Apa, Apa, Apa Thank you all for the praise. You, All木, Take it easy, all- huh? Good luck, High five! Welcome to Episode 711! It's not a gas station! It's originally gathering podcasts! That's right! You were listening to a podcast, and that's for you! If you play Magic The Gathering, whether your favorite gas station is a 7-Eleven, or perhaps you're a quick tri blijphition auto, we're here for you. I'm your come and go, Maria. I'm your buckies, Megan. And I'm your loaf and jug, Tyler. Well, loaf and jug. Is that real? Yeah, it's real. I mean, it was at some point anyway. I know this may have been, I'm pretty sure the loaf and jug I'm thinking of was in my not North Dakota. So I don't know how far outside. I don't think it was like a local thing either. Oh, I think I see loaf and jugs still in Colorado. Yeah, so. That loaf and jug is my username on arena.
Yeah, it is. It does appear that there is still a website. It may be similar to Kmart where it's just, you know, as we've discussed previously in the podcast, like owned by a hedge fund and it's just like a, yeah, it's a fraud corporation. But there is a, yeah, as you can see, it's loaf and then a little in a possibility. Love that. No, no, I think I feel like come and go has come and gone. I do think that is true. Yeah, RIP. I didn't love it. No, I think I've also seen come and goes. Okay. Okay, well, here's what the, here's my quick search. I'm glad that we've really fully gone. Yeah, I didn't even get out of it. Yeah, we're not even getting out of the this podcast. We don't even know what this podcast is about. What this podcast is about. No, I did say it was magic to gather. But no, you have no evidence to that listener. Yeah, that's right. But it does say come and go was a popular Midwest Midwestern convenience story that was fully rebranded into Maverick in November, 2025. I don't think I've ever swat that there was a name Maverick. What is that? Yeah, what is that supposed to be? That's a terrible name for your gospel. I don't want to go to a Maverick. I just want it to be reliable.
Yeah, I want it to be like, I want to go get in and get out. If you want to know what I'm getting, if your gas goes Maverick after you put it in your tank, like that's the problem. That's not going to be a problem. It's a big problem. You're about to have some issues. I think so. You ever eaten Casey's breakfast pizza? Oh, shout out to Casey. It's really good. Yeah, the Casey's is legit. Yeah, the general store of gas. Yeah, yeah. Anyway, I'm going to change to being a Casey's. Okay, that's great. That's so cool. Yeah, quick trip. That's solid. Yeah, quick trip is also solid. Yeah. Yeah. Anyways. I'm back. She really is. Look at that. I brought the chaos immediately. That clubbing clearly. Yeah, I mean, look, it's too weird. It's too weird. Immediately. I had no choice. The episode was number 7-11. What do you want from me? There was no choice. Yeah, I didn't want anything from you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. This is a podcast about magic gathering, but Megan tells you about that. Yes. I didn't tell you that. Did you? I said that it was a podcast about magic. It was a podcast for you. If you play Magic the Gathering.
Oh, okay. Whether you're, and then things get weird. I don't know. Then we went off the rails. And we didn't technically introduce ourselves. Yes. Yes, we got all the way through that part. Wow. Okay. And I know that there's no better listening experience than listening to the host kind of recap, whether they made it through the intro. Or not. Whether they landed the play of the intro into the main part of the podcast. We are here. I love hearing a pilot be like, and I am in the process of landing the play. Or just the pilot and the co-pilot kind of discussing. Did the landing gear go down? Did it go down? Did it go down? Did it go down? I don't know. Did it go down? You remember a moment ago when we were talking about the landing gear? I'm pretty pilot. I do remember that. And I'm like 95% sure that it did happen. Oh, yeah. Is this speaker on click? Today's episode, we're going to talk to you all about a few things. Reality fractures coming down the pike at us. Yep. The pike. Yep. Or I guess so. You can say pike or pike, fun fact.
Okay, well I like that. Both are correct. Yeah, beautiful. So we're going to talk about the pike that is reality fracture. With new mechanics, collectibility for the cards. That kind of thing. And we are also going to talk about the debacle. If I may use a 50 cent word, the Zeta set release. Oh boy. A cool set and a set release. I know. I know. We'll get into it. Hello, welcome back to myself. Back from Scotland. Still slightly jet-lagged, but happy to be here. What an adventure I had over there. It was wild. Yeah. I think that's a perfect place for it. I was just going to make that suggestion. Everybody else just know this. It was a very cool time. It was theater Christmas on acid. So that sounds like a good time to you. Consider the friends. You've ever taken acid at your Christmas party. And it was a little more theatrical. This is for you. Yeah. But before we kick things off, let's do our thank yous. Number one, thank you to our patrons.
These beautiful babies. We love them. You know what we love in their patrons. They're our patrons. They're our patrons. It's patreon.com. SlashGLHF magic is the place to go to support everything that we do at Good Luck High 5 from this podcast to Commander Arcade to our extra long producer episodes, which is 20 bucks a month or more. But for any dollar amount, you get to be on our discord. Yeah. We love our discord. It's a fun place to be. There's the news. There's the news. There's the news. There's the news. There's the news. You can ask and judge question any time, day or night, they will answer. Yep. They have to. Yeah. That's the contract that we have with them. Rob has like an electric shock. Yeah. And all of the he has to wear at night while he sleeps. And so whenever you send it, just know that if you do send a discord message and rob you are shocking. Marie and I have really established one of the most problematic businesses around and I agree. I agree. Saying something. Yeah. But they're cages and collars. The cages and collars. Yep.
We would be attracting a different audience, expecting a different. Different experience. What do you think the overlap is? I think it's strong. Yeah. I know. I agree. Anyway, patreon.com slash G.L.H.F. Magic Join us please. We'd love to give you a punch out on the episode. You're very cool. Let's also say thank you to Card Kingdom. You can check them out at cardcumin.com slash G.L.H.F. I'm telling a card kingdom story because I unlocked a new me personally. I unlocked a new fun family of their website. By that I mean I'm sure people have done this millions of times. Of course, but for you. Yeah. But it's my first time doing it. So we have a new commander arcade episode up. Aaron played a very cool deck from the split feeders. Yes. And this is Choco, a secret paradise deck with a bunch of very cheap birds. Yep. And the deck, I think he says it's cost like 25 bucks. And I was like this deck is sweet. You can see you can click on the notification or excuse me the link underneath our video.
It just is a mox field link that has the deck. And you can go to mox field and click that and buy the entire deck at card kingdom. And I did it. Wow. You did it. I did it. Wow. Wow. Wow. Because it was just like it seemed like a delightful deck. Yeah. It was like a bird. Yeah. Yeah. My experience watching the episode was that it was a delightful and surprising and powerful. And powerful. So it's like 25 bucks. But what did I do, of course? I went in and I changed because you can just change. I was about to say that deck. It's Maria about that deck. It might not be my little version of that deck. Yeah. The only thing I know about when you shop for cards at card kingdom is that you can see all of the fun art veris and all the different costs. And it's so easy because it just imported them all as a list. And it's like, I'm going, what do you want from this list? You can take them off, add stuff on. And then you can say what version do you want of the card? So then I can pick the cool art, the little foil. And since they're all like 10 cents, you know what I mean? Just slap a foil on there. Now it's 20 cents. Yeah. Worth. Worth.
Yeah. Absolutely. cardkingdom.com slash GLHF, the place to go for foiling out all of your 10 cent cards. Faking them? 20 cent cards. I love it. I can't wait to get it in the mail. Thank you, cardkingdom, for enabling me and my problematic habits. But also, what if it passed an easy way if you find a deck that you like to just get the whole thing? Yep. Absolutely. And then I can just put it on a little scoop. All right. Did you all see the Zeta set situation? Well, I mean, I didn't experience it as directly as I believe that you would say. Yeah, I did not experience it in any way other than someone being like, did you see that they called it a disaster? Official quote from Wizzes and the Coles. Official quote. Disaster. I mean, crazy. This is a set that is, it's a new thing that Secret Lara is doing, which was packaging them in booster packs. Yep. So you could get, at least, tiny little booster packs. And the cards on them looked like the photocopy test cards from the original Richard Garfield, like play test magic versions. So they had three different versions of every card.
There's a normal photocopy. There's a negative photocopy version. And then there was like a photocopy glitch version, which had kind of like RGB lines. Yeah, which they're, you know, all very kind of cool and pretty with that. Yeah, it's done with in collaboration with mischief, which they've worked with them. That artist on other secret layers in the past. And that's all open source artwork or whatever creative common. So it looks very, very cool. When I saw this announcement, I'm like, this looks awesome. I can't wait to get some of these cards. They just look really retro and cool. And so I was in the queue for the secret layer. When it went on sale, I jumped in the second. It went on. And I could tell immediately that there was just a problem. The trouble was a photo. Oh, yeah. It was a photo immediately because my queue being in the queue from the very second to the set one on sale, my wait time was like, what about an hour? And I'm like, this is generally what it is. No, dear listener, I waited for five hours. Oh my God.
And it just so happened to be that I want to say the day I got home from Scotland. So like I was kind of just like unpacking and trying to stay awake and stuff. So it was, I just left it up on my computer. Sure. I just saw like my little progress bar like creep one millimeter every hour. And I'm like, something's going wrong here. And anyway, eventually it did tell me that it fired. But at that moment, I was not at my computer. So I missed it. Makes sense. Wow. Maria. That is. That's tough. That is pretty rough here. Can I tell you that's been my experience with the last few secret layers? As I'll get in the queue like the second because I'm usually editing or something. And I get the email notification. And I'm like, oh yeah, I'll be. And I just always missed it because it always takes forever. Yeah, not quite this much forever. But this much forever was a lot forever. So apparently this that went wild. Yeah. I mean, it just completely broke. People were getting a note of numerous notifications that they had bought something like numbers of emails.
Weight times were unbelievable. Yeah. It was just like they said a disaster. Yeah. And I don't feel like people really got what they wanted out of the sale in kind of almost any way shape or form. Yeah. I mean, maybe a few very select people did, but yeah, it's like. Yeah. And it's especially unfortunate because the secret layer already has like this bad reputation for these. Stank on it. Yeah. Has stank on it. Yeah, that's that is what I was trying to say. Just because people. There are limitations to what Wizards can do. There's reasons why they're doing some of the things they're doing. It's and but but nonetheless, people don't have a good time with the ordering system a lot of the time. And it's frustrating because people are like, oh, I'm really excited about these cards. And then their experience is that like it feels like they're almost impossible to get. And even if you do get them like it, like the sort of like what you have to wade through to like get to the place where you can actually order them is often hours of time. So yeah. And I understand that that perhaps is what a company who's trying to make money and increase hype wants to have sure.
Yeah. Well, I feel like this is a two extreme. Yeah, there might be a little bit of that that you want, but I think there's it's really. There's got to be a mid-line here. It's going to slide down the hill until like absolutely disaster as they said because if you're yeah, you want people to be like, oh wow, this was so. Exclusive and feel that way. But if what almost everyone's experience was was like, I have no idea what's going on right now. This was nightmarish. Yeah. It feels like I'm feeling a mess. Feel like I'm mess. Yeah, I think that's probably true. The focus groups are saying a nightmare. So we're going for it. Maybe like nightmarish kind of strikes the right core. I know that they changed over to this system instead of the what is it print to order or whatever. Because it was taking so long to ship somebody something when they got it. Which is another version. Yeah, which I do think I would rather I would probably rather like have to wait in an hour and know after an hour or two
that I didn't get the thing rather than like get it and then wait a year to get it. I do think that I might prefer that experience, but neither one of them sounds like. Yeah. Excites me. Boy, oh boy, did I want to crack a pack of this? It's weird. Yeah, I think it's cool. I like that it was being offered in a pack and I feel like I'm as in franchise as you can possibly get. I mean, pretty cool. I would say that of the three of us you were certainly the most in franchise. Yeah, I agree. And I still was like completely had no chance of getting it. I'm just like, I don't know. Yeah. I don't know. Have you seen the Grizzly Bears though? I know. That is the most brilliant. It's very funny. It's like Goomy Bear. It really is. But it's also like it that he's little squishy. He's a little squishy because he's being full of coffee. He's a little squishy because he's a little fluffy. I love him. But I will say on the other side of things I hate the generous gift. Yeah, sure. I hate it. That makes sense. Oh, yeah, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Turn away from me. I'm sorry if this is like a famous piece of art or something and I'm just tearing it. Yeah. A new one. No one deserves it. If it even if it is a piece of art that exists it deserves it being part of a new one. Oh, yeah. But I love that. I love that. I love that little bit. Grisly bear. What a cutie. So yeah, I'm just, you know, I'm sad. Yeah. It's a bummer. Can we get this back somehow? Please. Thank you. I would like a pack. Truly. Can we make it happen for us? Come on now. Please. Thank you. What is your favorite version of them? Is it the normal? Is it the negative or is it the color streak? It's a great color streak. It's a great color streak. Yeah, I think I, I think that's probably true for me too. I just really enjoy when things have like strange colors to them. So I appreciate that. Yeah. I wish they, I wish the colors. It seems like and maybe it's just from like the art and maybe the cards themselves won't be that way. I wish the color streak was more random.
Random. So do I. Because it looks more all the same. That would make it 100% the colors show to me. And maybe that's just like the artist represented. Maybe that's like the image and maybe the actual card printing will be more random. It's possible if they're actually doing it and you know what I mean? Like they're. Oh, I don't know actually, but it kind of seems like probably not. But yeah, so I think I would say the color streak as well. What do you think of path to exile? I enjoy path to exile. Very good. It just says you are exiled. You are exiled. Well, we, well, we ever see any of these in the wild. You know, we have to ask ourselves. Well, who knows who can say true. I don't know who can say truly who can say. But the piece of the release that they are the kind of hype that they did right was the thing where they partnered with Skryfall and there was like you went on to Skryfall for like that there too. And it was like all weird looking and like what was going on. Yeah. And then they had like Zeta said it was just I thought it was like a really successful way of kind of like dropping the set. Yeah, I agree. Partnering with Skryfall, the much beloved, you know, never-egoed way to find magic together.
Truly. I mean, the fact that it's not the official site of Skryst. I know. I mean, and the fact also that it's so much better. It's a big official site. I know that's been known. Well, that's been known. It is. Yeah. I know what I'm saying. There's got to be still some people that are using the official site to search. Gather? Yeah. There's got to be. Let me tell you, I don't even know the last time that I went to gather. Same. It was not willingly. Something took me there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you use Gather, let us know please. Yeah, try. Yeah, please. And tell us why. And then we'll tell you about Skryfall. I mean, we'll assume that the reason is because you don't know. I don't know about Skryfall. Skryfall. And now you do know about Skryfall. Yeah. Yeah, so let us know. But you know, I can only hope they're going to take some kind. I feel like they can't say this was a quote disaster unquote and not do something about it. I agree. Yeah. So I guess we'll see. Hopefully. I think it's crossed. Yeah. That's your news update, everybody. We'll pray for you. Thank you. No problem. Thank you. No problem.
Don't go anywhere, everybody. We've got a sale for you that you need to know about at Card Kingdom. They're going to be selling dragon shields. They've got a promo running September 12 to the 14th. I think you mean at cardkingdom.com slash a GLA chop. Yeah. Thank you. I do. Yeah. I do. I do. I do. Crucial for ask. Because otherwise they do not know that we said you. And this, this actually supports our other great sponsor dragon shield. Sure. Yes. Because this is a wild sale on dragon shield. It really is. The best sleeves you can get. Yep. You can get them in bulk. A bulk discount, a case of 10. Get them all for a hundred bucks. Get them all. 99, 99, 10 decks of sleeves. I know. That's a great deal. And also you could go in, you know, like you could get your playgroup together and say, like, hey, like how, you know, who needs sleeves? I'm just like kind of pool funds and like it would be a great deal for everybody. What a sale. Yes. What a sale. What a sale. So make sure you put in that address. Like Megan said, card kingdom.com slash gla Jeff, get yourself that bulk discount on some dragon shields.
Set yourself up for the year quite honestly. Yeah. But if you're like, actually, I still want some more other kinds of dragon shields, well, then you can go to dragon shield.com and check out their sleeves on their website. Now you both have been hot about the guild packed series sleeves, which, yeah, Mariel, why wouldn't we be fair? There they are. They're fair because they look incredible. They really do. Yeah. In real life. Yeah, we played with them. Yeah, we played with some of them in our most recent commander arcade episode. Oh, they're, they're so detailed. The, the sort of like contrasting tone for the inside is like so nice. It's so good. I mean, yeah, that's really good. They are. Everything about them is good. I agree. Yeah. If you have any attachment to those guilds at all, I think you, though, it'll be a pretty good. You will not be sorry about it. And I know we put these on your radar before everyone, but the legendary series sleeves are not quite out yet. They're coming soon. We played with them in our upcoming commander arcade and by we, I mean me because I played with the egg or sleeves. They're famous commanders. There's Edgar, Lathreel, Wilhelm, Jyada, Githoth and the Erdragan.
And they are beautiful. Yeah. If you happen to have any of these commanders, the Erdragan ones are out now. The rest, you're going to have to wait, but just make sure they're on your radar over at Dragon Shield to grab those when they come out because they are gorgeous. They really are. Make sure to use code Glegeef at checkout to save yourself 5% on whenever you get at Dragon Shield. Check out that sale over at Card Kingdom. I love when our two sponsors come together. I know. Yeah. It's so nice. Very nice. All right. Is it reality fracture time? Time to get fractured. Wow. Let's see what is different in the world of reality fracture. Yeah. I would say. Oh, I was going to say, yeah, if any, it might just be the same. Yeah. Do you think it's? Do you think it's reality fracture? It's possible to get something to shatter and then come back together in the same way. It could be fractured and then just come back together in the same exact way. It's like one of the possibilities. I guess it is. Wow. It is one of the possibilities.
And if there are infinite universes, and one of the universes reality has fractured and come back exactly the same way, that's what I think too. So I'm kind of disappointed they didn't go with that joke to make the real eff you to the point. And it's just literally secret sister saving it again. It's the same set. I honestly do. I was expecting. I was expecting. I think that I'd be like, I'd be like, word and they caught reality fracture, but it's legitimately just secret just the same. And it's like a full, just straight up reprinting. It's like not different cars. It just is repackage secrets and stuff. Are you going crazy or are you going crazy? If there's not something wrong with me, there must be something wrong with the universe. They're like, nope, they're like, nope. And then they exploit, there's like a long, like, like, to 10,000 word explanation for how it's possible that this reality gets fractured and then come back together again. And if this is actually the most logical way to show that reality fractures can be anything is by having them be exact same thing.
This is the exact same reality that they come back to. They've got a picture at the end of the article is just them on a beach drinking some batteries. Yeah, because there was a whole set of things that have to design it. I'm going to design it. I'm going to go to hell. And you know what? You're like, good for you. You know what? Good for you. Good for you. Yeah. Okay. Reality fractures. Yeah, but let's say that perhaps that's not what happened. Like, let's say that they actually told us some pneumocannics. Yeah. Oh, interesting. The pneumocannics for J.S.'s echo versus what they're calling this is the place or what he's made. Oh, so this is his new reality. That's the point he's called J.S.'s echo versus. Yeah. They wanted to call it J.S.'s mind palace, but true. I scooped them. Yeah. By a decade. By a decade. Yeah. Definitely. Benedict, come back. It's a really state of this set is October 2nd, by the way. So the pre-release coming up for the weekend. Last week in September, I believe. Wow. I think that was 25 through the 27. Wow.
All right. The tagline for the set I just want to say is very funny. It is J.S.'s solution. Everyone's problem. That is. That's actually great. It is really great. Yeah. Very good. It's very funny. It's the J.S.'s J.S. that ever did J.S.s. And I mean, like, is there a better way to sum up J.S. really? No. I don't know if there is. No. I don't think so. That's how he operates. Yeah. He just, he do, he do be making it. He's making it in the problem. He did. He did. He did. He did the problem. He did. He did the problem. Yeah. Okay. So what new mechanics will we be seeing? Well, first up, we're going to see Empower J.S. of course. Why not? Okay. So when I saw this, I thought it was just like Empower. And then it was like, would have it. Could be anything. No. It's Empower J.S. only. Specifically. He is the only one. It is Empower. It is Empower. It's one of those names for a mechanic that is hilarious. It's very strange. It's like, it's like, for, what was the one that was like the weapon one in, it was like for me. For me, it is. For me, it is.
You know, it's like, I get it. And also a hilarious thing. Also very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, Yes. Empower J.S. So Empower J.S. then has a number. And it says, whatever, like this one, this is Proto-Jays Awakening. This is three in a blue for a sorcery. It says Empower J.S. 6 and Draw a Card. Empower J.S. 6 is put six loyalty counters on a Jace token you control. If you don't control one, first create a blue Jace planeswalker token with minus one, surveil one and minus three draw a card. Whoa. He has no plus. Yeah. Which makes sense. I mean, it would be pretty messed up, honestly, if this token had a plus. Like I think that would be, that would be, that would be a real big problem. I mean, the plus is the empowering, right? Yeah. Yes. Yeah, you are plusing it by playing a spell. But I'm saying if it had a repeatable plus, then like, it would just be so annoying to have these tokens that you just take. I'm glad they didn't do that. I'll say that. Yeah. But this, yeah, it's cool design because this is a space that we haven't really seen before.
Never seen a plane's longer token. Yeah. And it's a similar kind of, you know, like it feels, that's not true. We said there was the omnixilist one. You're right. That would play, you know, if you, if you, if you, uh, uh, from, was it exploit or was it exploit? Yes, it was exploit. And if you exploited, so like, sacrifice, uh, something, it would create a copy of the copy. A copy. Yeah. Yeah. Well, all right. We've seen a plane's longer copy token than I said. But yeah, but this own thing, yeah, this one is his own thing. His own thing. And it feels more like, it's his own thing. It feels more like blood or, you know, a clue, which I really like because like this card, it reads three and a blue draw card and then the empowered text. But actually it's three and a blue draw card and then you can minus three to draw another card. Draw another card and then keep this token that, you know, if it stays around, it could draw a third card the next turn or, you know, surveil one or whatever. It's just like there's a lot of modality to it. Yeah. I love it. And, uh, yeah, I'm excited to see all the different ways they play around with that. It's a David S. Pumpkins of, yeah. It's his own thing. It's his own thing. Yeah. He's his own thing.
He's his own thing. Wow. Okay. So I wonder how often it will be that you'll have the opportunity to have a Jace planeswalker token just for a round. I feel like a lot. Yeah. It seems like it's, you know, they've listed it first and this is also a wild way to make sure that like the main character of your set is seeing play a bunch. Yeah. It's true. And you're just like, wow, Jace is an important part of the story. Yeah. He's kind of everywhere. Yeah. He's everywhere. Yeah. Everyone has a battlefield. Yeah. Oh, that's, yeah. I agree. The flavor. It's a flavor I want to. Yeah. Yeah. And then we're going to do Jace's. That's the work. That would be also a cute problem that they aren't legendary. So that's true. But I'm saying you don't get it. It does have that like if you have like I'm guessing probably got another way, a way to create two of them. Although there's always a lot of questions. Rob will probably come on and tell us about, you know, in a few, in a few weeks, he'll come to talk about a crazy way to make you make your own Jace's. So I look forward to that.
But my guess is 99% of the time you're only going to have the one Jace token on your board. Speaking of tokens, the next mechanic that we have is heartwood tokens. So these are artifact tokens that tap for a red or a green. Oh, nice. Yeah. We see it on arid constraria one red green green for a legendary creature elder sphinx five four. So this is like one of the sphinxes of the school. Yeah. Not dragons anymore. No, there's a sphinx. There's a sphinx. Yeah. Flying. And when arid constraria enters or dies create a heartwood token, it's a red and green artifact with tap ad red or green. Wow. So there you go. Yeah. Okay. So now we're making tokens that are just manoram. Yeah. Exactly. Straight up straight up manoram. We're not cracking them like a lander to go get a land. Yeah. And it kind of seems like maybe artifacts could matter because arid constraria also says six create a heartwood token that arid constraria gets plus x plus o until end of turn where x is the number of artifacts you control.
Yeah. And just how this will be like integrated into comments or uncomments if it is because like this is obviously a mythic. So I'm sure we're getting a pretty good rate like you know this coming into play and making one of those that's not you know it's it's untapped. So you're kind of getting to pay for for this for a five four flying and then have an extra red or green to use right away if you want to. Yeah. It makes it's untapped. Yeah. So I'm just curious how the you know I would imagine you're not going to just have like you know two man at two twos that are coming into play and making one of these as an TV. So yeah, I'm just curious how they help us. I guess you must be having some expensive friends. Yeah. Join us in this set. Yeah. That's my guess. Yeah. Well, I do just we're going to we have to finish out the mechanics mechanics, but we do have car and gilded guardian. Who this is a wooberg car. White blue background green gold car and five five vigilance trample and car and enters draw a card for each color among other artifacts you control.
So again, right. Yeah, there's the fact thing and big boy. Yeah, yeah. For you. And I and a card you played a little bit with Megan on our commander arcade episode. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So I am excited to see it. I was there. But you know, I mean in video for. Yeah. And then next up, we have a prepare, which is a returning. Yeah. You know, this is the one way, one major way in which I was correct and they are just doing the same thing over here. Yeah. I expect saving two. Yeah. It's a saving two. I'm prepared. So prepare for those that don't remember is on the card in a similar way to adventure, but different side of the card. And the example is for pompous battle mages, a red for a goblin sorcerer, one one has prowess and this creature enters prepared. And then it's prepared spell, which for those again, that don't remember, it's a creature comes into play. It has to be in play for you to be able to play that prepared spell. So it's kind of the opposite of adventure in a way, instead of playing one side of the
other and then it, you know, playing the spell first and then it goes on an adventure. You can play the creature again. This card has to be in play. Whereas with the adventures, if you play it first, you don't get to play the spell. So. Yeah. Creatures prepared spell is one red mana for a sorcery improvised act. You made this card a card. If you do draw a card, can we have we talked about yet about how the set symbol is Darth Raider's helmet. Yes. I think it's been mentioned, but worth worth worth re-interreading that like it. Trust him, just really. It really definitely is there. Yeah. Because I was, I was trying to remember when I mentioned like, hey, there's some big beefy creatures in the sense to use your heartwood tokens. Yeah. And then you have a new preview card, which is a big, the big one, the big one, the big one. The big one, Emra Cool. Yeah. Yes. Emra Cool, the exigent doom for 10 mana, 12, 12 legendary El drawsy at rare. When you cast a spell on tap, lands you control, flample, ward, sacrifice three permanence. Three, exiles card from your hand, target land gains, tap, add, colorless, colorless, until
this card is cast from exile. You may cast this card for as long as it remains exiled. That's pretty cool. Kind of as an adventure. Yeah. I mean, honestly, that is, you're an adventurous. Yeah. You're an adventurous. Yeah. Is ramping. Yeah. Yeah. So you cast Emra Cool. Wow. And Jason's world, Emra Cool, not in the moon. No, Emra Cool is out. It's interesting. Emra Cool is out. Wow. How do you feel that Emra Cool is out of the cage, but you're not Tyler? Yeah. It doesn't feel great. Does feel like if we could, from my perspective, and you, you may have a different one. In fact, it seems like you do. It feels like keeping Emra Cool in a cage would be more important than keeping me in a cage, just like for the well-being of the universe, you know? But nonetheless, it does appear that Emra Cool is out. Like your pin. Maria and I are more problematic than Jason. It turns out. Yeah, it turns out. It's a, yeah. Wolf, what a way to be. But it is what it is. I'm excited too because we know that these, sorry, I'm going off topic. But these, this Emra Cool that was previewed is the cool, like, sparkly, chatter, foil version
of these cards. Yeah. They look so good. Does look very good. Even the preview versus like the, in person, those cards look even better. Oh, no, yeah. You can't capture it. Yeah, you can. And two dimensions. Unlike me, which, you know, it's been, which, yes, it's been, you can easily capture it. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Super simple, quite honestly. How do you think we're able to do it? Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Don't put, put a bunch of a fight appearance. Oh my God. Yeah. Reality fracture. So those are the only mechanics that are in the mechanics article. I wonder what else is going to go on. Yeah, it's really interesting. Yeah, it's clear that the empower is going to be around in a lot of cards based on this. I would assume because they don't have that many. I would imagine that the Heartwood is a little bit more of like a, like, red grease. Yeah, it seems like it would always have to be in the red, green specific. And it's interesting to cut to because like, I would imagine that each school would have
its own theme, but it must be that none of the rest of them are mechanical, like enough for them to like, increase the particle. Or maybe they're just the same like you said. Yeah, maybe so. Yeah. They just changed red, green and none of the other ones. Well, we do know about the echoed pairs, which I think you could argue as mechanic S. Yeah, sure. Yes, which is where, yeah. So there are legendary creatures and then they have, as we know them, and then they have their echoed pairs. Yeah. I mentioned already the five color, Karn, which is obviously the opposite of colorless Karn. I love that. I love that. Karn Argent Defender, two mana for a one, three legendary artifact creature, Golem, artifacts and creatures entering the battlefield. Don't cause abilities to trigger. Casp. Yeah. Yeah. What? Yeah, yeah. Yalza indeed, Tyler. Yeah. So for these, what did I call them, fractured pairs, echoed pairs. Echoed pairs. Yeah. Are they always going to have both pairs in one pack? Yes, I believe.
I feel like that's what they said. That they said that they're going to, yeah, like each pack will have the pair of both. Okay. Yeah, I know they said that about like the main ones and I assume that that's the case. Let's eat. I want to look at, I will you are looking that up. I want to just talk about one of them because she's so cool. Galta, they unstoppable. Yeah. She's eight in a green for an eight eight. Elder giants are legendary. Casp, X-Lista, Casp were X's the greatest power among creatures. You control trample. Other creatures also get tramps. Pretty cool. But there's also a white version of Galta. Can you imagine? Jace can. She's eight in a white for an 07. What? Whoa. Pretty cool. But the same cast benefit, X-Lista, Casp were X's the greatest toughness. Among creatures you control. Yeah. Creature control can attack as well. They didn't have defender. Each creature can control with toughness greater than its power. A science combat damage equal to its toughness rather than its power. So, but fight with Galta, the immovable. Right.
Here I'm going to read the echoed pairs. Okay. Great. Every reality, fracture, play booster and collector booster contains echoed pairs, which is our way of putting the what if theme of reality, fracture, front and center. One card in the pair represents the magic multiverse. You know. Other represents the echoverse. There are 66 uncommon, 14 rare and six mythic rare individual echoed pairs cards. Each set of echoed pairs includes two cards of the same rarity. So it doesn't say absolutely explicitly, but I interpret that to be. Yeah. I believe that each one is in the same thing. Exactly. I think we can safely say that though I wish they had just sort of said like, yeah, in each pack, they'll both be there. They'll both be there. They both be there. Which one do you take? Well, whichever one is better. Yeah, I mean, whichever one you are in, or you know, there are some ways to decide this. I would take the green gold. Every time, no matter what. No. Okay. Interesting. Very.
Now that you've pressed me on it. Yeah. Yeah. What card are you taking? Five color card. Five color card. Oh, wow. I don't see. Okay. Five color card could also be cast for just engineering, man. Yes. That's true. So have you considered Maria? Well, how many heartwoods do I have put in around exactly? Can we talk about tiny bones in his pair, please? Yes. Of course we can. I love tiny bones. His bones are so small. They're so small. His bones are so small. And yet in the opposite world, they're so big. His bones are so big. Yeah. His big bones. Yes. He becomes, he has Titan bones. I love that. I love it. Titan bones towering heart. Three in a green for a four three skeleton druid. Also, name a cooler card type skeleton druid. I challenge. It is sweet. I agree. Reach whenever you gain life, you put two counters on Titan bones and whenever you discard this card, you gain three life. And the discard thing is because his counterpart, tiny bones, pocket nuisance, two in a black
for two one cares about discarding. He's so small. When he enters, each opponent discards a card. Whenever a player discards one more card, he deals one damage to each opponent. Those are the tiny bones we know. Yeah. Those are the tiny bones we know. And these are the Titan bones we're meeting. Yeah. The first time. I love that in Titan bones, it feel like his head is the same size. Yeah. But somehow his big arc. It does look like his head is the same size. I think it's fair that like if we had tiny bones right next to him, I do think the head is still a lot larger than tiny bones. But it does. It does. And that hood. What I think you have to remember is that this creature is like the Titan bones is towering above the forest canopy. So like all of it is relative. You know what I'm saying? I'm not telling you that. Get a smaller hood. Yeah. You look ridiculous. I do. Wow. I feel like that's your friend a second to go. That really was your friend. In a good way. Oh, okay. I think that you're just adding quote in a good way.
Yeah. As a way of trying. Just like people do when they say something really offensive and then they say no offense. You know, like it's the same basic. Yeah. It's like basically what you just did. You're Kate. Small and smells no offense. Yeah. Exactly. That's the way which we are. Proud of you. Yeah. We've also now met all five of the sphinxes. Yep. That are the heads of the school. Yes. In hex haven, which is Jason's echo verse school. We have an a Zorias sphinx. Hello. One white blue blue for a three four. This is Denzel or Fatehold, legendary creature elder sphinx flash flying whenever you scry or surveil put a plus one plus one counter on each creature you control. Nice. Seems like a card you would enjoy, Megan. I must say. Flash. I love scrying. I love surveilling. And you get so many counters. You get so many counters. Just for doing what you love. So nice. So nice. We have the Demir sphinx, uh, old roast, theorix.
Yeah. Older roast. Older roast. That's what we're going with. Something like that. Three blue. Black, black, old roast. Black, old roast. Oh, roasted. Five, five elder sphinx flying. What are the answers? If you cast him, you get to ex out one target nonline card of each card type from your graveyard and copy those cards. Any number of those spells, the total amount of value six or less from along them without paying their mana cost. Nice. Sweet. Pretty nice. It would be fun in a discard deck. Yeah. Yeah. Like with tiny bones. Tiny bones. They could be friends. Yeah, they could be friends. I just want to throw that out there. Um, and then the Ractos, uh, uh, variant here is, uh, and this would be, uh, like, uh, I think this is meant to be like the black way, right? Like, um, silver quill. Silver quill. Yeah. This is Stinger quill. I'll say I've said it before in this podcast. My least favorite of these, uh, weird names. It just seems, I just, something about it. I just really thought. Porky Pines love this one school. Yeah. I guess so. But it just seems, I don't know.
There's something about it. I don't get on board for it. But I do like the card, which is black red red for a legendary creature elder sphinx as flying. It's a one for and the text is whenever a creature control attacks, that creature deals one damage to each opponent. So that's sweet. And then it also has four colors to create a two to colorless wizard soldier creature token named cadet. And creatures you control gain haste until the end of turn seems like a sick commander. Yeah. I did play it as my commander in the end again. Yeah. It was, yeah, it was, yeah, it was definitely a lot of, yeah, I love this kind of design of a card where there's, it kind of powers itself. I didn't play this, but it does have like a semi infinite, uh, combo with, uh, mana echoes because if you just have enough wizards on the field, you can make infinite wizards so that's kind of, yeah, that seems cool. And it wizards. Yeah. I love that. I think you can build a super sick deck with that card. I agree. Yeah. Um, we have Eric Constraury who we already read. They're the gruel spinks. Yep. Make the last one. The card we're talking. Yeah. Yeah. And finally, we have the vigor blooms, which I think this one is my least favorite name.
Fair enough. Queer. Queer. Queer. Vigor bloom. Yeah. Feel you. I can see you. I can see you. Okay. I can see you. I can see you. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Whenever you gain life, name a, uh, create name name name name. Name a born child. Name a born child. What? Just name one. What about whenever you gain a life name an unborn child? Oh, I would love that. I've got some great name ideas. Yeah, but it does feel a little problematic because you're just like, you know, it's, it's like compulsory name and that you get to choose. Yeah, you get to choose. All right. But whatever you gain life, name an unborn child, create a colorless artifact token named Lotus with tap sacrifice is token add three man of anyone color. Disability triggers only once each turn. So you're making black Lotus. That is fun. That's pretty cool. Holy cow. That's sick. That's really interesting. Yeah. This card is a problem. Yeah. I mean, especially obviously an interesting, if you're playing in Commander, an interesting card to try to like maximize because like it only wants each dream.
But if you have some instant speed gain life, you know, you could make a couple black low test. Not even black Lotus just low test side. Yeah. But yeah, but in the spirit of Lotus, Lotus, Lotus, Lotus, Fingies, Lotus, Fingies, Lotus, Fingies, Lotus. How did you feel when you saw White Liliana question for the table? I felt normal. Yeah. I gotta say, I don't feel like I have some of these characters. I don't have the same like my, my like true. I played at the beginning, you know, when I was first playing, it was during like the Urza's block and like that rough time period. So there's some characters there that I think I have a little bit of nostalgia attached to you. I think a lot of the characters that came in through that like all of these characters were introduced in a time when I didn't really play the game. So I kind of met them after the like context to the art event. Lurewin. Original Lurewin. Yeah. I was not around for that. So the context was kind of not there for me. So I feel like I don't have, I get that it's different, but I don't have like an emotional reaction to it. Sure. Sure. I think, I don't know.
She looks so cool. That's a cool thing. I'm a big Liliana fan. I think she's totally BA. Yeah. Even her white version, I'm like, girl, you still got it. Yeah, I got. She does know. Yeah, I agree. It feels strange, but somehow still right. Yeah, fair enough. Well, that's good design on their part then. Yeah, I guess so. And her card art is just beautiful. Yeah, it really is. That's the chill. Liliana the Foulless. Whenever another creature or planes working control enters, she just causes single white man. You gain a life. One, tap, discard a card, another target creature planes work. You control gains hex proof until end of turn. And a great piece of flavor text as well. All mistakes can be fixed, even you. Whoa. That says roast. That says roast. That says roast. Wow. She can really spit fire art, girl. Yeah. But the version, her normal version, quote unquote, Liliana the repentant. Her that flavor text is quote, my mistakes are mind-to-fix. Hmm. Feels a little more like a healthy perspective on it, but less quippy.
Yeah. So, you know, teach their own to what you'd rather be. Is she gonna fix Jace? Maybe. Maybe. Someone's got to stop him. Yeah, I don't know. He's fixable, but he might be stoppable, you know? Look, I can fix him. Jace, I can fix him. My toxic trait. But very cool stuff that we've seen already so far for sure. Yeah. I'm super curious how the echoed pairs, having the same, I'm not sure how it'll feel in the draft boosters, what I'm interested in. Is it, we'll have like a really distinct feel, or is it more just pure flavor? Because maybe the cards, you know, if you just ignored the fact that they were named the same card, they're not like, you know, you can't play both of them. And so, I'm just curious. It's a cool, it's a cool flavor thing and I'm curious if it'll also show up as some kind of effect on like the actual decision you're making. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. Well, we already know Mane's taken five-clarer card and she can never walk that back.
So every time she sees it, she has to take it. She has to take it. Yeah, that's just the way it is. Yeah, that's how it's going to be. My own personal opinion is that like neither one of those cards is probably like a, you know, strong first pick. And you know, you know, it's not the rare couple that you want to see, but that's just my opinion. I want to pick the biggest dumbest card in the pack. I don't know. Well, I think that that's five-color card. I mean, definitely. I'm sure it is. In most packs, I think that's going to be five-color card. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So yes, this set releases on October 2nd, friends with the pre-release, the final week of this month. What? And only there's still one more set after that. So I got Star Trek. Star Trek, yep, absolutely. I know. I feel kind of like a man out of time because Hobbit occurred when I was gone. Yeah, sure. And kind of experienced the Hobbit in like the same way you would experience most sets. Yes, I did experience it though because I did go to pre-release some of that. As you gave a report on.
Oh, I wanted to ask you all this question. Since now we're into September, what was some magic takeaway from your summer? You know what I mean? You're a hot magic summer. Hot man. A lesson you learned, something you'll keep with you perhaps, just something that notable about your magic summer. Perhaps we started a new school year with another secret of Strix Safe and Set because what was the cost-wanted abacation? That's a great question. Are we talking about just like what would you define the summer? Would it be like from when to when am I kind of trying to draw this lesson? Is it from the whole year up until this point? No, it's summer. Yeah, I know. Okay, great. So, you know, June 1st. Okay. If you want to. Great. I'm date on it. Okay, I'll tell you guys. Yeah, please. You guys. I'm just asking questions because I don't know why I thought of it. But I was like, well, what did I learn this magic summer? I didn't have a ton of experience with Hobbit because I was like too busy doing a lot of stuff to play. Yeah. Very often. But when I went to that game store in Edinburgh to play the pre-release, I was like so
worried. I was like, oh man, what is this going to be like? I'm scared about going to a new store and what's my experience going to be. And then I was just like, you know what, where your fear starts, you know, like that's where your personal growth is happening. Yeah. And I went to it and I was like one of the greatest magic experiences that I've ever had. And I just felt so like happy about the state of like where you can go anywhere in the world and find a store which is welcoming lovely people. And you know, of course, always going to be the case. There's some bad stories out there. But I mean, there's so it appears to me there are a lot of good ones and a lot of good people who play magic. And like, I just, you know, I just was like, you know what, going up to the edge of your fear and just like taking that step over and you find you, you get to grow in ways that you weren't expecting. And so that's what that's what my magic summer gave me. Great answer. I'm going to say, and this is maybe slightly cheating. So you can call me if you want. But I'm going to say that it was, I think the Hobbit was the moment I realized that this year, the limited sets have been a lackluster in comparison to last year's sets.
So I am kind of talking about the whole year, but I was true that like the Hobbit was like the moment where I was like, I've enjoyed parts about the Hobbit and I've enjoyed other limited sets this year. It's not that I've had no enjoyment of limited sets. Like I definitely have like T&D Ninja Turtles. I thought that was like a lot of fun. But there, I would say if you put it pound per pound, stack it against last year, I think last year just had a lot more bangers and like the highs were higher and I don't think the lows were lower, you know what I mean? So I guess they maybe were a spider man. Spider man. Yeah. We don't even, that's kind of like a race for people's memories. And as I said on this podcast, I did kind of enjoy Spider Man because I've won a lot of spider man. But so I'm not going to apologize for that. No, no, do not apologize. Okay. But that's unless that gets me out of the cage in which case. Nope. Okay. So I won't apologize for that. And I also say that, yeah, I was just the moment when I was like, you know what? It's not that I've hated the limited sets this year, but I feel like they've been last lackluster when stacked up against the admittedly high standard of the last five years of limited. Very high standard last year for sure. And so I would say, yeah, I'm hopeful that the last two sets of the year will give us
at least one like set we look back on and be like, oh, yeah, like this was a great, you know, All right, no pressure. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. So that's, yeah, that was be my takeaway from the summer. Okay. Great. How about you, Megan? Um, I think mine is that, do you know what? Mine will be like, I can quickly fall off. I can quickly fall off the plane magic train if the draft set isn't good. Yeah. Yeah. That's fair. You know what? I didn't realize like how important that was. A good draft. Yeah, it is for me. Yeah, especially with the habit also coinciding with, you know, like a lack of winning, let's say, you're initial some big time losses for me. Some really just absolutely abysmal results. And you know, it's the same. I mean, I would feel the same. All climber of bad stuff. Because I, yeah, if I'm not winning, I'm not having fun a lot of the time. And so, yeah, I will, I'll, I'll. I know, the thing is, is that like if, right, like, Laura and I struggled with for a while, but then I came around on it. Yeah. Okay. Eventually enjoyed it.
Yeah. That never happened with Hob. No. Yeah. And I tried you all. Yeah. I tried. No, you tried. I edited. I heard you're, you heard me trying. And I would have gotten it. And I tried some more. I know we recorded that episode and you texted me a picture of that and you're like, I feel like this is going to go well. It's going to be the one. And then it was the one. All bad. Yeah. So, yeah. It's a good lesson. You know, it's good to know. It's a, that's a lesson for our friends at Wizards who are currently on the beach with their my tied. Yep. Yeah. If you just put some effort in. Oh my god. We're never going to talk to ever again. Yeah. Well, we, you know, we could edit that out. No, it all stays in. All right. Fair enough. We're real. Here at Good Luck High five. Yep. Well, I'm excited to get back into it quite honestly because yeah, I didn't play much on it either. I, I guess I couldn't say if I won or lost. I suppose I lost. I was exactly even from my prerleaster to. So, exiting the same way I entered.
That would be it. I just occurred to me that like that would be kind of for, you know, we could, that, for maybe as we get towards the end of the year, we could look back on our like drafts, you know, just like, or whatever, like whatever data we have from our own personal drafts, we could look back and say like, oh, look, what was the year and we know what were our sets that we loved. Right? And what did we lose? Could be a recap episode of what we maybe could do. All right. Put that in your, put that in on the wall of your cage with like the title ideas. Okay. Great. I'll put it right next to you. It's so dark. I'm not even going to say what I'll put it next to. What? Well, I was going to say I'll put it next to like what I've just like with my fingers like dug into the walls of the cage. What? Trying to make sure. Yeah, try to, yeah. Well, just, well, no more like given little tick marks about like how many days it's been like trying to, you know, because I have no idea. I mean, like I assume based on like the number of sets that have come out that it must be December right now, you know? So like I'm not, I'm not positive, but that's what I've got for my pretty hot in here for December though. Wouldn't you say? Well, but it's always hot in this room. So that, that, you know, like, and it's always hot in my cage too. Yeah.
It's right over the, it's right over the boiler. It's like right on top of the boiler. So yeah, just unpleasant in there all the time. Hey, everyone. That's our episode. Thank you so much. We're hanging out in this fraction, fractured version of reality where it's not quick trip. It's trip quick. Whoa. Wow. And it's filled with a cube. And it's filled with a cube. Yeah, it's actually, actually, it's just quick trip. But it's not normal. It's not normal. No, but he would go there. This place is crazy. This is not whimsical enough for my gas tank. Yeah.
