Israel seeks green light from US to resume attacks on Iran

About this episode

Israel's defence minister says the country's military is prepared for a resumption in the war against Iran, saying he's waiting on a green light from the United States.

Israel Katz is also threatening to return "Iran to the age of darkness and stone" by attacking energy and economic infrastructure.

It echoes a threat earlier this month from US President Donald Trump, who pledged to bomb Iran "back to the Stone Ages" unless it reached an "acceptable" deal to end the war.

Meanwhile, Israel and Lebanon have been holding their second round of peace talks today in Washington DC with the current 10-day ceasefire due to expire next week.

  • GUEST: Gershon Baskin, Israeli peace activist and former hostage negotiator
  • PRODUCER: Pip Cook
