comments? He had a lot to say after the game yesterday. It was one of the most candid conversations that I think Nathan McKinnon has had with the media in a long time. Bednar had some thoughts on it. McKinnon, it kind of leading out of that 11-7 conversation. Like I mentioned, mentioned that he doesn't feel like it is the abs way. And while you know, Bednar mentions a lot of that,
you know, it's not ideal, he does agree in that sense. A lot of the other things that McKinnon said, though, Bednar's maybe a little more wishy-washy on it. McKinnon had mentioned a lot about the chemistry and moving around a lot of those lines, felt like some of that was off, felt like there was really not a lot of communication in the room. Guys were really kind of getting lost in what their roles are and what they're supposed to do. They really don't know what they're supposed to do. Or at least that is the feeling in the walkering as far as a guy like Nathan McKinnon's concert. Bednar said, and I quote, I don't completely agree. In any given night, it's really easy to, you know, pick apart the good versus bad things that a team is doing. Jared Bednar said it's especially difficult to, especially easy to feel that way. After getting like last night where there is so much bad and not a lot of good to compliment it. He uses the synology all the time. It's like plugging a boat. You're looking at the bad things that are happening. Go through that in video and plug that hole
in the boat, something else pops up. So that is just something they're going to have to deal with and battle as this push to the playoffs does get closer and closer. Like I mentioned, less than 20 games coming in to the playoffs. The answers are still hot and there's a very short gap as they prepare to face Dallas. And another thing that they kind of mentioned to you, that's the big focus. But some of these optionals like they'd help today. They're really wanting guys to focus on bettering themselves, making sure they're not in the right mindset, not only in the right mindset, but their body is right. What is many guys that are missing out of the lineup? They want to make sure they're as focused and as prepared as possible when battling the second best team in the NHL. For more updates like this guys again, make sure you guys are liking, commenting, subscribing, hitting that post notification bell. So you never miss these updates. You've got more, especially with this push to the playoffs coming out.
