Is the Quentin Coleman Hype Real?

About this episode

Quentin Coleman's name has been gaining serious momentum entering his freshman season at Illinois. The 6'4" guard averaged 23.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists as a senior, earned Gatorade Missouri Player of the Year honors and led Principia to a second consecutive state championship. He also helped Brad Beal Elite win the Nike EYBL Peach Jam championship and earned a spot on USA Basketball's U18 national team. Shooting is the obvious attraction.

Coleman shot 50% from three during his senior season and around 39% during EYBL play.

James believes Coleman has a chance to become Illinois' latest one and done NBA prospect. On NBA Draft Junkies Live, Rafael and James break down the growing hype, his NBA strengths and weaknesses, his potential role at Illinois and whether he'll get enough opportunity to turn the preseason buzz into legitimate first-round consideration.

I Didn't realize it was Wednesday to probably like to a clock You know labor day got me thinking that it's Tuesday. I take Wednesday so we need to Friday sooner, but Man woke up this morning, man. I don't know I go playing He hadn't I didn't know those Wednesdays there and I didn't even know like football was on right that kind of threw it off Because I saw people tweeting about football. I'm like dang is it Thursday Like now. Why is it football on a Wednesday? Is there like a game on tomorrow? I'm out. I don't know. Yeah, there is, but it's green, man

It's a good follow. I don't follow football. I used to but I don't follow football anymore Anyway, let's get right into it Quinn Coleman His name has been buzzing a lot lately Every year around this time There's a guy that may not be a five star prospect. He may be a four star That you start seeing draft Twitter and just different draft pundits You start to see his name rise and I think this year it is Quinn Coleman and I want to know like where did the hype come from Well, he played for Brad Bila Leite. They wanted peach jam. Very good team. JJ Andrews Quinn Coleman seek Pearson Tray is a trade Pearson Messing up names seven footer that um The went to I believe Washington. No, I went to market. He registered really good point guard But they're really good team like Quinn Coleman average like 12 on that team

He was a third leading score So that just goes to show like they who are very unsuffered team. They want to peach jam very good team And then he he Quinn Coleman played well The following you know high school season as well So and then you factor is you know, Keaton Wildler comes out of nowhere He's been the fifth pick in the draft. So you know, Illinois has got like a high thing going If he's able to live up to this hype he would be the fourth straight First round pick from Illinois starting with Terrence Shannon Then your boy Caspar as Yaka Chonis. Yeah, I don't know why you say my boy Yaka Chonis You know, it's not a Yaka Chonis fan. I mean, he's still in the league man. Your boy. Yeah, Yaka Chonis Keaton Wildler goes five and Quinn here we are in Quinn Coleman. So Then he also was one of the I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing but he was one of the bright spots for that under 19 team that lost I think it's 18 18 man

He's under 18 team. Yeah under 18 team that lost to to Ken the he he played well Throughout that tournament. So I think it's some of it is warranted. I do have some questions But we'll definitely get into that What do you think the the height? Is it realistic do you think where does it come from? What are your thoughts? I I get it. He's got good size at 64. What's the word the nerds use scalable? He's scalable has the defined role and I think anytime you have like a defined role where you know What you're getting out of a player every day kind of makes them a little easier to scout and his defined role is as a shooter He's a lights out shooter. I think he shot like 50% from three as a high school senior Something something crazy like that but I know it was in the high 30s maybe even in the 40s in the ybl But what I like about him is the the obvious shooting Um, he's got a motor

He is a really really good rebounder especially on the offensive glass. He goes after it like he's not a guy that You know, he gets rebounds because he's more athletic than everybody else He gets rebounds because he wants the ball and he has a nose for the basketball ball on the offensive glass He's also a good cutter. So I just think his game is pretty simple. He's gonna shoot the three. He's gonna hustle make the hustle plays the energy plays and then he's just an intuitive backdoor cutter and so he may not be a guy that's gonna Put a lot of pressure on the rim off the dribble, but he can Pressure the rim in other ways, which is again, backdoor cutting run in the floor in transition But I mean he can't put the ball on the floor. My question is what position is he? I feel like I have the same question. Ah So he had a two to one. It's just a term ratio, which is good But I think he's more of a ball mover than a playmaker

And because he's more of a ball mover than a playmaker. I don't think he's gonna be able to At least early on play point guard now. He has some some point guard upside Then I think that adds a lot to his retreat. I can say I agree with you You kind of know what you're gonna get quick quintin Coleman and why he isn't the best athlete like his second jump It's really really good as far as like on offensive rebounds. Um I'll share my excusey my scouter notes like I said really good shooter two to one assistant to an old ratio Again, more of a ball mover than a playmaker strong on the glass I think he does have some individual creativity off the dribble But his handle can stand to tighten up He does get to his spots and I think he's a below the rim slash at the rim athlete And like I said questions can he play point guard and what does it look like for him in picking roll as a picking roll ball He had a lot of success

Especially in the yb yellow. I I could I like to to focus more on your Not necessarily your high school team Numbers and stats and film But what you do in the shoe circuit is really important because again, that's the best best as far as the talent level And like you said he was off the ball a lot and I just wonder if he can play point guard Not necessarily knocking him for not playing point guard because the point guard for Brad Billy was really really good And you know, there's no need for you to be an additional cook in the kitchen when you have a maestro But for Illinois um Where did his minutes come from is he going to be able to play point guard or at least a combo guard Those are the questions and like I said really a picking roll he didn't he didn't have a lot of picking roll ball Handler reps playing for Brad Billy Lee So I want to be able to see what it looks like for him to pick a roll You know one of the things that Now that that I'm back in this podcast space or even just content space after

Been in base-scale for season. I just feel like I'm just gonna be a thousand percent more transparent Than Denever like I just I don't care anymore. You know what I'm like. I'm just gonna be honest. So with that being said When I watch Brad bill elite in Phoenix last year. I think it was session one Yeah, I think it was session one I didn't see anything. I don't remember him like he didn't stand out whatever he did It wasn't loud to me and maybe he didn't play I'm not sure, but it wasn't it wasn't loud like sometimes when you walk into a gym And you see a guy and it's like you get it like JJ Andrews Like I think one game he had like a game winning shot like it was loud like he made it known And so for me, maybe I just overlooked it and maybe I've just been transparent honest, you know I think a lot of people make it seem like everybody popped like this person was the NBA prospect the the first time I saw him and for me. I don't I don't necessarily remember him

But maybe I'm wrong, but with that being said that is kind of scary for me when I watch you in the high school setting And it doesn't pop like the film doesn't pop now the film did pop When I watched him at the the you 18s America's this summer and it popped because the shooting the range and just how active he was So I don't really have a strong feel on him now And the next like bullet point is is the hype real I think it's warranted But I think it may be a little bit over valued because I just think a lot right now people are scared to miss out on the next keen wagler right So You know, he's going to Illinois. We all missed out on wagler Maybe there's somebody that got it right. That's all that wagler is going to be who he is at this time last year But I think now that Brad Underwood has been producing these fresh round picks To an arrow as far as freshman because ternchanter was not a one to done ternchanter. No

He's 24 I think 23 yeah Yep, so I do think that the The scouting lens may be a little bit magnified, but again, I like what he brings to the table And I don't know if it's just me, but he seems like he I mean, he's related to the Christie's he looks like he could be max Christie and what's the other brother's name Cam he looks like he could be in the the Christie family So I don't I don't think the hype is Unwarranted I just don't know how real it is and the reason I'm a little concerned You know quick to not not quick to just lock him in as the first round is because I don't know if he has this clear path to like Being able to like really be the man at Illinois, but then again like somehow Wagler was able to do it last year. Maybe he slides into that spot

But I like Vox the the Providence transfer My or fact he was kind of talking a little noise like a Rest conference. Yeah talking about the the coach at Providence didn't believe in him or something like that I like him I know he's gonna start I know the Yacht of it is going to start Is the Yacht of it's going to start Yeah Say that because Mark of it doesn't start any V6 is going to start David Markovitch Well, this is why I say Um, I don't know if it's the Yacht of it's just going to start it doesn't matter that if he starts or not He's gonna finish games He's gonna play 24 minutes. He's gonna have a super high usage whether he starts or comes off the bench like that Dude is about his buckets You know like he's the super six man in Cod's basketball. So I don't necessarily You know, I don't I don't think it matters if he starts um

But as far as Quint Coma goes in Illinois Um, who's the point guard on this team? And is it gonna be Vox because Vox can handle the ball He's more than just a shooter like he's pretty good in picker roll and do you have him and can him and Quint Coma play together? I'm sure they can uh I just Illinois has they have guys and I don't necessarily think he needs to dominate if he is a Really good shooter who Is active on the glass and continues to have a two to one is his eternal ratio. It just comes down to What else does he do besides shoot not to say he's one dimensional. I think he can't create his own shot But I just would like to see some point guard reps from him. I don't have the measurements in front of me But they list him at 64 180 Um, my eyes I mean I haven't seen him a person, but I don't know if he's 6 1 180

If he's 6 3 Then you know, what does that mean? Um, what's the wingspan look like is he really 180 like we'll see but like I said uh, I think he is in position To and because this draft is so wide open Uh, it may not take it is it's not gonna take a Keaton Wagler type season For him to warrant first round Uh, now say Keaton Wagler like the production In the highs you I didn't have that before you 6 point game or whatever Keaton Wagler did but it is just It's not gonna take as much for him to we come first round pick as a dig Keaton Wagler who had a phenomenal season Uh, because like I say this draft is really really wide open So I'm going to play a little bit of I was gonna say devil's advocate, but I'm gonna play a little bit of James Barlow Disceptive oh, whoa, what does this mean? What does this mean? How wrong? You know, I don't want it to be all on you as you know, you're the one that here's a little skeptical, right?

Not not in a bad way. You just keeping it I just have questions man. I just have questions a lot keeping it a thousand So the Quinn Colme get over hyped because You know, even though that team USA won silver Let's just be real that competition in the the U 18 Americas It's not very good. You got a bunch of countries you know disrespect You know when you say no disrespect you really are But you know, it's you know, just a bunch of teams from the Americas not a A reason that is you know, I mean like no means He's not a comeback in Canada in the United States Yeah, now losing a Canada is back because Canadian when they Play as a collective that are usually pretty bad even though they produce a lot of talent I mean we saw that after you 17s. I mean the team kind of Always underachiefs to me and like the Olympic play and and like euro or not euro basketball the world cup

Anyway, no disrespect to Canada even though I am like sneak dis in a little bit We should have lost to Canada, but I think that Canada that Canadian group is a little bit different as far as just They just they want But I always say this when you talked about this we were covering Uh The U 17s this summer like if you're gonna beat us your point guard has to be awesome Like if your point guard isn't unbelievable, you're not gonna beat us Because we're gonna have the size and like you just got to beat us at the point of attack And that's what Canada did with JVR 10 Dell and he's good He's really good. Yeah, so but if your point guard isn't if his foot isn't on the gas You're not gonna be an American youth team. I don't think yeah So and my points valid like his stock and buzz you know kind of got magnified for being the best player on the on a team that wasn't that disappointed I should say or just the competition wasn't

You know, it wasn't the greatest like Yeah, where did he I'm trying to blank where did he originally commit to is it I think wake force wake for us so He and again when I try to be negative, but You ride the Illinois wave shout out to you know making that choice You play well for a you know weaker tournament Hey do what you got to do you have no control over playing against Costa Rica and those guys Uh, I mean you just I understand what you're saying so But like I said, I think I think he's in a position He's setting himself up to be a first round pick if he plays well Uh, yeah, I don't I don't have any doubts about about that at all. I just wonder is like He ever is like 11 points. He did average 11 rebounds He did average 11 rebounds per game and two and a half assists

He shots however 29% from three In that particular tournament Yeah, I mean, I thought that was interesting Yeah, I thought everybody was bad. I mean like in a bigger sample size On the EYBL each shot 38% from three including 35% on jumpers And 30% off of the dribble and shot CC for still on layups. I think you know Go ahead Yeah, that's that's what makes this interesting to me is that his name kind of Skyrocketed because usually the guys that you talk about are one in dunes at this time are like five stars, right He wasn't a five star dependent on the ranking service maybe somebody had him But I saw ESPN had him as a four star recruiting Then he goes and he averages 11 and 11 and two assists per game But the main skill set that people love about him is the outside shooting or just the shooting period And he was seven of 24 over five games and he was just three of eight from the free throw line

A lot of this point in that tournament was just That motor that that motor yeah, like he had seven offensive rebounds against Argentina Um, I mean he had 15 that game. We had 10 rebounds against Mexico 12 rebounds against Brazil Um, they played Brazil again and then in the game against Canada Which was the championship game he had eight points and 10 rebounds so The rebounding and the motor stood out the shooting the shooting did it now if he can put that together Like if he can I mean we already know he's a good rebounder But if he can like be an elite rebounder at the Garzpot Along with being a sniper then yeah, he has a case, but I just feel like the again small sample size. It was a little bit uneven I thought everything everybody was bad though Like we did the Bruce Branch episode I forget his stats from that Canada game, but he was just running up and down the court And you know there was just no impact and you know at least we quit in Coleman you like you know what

Shot maybe off. We know he's gonna hit the glass. I just I don't even know if I can lay with him a combo guard, but I think he is a a shooting guard But the rebounding is very very good and I just wish or I would like to see him be able to To play more point guard. I don't even you know when I was doing some initial scouting I was like I might kind of reminds me of like a CJ McCullough at least the build CJ McCullough I'm tired, but I don't think he's that kind of like Player and again CJ is shifty He is the professional get to it bucket and it's not fair to I mean What did CJ look like when he was 18 19 years old like he was probably 511 I think he said when he was at Lehigh So it's it's kind of hard to compare guys to CJ McCullough But what if he's like Quentin Coleman what if he's like Devin Vassel But Vassel how tall is Vassel? 6'5

Not that big Yeah, we just say it's 5 Excuse me guard But he plays like a small four Does he remember that cell seems a lot bigger than 6'5 Man, he was to that 6'5 I know it's because he got his drizz tied up behind his head But and he plays like a small four but I swear he's 6'5 Yeah, we see that wingspan 6'10 wingspan I don't want you he plays like a three is what I'm trying to say I don't I don't have Quentin Coleman some wingspan If he's a smaller Devin Vassel I mean, that's still a very productive player Yeah And maybe that's who he is like I said I just want I want to see Selfishly I want to see him be able to handle the wall and make plays out of picker off That's not you that's perfectly fine because you don't turn the wall over when you just make in you know The right re so that's just me being selfish though All right, give me a best case scenario in your opinion That puts him in let's say the lottery range. What what would he need to show or do

if he averages 13 5 and 2 And he shoots 36 from 3 And really he could be a 6 rebound for game god because we know he has the motor to do it I honestly think that might be good enough to put him in the lottery Yes, you know again Now his his measurements are going to be Again, I don't have the measurements in front of me, but his how he measures at the combine may tell a a even you know Better story of what kind of prospect he is is he really six four is he gonna measure at six? I mean, he's gonna weigh in at 180 like those are going to be tell tell so he's kind of skinny, but again, he's young Um, yeah, but you know again because those guys I would run that you 18 to you a lot of them are in high school Yeah, one of the guys actually like Was listed as a junior in high school till he reclassified up

Who's that? Dicks No, man, I can't keep up with great dicks is bad, but uh, yeah, I think I think 13 Six rebounds it's almost like it's crazy if he has the same statistical profile as Caleb uh, hope Then but he shoots better now he's not gonna be the defender. He's not as big and as strong as Caleb hope But if he has that same like 13 Five rebounds to assist and he shoots the far away. I like you have to test Yeah, on a team that should be a you know very good team. Yeah, go to found a fool. All right, let's get look at the comments Sherwin 2025 starts off saying good night. Well good night to you my brother This is how tall is Quinn Cole when I see a lot of Alan Houston in his highlights Yeah, you know, I had the shooting I mean Alan Houston had a picture perfect stroke Alan Houston wasn't rebounded like

Quill my I like used the new layman my role is to man, I catch it let it fly But you know hey that that would be a great great outcome And then the Montsee Stewart 845 845 I wonder is that you know the area cold around Illinois Around Chicago says I believe he will be back for year two And then he goes on a sadduble if he would be a top 10 pick with a second year in college. What are your thoughts on that? I'm not mad at that. Oh I honestly think if he shows the When he shows the ability to play on the ball as a ball handler then and that to me makes him like a Certified top 10 pick Because again, he's athletic enough shoots the ball well enough Crafty enough like you give him some on ball reps. You can be more of a decision maker I that I see the appeal of that as a top 10 pick, but I have something off script

Ralph I really like what I saw from Lucas Maria. Oh Yeah, I think he Not no disrespect. I want to say no disrespect, but he could be the sleeper um If not this draft next year's draft this looks really a six seven and he can really handle the ball and make good decision Now the shooting needs to improve, but like six seven playmaking wings usually Like have some success and I like uh you got to You get to watch the Nike who sometimes I know you were in France and at times. I was probably crazy But basically two dudes could dribble back. I've seen him play though on the I forgot. Who does he rocks Yeah, I saw a great city rocks, but yeah, I know on the national team. I saw um I want to say is that the u19's last summer in Switzerland. He's one of the leading scores Yeah, but what I was saying is and at Nike who's something only two dudes could dribble the ball up the court

With that full court pressure of firm Brandon McCoy Jordan Smith killed hope. What was my outsider who had his way And the other was Lucas Maria like he was not phased by the full court pressure now Uh, riffs boy Adam Atama man screened by Brett shaking controller was rattling like crazy He couldn't handle the ball pressure. Maria. Hey, why is that my boy? Why is that my boy? I mean he was in France man Everybody then you basically La Raffia at this point man like that was not You La Raff at this point, but no, I want to see I'm Is equally intrigued to see what his look is real look like is he ready to go year one or is he gonna be a year two? It's like I say he's good ball handler. He's a really good basketball put He could be the one that everybody is missing out on he could be the the guy that sneaks in and And has the Keaton Blogler type here because marille's he's he's good

All right, the Monty Stewart said not in DC just didn't change my youtube name Yeah, 845 is like somewhere like New York or something's 847. That's like the Schomburg area cult Man, I'm tired. I was just thinking 845. We talking about a kid at play for Illinois. I meant that thought you Representing the Chicago suburbs, but it's 847. All right twin in them You got to write this time, man, two ends and two amps salute fellas would you describe Coleman as a more Connective piece building block or does he have another level he could get to offensively Yeah, I think everybody has another level. I mean if he shows like more like shot making Then I think that's another level he can get to but like I said I just think that He has a skill set that You know should be able to translate the shooting The motor and then everything else is is a bonus if he's if he's the shooter they show the ybl But he also shows that he's a better playmaker than we have been given him credit for and he's got some

offensive creativity Then you really got something there Yeah, I think he's more of a connective piece right now But there is upside is being more than a connective piece. It's just the matter is you're gonna be able to tap into that Like I said, there's a good foundation of being a decent ball handler slash Playmaker for yourself, but as far as like making plays These were ball move than a come off a pick and roll with those skip pass throw a pocket pass kind of guy right now Yep, all right. Here's a question. What do you think about Billy Donovan coming to save Kentucky next year If he decides to come back to college. No, man. I got uh, I'm cool with some people at the University of Kentucky man We need him to keep these jobs man Hey Hey man shout out to the to the coaches staff man. I need them to keep their job, man They're actually good people. I'm rooting for the Kentucky guys Uh, Billy Donovan. I mean Where's the building? Donovan go You know Kentucky's good if man the pope is seat hot

But nah, man, say how they can touch you man like I'm cool with those people. I need them to keep their job Well to answer the question. I think that If Kentucky doesn't have a deep run and you know, they had some injuries last year They lost in the second round last year and their best player was uh Lenturian kid and Yeah, like He's a good college player, but he was and he's not like They haven't been able to recruit that NBA guy yet Now they had uh, they had uh Shibuya your favorite player from last year's dry class He was hurt though and then oh cleanness. Yeah, but I mean Jayden Claims was hurt. He played what? Ford gang two three gangs and then the point guard uh The kid from Houston at treasure He was hurt. I think you would have a shoulder injury

You're missing two starters of college basketball and you make it To the second round of the NCAA tournament. That's a pretty A pretty good season. It's just it's Kentucky. So the seat is hot The expectations are on another level and I think like man if your billy donovan's agent And Kentucky starts losing if they get blown out by Arkansas or something like that Man, the value is going up because you can imagine the Kentucky fans Will throw him I mean the bag is in the word. I mean Double bag a brink truck Whatever, man, we don't need that. I don't need me that to happen man I mean, I don't want it to happen. I don't want it to happen But you know, it's just the pressures on I mean and Kentucky fans don't care that the guys were injury Only thing they're gonna talk about is how much that payroll was and the fact that You know, they're not winning and they just got spoiled

During the Kalapari years where you were just getting These these huge names that were in you know top five and You know the rankings every year pumping them out, but they weren't winning. So Do you want one? Yeah, they won but Kyle had a rough stretch And the fans turned on them, but then Kyle was like Y'all not about to fire me About the dip Who big Sui And get the extension where I'm love All right, here's one Alex Wilkins or Coleman. I think I already know James answer Oh, yeah, man. Yeah, think about it. No, I don't think about it. I was I like Alex Wilkins I'm irrationally high on Alex Wilkins right now in September and like I said six five Potentially six six With the ball really good shooter

Offensive creativity definitely throwing us some weight, but at six six You know, I think Alex Wilkins is if I had a sleeper or when you look at other people's mocks and big boys like I'm higher on Alex Wilkins right now Yeah, definitely are All right, can you imagine Coleman playing with moosa comma soko next year a little more Is moosa gonna go there to Illinois? I like moosa lie. I think moosa is the one done guy Um, I think Moosa I don't know if moosa is a Illinois kind of guy though But he's not he's not a maybe his mouth about to say He's not Eastern European But you know Coleman uh, you know on vogue where wasn't either, but it's kind of like Yeah, they might have like seven Eastern European guys on the roster if if I'm moosa and I don't know at his top five is up top my head

I'm going to Yukon though I think he is really good at Yukon and he would get the handle of the ball more now He's not gonna be the guy that's coming off all those staggers shoot the threes, but he just seems like a Yukon standing northeast Kind of guy What about Nate Oves to Michigan? I believe he will leave Bama to go there even though we turned down you and see last year Man, that's another one man. Yeah, we want Mike boy in the key this is a pro Mike boy in pie cats, but But I'm really not a good go to Michigan if things don't you know work out because Mission get got money Um football team cheating. You got to think they're going cheat too, so They still inside they changing the clock man did you see that man? That was so bad. I didn't see it. I mean big guy coaches Cheating like Man, personal life whole life of cheating Michigan man. They have a history of she because that was taking getting money

The fat farmers getting money. I'm not mad at them for that, but you know cheating is cheating Uh, what's there another thing? I don't got to go to an hour anytime soon Nah for what it's probably cold as bricks up there Uh Illinois system is really really good. I agree But I think if you are a I just don't I don't like that for moose, man Moosa it did improve as a shooter, but he's like a playmaking wing to me and But at the same time like he's trying to score and I like I said I want to see him stay in the Northeast like if he was a Syracuse matter of fact is one of his top five schools now that I remember Stay in the Northeast man bring back the big east schools I don't know who's in the biggest anymore. Bring back like that love and certainty Crating is in the big east Oh, that was in the Missouri valley when I grew up not in the East, but I mean these conferences are crazy anyway Now I'm most of our North Carolina bring back the old school

basketball with some of the top guard the top wings or some players from New York Went to North Carolina Bring it back. No, man. Syracuse are you coming? Staying in Northeast. Get you an orange headband like mellow Like I think he's a Syracuse. Yeah, it's just saying the big east man. I really like man go ahead. You see Cucas isn't in the big east though Conference right in ACC ACC Man get goots on the phone man. Tell him to stay in the Northeast Keep him in the Northeast man All right, and you're opinion can it be three straight first round picks that Illinois well She'd be four because I mean you got to count three straight like one and done one and done guys Uh, yes, I think it's very possible. I think it actually will happen because The kids baseline is killed just too high like he's gonna rebound at a high level And then Illinois is gonna play like they're they have those bigs that space the floor which means you're gonna have driving lanes

And I'm gonna drive for the traffic I think Vox is gonna be a good play making wing I land like I said I'm really really really A big fan Lucas Moreo and hopefully he's able to crack that rotation But I do think when call me is going to make it four Straight slash three straight first round picks fail in noi which means Who is gonna go there next year If I was I mean, I think eight and digs gonna go to Arizona, but I go to Illinois five eight and digs Find and digs. I'm just standing Arizona Why? Because I'm standing Arizona. I'm not buying a coat to go play in the And then we open outside But I'm standing I'm standing Arizona Hey, I'm standing. I'm gonna I'm going to I'm going to two sides All right, Arizona Ron and uh, I think we lose

Go ahead answer now. Are you hot? Yeah, you should definitely because Rafa was definitely drinking the Avista cool a day Arcus are working to find a man. It's vine of mayor man Come on. I caught him do Potential I was the biggest vine of mayor. You V such fan ever and I still can't figure out why this dude Is not in the NBA He's got the athleticism. He's got the size He can shoot he can block shot. He's got touch around around like do the skill and then it didn't it didn't like You know help and I you know he followed my newsletter That a game his first game against like Georgia or yeah, like 11 points George Like six minutes My man skip 35 25 says no heart. Yeah, man. He's He's a tease Oh

Quoted the biggest tease and I get you when I played with your brother like we talked about like the mingles and then like you know I mean obviously I'm doing a podcast with my brother Hey, man, I'm not going to play with my brother to come off the bench Oh my back and you uh Yeah, and he was supposed to be the better of the two, but yeah, man. I was a big Evie such fan. I mean he's like he's that guy. Well, you you just look at how talented he is and you're like Dang like it's just the intangibles It's just the intangibles. All right. What was the questions? Uh, I think AJ Williams goes to Duke Henry goes BYU Oh, AJ Williams. Uh, we just with his agent last night Henry go. Oh You Henry yeah, I mean, I'm pretty sure they're going to be looking for that next guy that next top five guy I like it right Oh playing football

Uh, I think so man, I think Henry's going to Kentucky. I think that's the guy they're gonna end up getting I think I think he's gonna go to Kentucky AJ Williams going to Duke Oh Man is AJ Williams Is AJ Williams Harrison Barnes or is he demarder Rosen? That's he Harrison de Rosen. Yeah, either one of those guys is a long career. Don't get me wrong, but Is he AJ? I mean, is he is he Harrison Barnes or de Rosen? That's what I'm trying to figure out because even he wants to He wants the two dribble you to death Yeah, that's that's what kind of makes me think he's more of those guys Uh, Dylan Mingo goes to Texas year two and plays with spirit junior and gooseby No, that's not gonna happen because

Texas gonna beat down Texas if Texas doesn't leave with either Beckham black or Reese Austin Then what are we doing? I Some reason I just feel like Reese is gonna end up at LSU for some reason I I think they're gonna throw him a bag. Hey right now LSU. I don't even know if they got enough players on a team They may throw one of these high school kids of bag that come right now come get me out of home room I know like you know some of the top guys have been offered opportunities to to class up, but yeah man Go get me out of home room Give me out of there, but so could you imagine you sit well these kids don't go to no home room anyway, man I don't know where to get me out of the online class You take that notebook out of my hand in the study hall in the hotel when we're traveling

Is Mercavit your first round pick? He could be I was not High on him as an NBA guy. I just didn't I like I thought he was gonna be a really really good college player I thought he was gonna be one of those guys. I said college and And it's like becomes like a legend at the school He's good man. He's he's he's good not in a traditional sense of like You know like your high flyer, but he just he's just good man Let's see chantucky got RJ. What do you think they can play do I think RJ? Ryan Ryan I think they can play together I think Henry can guard like multiple positions now you're gonna need somebody who's gonna be like a flat out Knockdown shooter and table setter But I mean why not like can tucky's gonna play They run good stuff. They just haven't had like that star yet Uh Black to Arkansas Reese to Louisville

I Don't want back on the go to Arkansas man. I wouldn't be surprised if he did And then at the same time I don't want Reese to go to Louisville either because I feel like he's a he's an artist and Louisville runs a lot of system stuff I feel like just go put Reese in all the picking roles possible. Let him go be great Because he's TKR TKR's rumored to go to L.A. That's the old dude from Purdue, right? Oh He ordered a yaxle Man get out of here man. You get a job. Oh, hey, go man. Start that family be a family man Right why you think why are you hanging around campus with the 18 year old girl? I get I get you want to go get the money man, but come on man. Just It's over for you I say man like 24 should be the absolute max Why should older than that man come on man like I said man put all these old news and defray

And see if they can win like just have a whole old team and they don't go back to somebody else's school No man go start a school like Bishop sycamore or something like that see you can make me turn it Yeah, like these like these high school these prep schools just pop up. I don't know what is hey man I'm in a burst of you pop up you took my play. All right, man forget you man. I'm about to turn my own school Yeah, go start your own school, man No brown did look good in Louisville Oh, the money he did, but I think It was I mean, I just think Reese is a I think brown was gonna be fine regardless. This is what I'm trying to say like he could have he could have been a Top 10 picked top six pick V to win to Kansas state like he's that good But I just like I like Reese Austin a lot in picking roll and I know that you know Kell this is named Kelsey he runs a lot of like you know staggers for his shooters and

And really like you got to look at that situation because they got a lot of guys this year. That's gonna be interesting I have recruiting works because they You know, I guess when I outside looking in it seems like they over recruited every single spot Because they're two three deep and you know, I get it you want death, but man. I'm trying to play Yeah, I feel like Louisville Louisville. I don't know how you say it though. They smell somebody Little loveville, but just whatever. Yeah. It's yeah, so anyway, I think Kelsey is a guy that Like he may have the same issue that people criticize Pope for having like he's a mid major guy He wants to run a mid major system, but because he's at Where he's at you got to recruit these high high level guys And sometimes I mean it worked out for my kill brown obviously But even then I just felt like and I had this conversation with my kills dad at the U19 last year I was like once they signed my kill I would have thought they would have been done recruiting

But they still kept recruiting and I get it Kelsey's job is he wants to win a national championship and And Louisville has money and they want to put together a deep roster that can go 9 10 deep but I just think this I don't know how they're gonna balance that out between you wanted deep roster But you want these guys that want to get in and out I would get old guys as I want a deep roster Yeah, you'll get me all the 22 and 23 rows and I wouldn't recruit freshmen unless it was like a big But yeah guards My man they trying to get in and get out Cowboys black Kamagate Henry's AJ Williams man if I'm y'all in Kamagate I'm a package deal with Beckham black Wherever he goes I go I don't even need to visit the campus. No No Pyro technique or Reese or Reese Yeah, but Now I'm going back. I think I'm going to give me open looks

Because I mean yes Kamagate is crazy talented and I think there's more to him than being like a Play finisher But I want that six to eight points of right place right time Live and then if I can get eight off of that and I can get four free throws made a game. That's that's 12 um You know running transitions Yeah, man. I want to get to late 18-a-game playing with Beckham black Yeah, I I agree with you. I'm playing with Beckham um Yeah Anything else right?
