So Jaguars laying off 4,000 employees and they're blaming Trump. Yeah, it couldn't possibly possibly be their poor decisions, the way they changed everything that horrible campaign they did. Yeah. You know, the United Colors of Benetan idiocy and, you know, break molds and break balls. Break, that should have been, that should have been the tagline. Break molds and break balls. Yeah, Jaguars last year, their CEO, I think stepped down, I think it was last year, might have been the game this year, stepped down. Their sales absolutely cratered after they wanted to pivot away from making the gas guzzling vehicles of your into, I don't know, electric vehicles for nobody that cost over $100,000 and they were, they looked like the Barbie car and then they had this awful ad campaign, which is now being used as a cautionary tale by a lot of advertising companies.
They're just like, yeah, don't, don't pull a Jaguar. This has come from creative boom. What Jaguar's controversial rebrand can teach us. We've got, let's see, this is another site says, how CEOs can avoid doing a Jaguar. Yeah, yeah, or Jaguar depends. Jaguar, Jaguar. Yeah, yeah, this, yeah, he was a Jaguar. This is insane to me, but you know, it's not because of all this, it's not because they had record losses, it's not because the new car, the line they rolled out didn't sell and the ad campaign was for nobody and they completely ruined everything. Nope, it's Trump's fault. It's Trump's fault. It's the tariffs, even though things were crumbling before the tariffs and like the tariffs, they didn't help. They didn't help, but that's not the reason that Jaguar crater. They crater because they decided to be something completely different than what they, they, what their target demographic wanted, right? And this is kind of like McDonald's with the Arch to Lux, which was right, just a couple of decades to, to soon, but they decided to, you know, piss off the families.
They're like, well, McDonald's isn't for kids anymore. Come buy our overpriced burger for adults. You, Iki. Yeah. And it went just about as well. New Coke. Except he likes Arch to Lux. I did like the Arch to Lux. It was a tasty burger and I wish they would bring it back, but whatever. They called something else because it's, you know, that, that, that name is radioactive now. Anyway, let's, let's talk about Jaguar and how they're getting rid of 4,000 jobs. I mean, come on. Things are not good. If there a campaign was Jaguar, that probably would have done better if it was, said, a breaking mold, it was a bust and that or something like that. It would have probably been a little better. Bust and that would Jaguar. Well, that was like crazy people. We talked about that before the movie, crazy people, the tagline for Jaguar. If I remember correctly was for men who like hand jobs from women, they barely know. So, you know, busting up with Jaguar. There you go. So let's talk about this before you do the day further, please subscribe for more pop culture news, views and rants.
Guys, yeah, we would if you do go out to clownfishtv.com for more clownfish TV, including podcasting and videos you will not find anywhere else. You have some pay world content out there. We're going to be ramping things up over on clownfishtv.com. So thank you very much for the support. Yeah, let's talk about the layoffs and then we're going to talk about the blame game and then we're going to talk about how we got here. It's very easy to see how we got here. See also Nike. Same thing. Yeah. Jesus, oh man. Is that from a fault too? Right. Jaguar Land Rover 2 cut 4,000 jobs over two years and major cost savings drive. This Monday, they're playing up to 4,000 job cuts in the next two years. The luxury carmaker is targeting $2.3 billion in savings as it faces Chinese competition, a cyber attack and tariffs. But wait, they're not one. They're not a United States company. No, they're not. They're right. So why does it matter what Trump's tariffs does? It was already a price and it was buying them anyway.
But Chinese competition is your problem. Why aren't you blaming China? Yeah, I think the tariffs were because of the cost of maybe importing the Jaguar. That's not thinking, but they were already too expensive. They were not buying them before the tariffs came out. Exactly. That's my point. I'm just like saying that it was because of the tariffs. Now look, again, I think the tariffs have not been a great thing and I think it's caused a lot of problems across the board. So that being said, I give people a pass on the tariffs somewhat. They were having trouble before that for one and two, they're made another country and they're talking about Chinese competition and a cyber attack also being to blame. But no, it's because of Trump. Because of Trump. Yeah. So yeah, good luck with that one. I think what's going on is that people, if dealers aren't importing your cars, it's because they know they can't freaking sell them because they're radioactive. Not literally, but the whole market is... And Volkswagen's doing major job cuts too. Yeah. Those Nazis. Those Nazi folks, right?
Anyway, Britain's Jaguar Land Rover is going to cut 4,000 jobs around 10% of its global workforce as the luxury car manufacturer responds to intense competition from cheaper Chinese rivals, a cyber attack, and Trump's tariffs. No, it's called... I can tell you what your problem is. Your cars are too expensive. They're faggly now. Yes. They're associated with failure and the campaign was stupid. Yes. I mean, that just ripped the band to Jaff. I mean, tariffs maybe, but most of them haven't before that. It's your own damn idiocy. It is your own damn fault. Why can't these companies not just say, oh, you know why we screwed up? That was stupid. We admit that that design didn't work. We admit that this commercial didn't work. No, no. We always have to blame everybody else. We never, ever, ever accept the fact that maybe our poor fucking decisions is what put us here. The company which is owned by India's automotive manufacturer, Tata Motors, I love that. If you leaned into that, Tata Motors, busted that with... With Tata Motors? Yeah.
With Tata Motors, yeah, there you go. It sets targeting roughly 2.3 billion in savings over the next two years while reducing break-events to 300,000 vehicles. So the CEO, PeeBee Bellagee, said the manufacturer would also launch five new products over the next 12 months. Oh, yes, because that didn't work so well last time. You know what they're going to be if they do launch new cars, and I was saying that's a car said products. They would be like, they're going back to what worked. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it would be interesting. Like, oh, now we've got Jag classic. Yeah. It takes gas and it's for men who like hand jobs from women. They hardly know. The automotive industry faces significant challenges with technological change amidst intense competition, ongoing geopolitical uncertainty. Bullshit. You made some really bad decisions and nobody wants your fucking cars. Well, it's not like gobbled a gook for the board because they're probably like, oh, don't fire me. It's everybody else's fault. As part of the transformation will reduce our global workforce. We recognize this will be difficult news for colleagues affected.
We're committed to supporting everyone with care, fairness and respect. Oh, God. You know what? No, this is bullshit. People are going to get fired about you, but you've already lose their jobs because people in charge made dumbass decisions and you all went along with it. So you know, if you're going to get rid of people, I would sweep out the entire C suite. Yeah, because these dumbasses are behind the marketing and all that. These idiots are what caused it. So instead of laying off people who didn't do anything, go lay off those dumbasses. So this was, let's see, when was this earlier in the year or the end of last year, the original was August 1st. Okay. So it was last year. That same time last year. Actually Jaguar CEO steps down after a woke rebrand sparks massive social media firestorm. Before he got gone, they got rid of the marketing company that came up with the, yes, it was stupid. Dumbassery as you call it. Like yeah, these people, this is who you're making cars for and this represents less than 1% of the population right here.
Copy nothing. So yeah, Adrian, Mardel is set to retire. And I love how they, they, they spun that. I remember that. They're like, oh, he's just moving on to other things. He wants to build ships in the bottle and do more gardening with his grandkids. It's like, no, he fucked up. Yeah, he got the torch the company. And they're not going to say, hey, yeah, we fired this guy or we bought him out because he's a fuck up. They never say that. They never do that. They're all like, oh, they're, they're pursuing other opportunities. They're going to be a consultant for our competitors because we want them to fail too. Yeah. So this was a huge mistake. They said, they said the ad didn't even feature a single car throughout the entire 32 second run. People were like, where are these cars going to look like? And then they drop them and look like a damn hot wheels like a Barbie prop. They are awful. Yes. The video blew up on social media, drawing tens of thousands of comments and 47 million views and 24 hours. We covered it shortly after the ad premiered, ex-user is piled on to the company for
releasing what they called Bud Light 2.0 by appearing to focus on wokeness and modernism over selling cars. Yeah. Maybe you could even tell us a car commercial. Like, you, you know, you didn't know that you wouldn't know that was a car commercial at all. No, it looked like a, like a perfume ad from the 90s, like the late 90s or like 2000s. It's like, I don't know what the hell you're thinking. Like they're like, well, we're looking at Apple. I'm like, no, Apple's ads made sense back in the day, the 1984 ads. They made sense. I don't know what the hell you were doing or who you're making cars for. But these things were like starting at like 125 grand. Like I mean, Jags have never been inexpensive, but the car is ugly as fuck and no, I don't think the new car is it.
