Ireland Keeps Funding Blister Packs & Phased Dispensing

This came after major backlash from politicians, patients, and pharmacists forced the delay on plans to cut state funding starting this January. Blister packs pop out daily doses to cut errors on high-risk meds, while phased dispensing lets folks grab just a week supply instead of a full month. Medical card and GP visit card holders, getting these free in August 2025, will keep that support without charge. Pharmacists can now assess GMS patients and provide free services when safety demands it, with a new 32-year-olds 50-sense monthly payment, kicking in June 2026 for others who qualify, but artfully covered. The Irish Pharmacy Union and Health Minister are praising this for empowering pharmacists to protect vulnerable folks better.
