Ireland's Crime Rates Drop in 2025

0:00On March 26, Ireland's latest crime figures from the Central Statistics Office show a big drop in serious offenses for 2025 compared to the year before. Homicide and related crimes fell 25% overall, mostly because dangerous driving deaths dropped 46% even though murders stayed at 35 and manslaughter at 5. Kinnevin cases went down 21%, robberies 11%, and burglaries 13% to 8,469, reports. Thief from shops, cars, and people dipped 3% to over 73,000 incidents while reported sex crimes overall decreased, 9% percent. Drugs possession and dealing saw slight upticks, drink driving rose 1% to over 6,670 cases, and weapons offenses. Increased 6% though shootings fell. Over 4 years, 10 out of 15 crime types declined across all regions, with fewer victims overall, but theft climbed 11% in weapons, 19%.
