Governor Gavin Newsom broadly supports LA Mayor Karen Bass is bid for a second term. I don't even know what that means. As opposed to just, I support her. I broadly support her. Okay, fair enough. And just a whole bunch more prices. Gas prices jumped 11 cents yesterday across the country. Also, very quickly on Friday, day after tomorrow, it's asked Handel anything, where you ask if you have any questions, or if you have any questions, or if you have any questions, or if you have any questions, or if you have any questions, where you ask, handel anything, it's all about embarrassing me, and you go to during the show, You go to the IHART radio app, and it's, it's... we're broadcasting or we're

Okay. The latest and there's a lot going on. The latest in the mid east. Okay. The Iranians are trying to figure out who is going to be the Grand Puba and dealing with the attack. So President Trump yesterday acknowledged the possibility that Iran's next ruler could be as bad as the itola humanee. And it looks like he will be because his son Mojtabag humanee, humanee, humanee, hardliner is probably going to become the next Puba and it's nothing's going to change. There were some talk. The other two, by the way, on this try try to ump for it, we're actually fairly moderate considering it's Iran. But it looks

5:10that the Supreme Leader's son is going to go ahead and become become the guy. And the Israelis, the defense minister said that if that is who is going to happen, he is going to become an unequivocal target for elimination like those words. All right. So the bombing continues on command centers, police station detention centers, intelligence offices, and Iran are continuing to be bombed. Stocks in Asia stock, the market fell precipitously. The other thing, which yesterday I shared this, as a matter of fact, I've been saying this for a few days, is why Iran is attacking its neighbors in the Gulf. Fighting goes on across the region, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, all announced new Iranian attacks on them yesterday actually today. It happened early this morning. Remember we're 10 hours. They're 10 hours ahead of us.

6:15The U.S. Central Command is conducting 24 seven strikes into Iran and is being described from the seabed to space to cyberspace. And in Lebanon, Israel is ramping up its fight against Hezbollah, the lunatics that have decided they're going to join the fight, even though Lebanon or Hezbollah and Lebanon was had nothing to do with this. It was against Iran. So, of course, they start launching missiles and now Israel goes after them. Israeli military issued a warning to those people in South Lebanon, get the hell out. What else is going on? Funeral rights for the grand vizier there, homani is being postponed, although you're going to see millions of people out there who are going to be going to his funeral and they will be demonstrating. The big issue also is evacuation of the hundreds of thousands of foreigners in these major

7:17capitals, major cities across the region. The U.S. State Department is now facilitating charter flights. And this was a real tough one because the Trump administration had no plans, didn't have contingency plans to evacuate Americans from all of these gold states. And they were caught flat footed and you got one reason going one way. You got Donald Trump saying something Marco Rubio saying something and they're just just absolutely bouncing around. I mean, this is not being handled well. This is the aftermath. Day two is not good at all. The attacks are brilliant. That's one military does brilliantly our military. But the problem is, what happens after that? That's where we're not very good at. We're not good at all. So that's up in the air. The president said that the United States might deploy the Navy to escort commercial ships through the strait of Hormuz. The, it just goes on the death toll in Iran, the Red Crescent Society,

8:18their Red Cross said the death toll is 787. Also, this didn't get a lot of traction. I don't understand why. The bombing of a girls elementary school in Iran is being reported killed at least 175 people, mainly girls, school girls. And you would think the killing of those many people with a direct hit, those many youngsters with a direct hit on the, on the school would be huge news with huge reaction. I'm kind of surprised that did not happen. And I hear in the United States, Fed Reserve officer told the New York Times, higher energy prices could translate to a more persistent inflation problem. How is it that it could persist? How is it that higher prices don't specifically translate to inflation? And then I want to end with this one. And then I'm going to go on with California politics a little bit. And that is Turkey's defense ministry announced that a ballistic missile fired

9:23from Iran had been shot down by NATO air defenses heading towards Turkey, heading towards Turkish airspace. Now this one I, I can't believe that Iran is this nuts. I think it's pretty nuts. I mean, it's, I've talked about this before and I will again, as to why Iran is in this position, and why these hardliners, I think, are kind of nuts. But this one is particularly crazy. Why is that? Because an attack on Turkey means it's an attack on a NATO country, which means under article five of the NATO charter, every single one of those NATO countries, 27 of them would be at war with Iran. And now Iran is at war with basically the entire world, the entire western world. And if they think Putin is going to jump in and defend, or maybe China is going to jump in defend, it ain't got to happen. I mean, I just, I don't get it. I don't get it. I don't, in many

10:29cases. And it's really important of them to develop those ballistic missiles. And it's really important for them to develop that nuclear program. Although I will say, and one of the other controversies is the argument is that there was no eminent fear of attack. There was no eminent attack. I agree. Iran was not eminently within days or weeks of having a bomb and using it. I don't think so. But long term, I mean, they already had the 3000 missiles is what's being counted and reported on. So do you wait until they have 10,000 missiles? Do you wait until they actually do develop a bomb? So let's say it's a year from now. When you cut off the head of the snake, do you wait? And that's why I think there was a lot of justification here. My call on this. Okay. California politics are fascinating. A couple of things about California politics, state politics. Interesting thing. Number one, if you're a Republican, particularly, right? Democrats outnumber Republicans registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by about two to one. Republicans

11:31don't have a much of an easy shot at getting elected in this state. The Democratic party has a super majority, both the Senate and the assembly. They can override any veto and they have a Democratic governor, which means that, well, basically anything that the governor and or the legislature wants happens. So that's one. The other issue is that California runs the top two winners in the primary and the gubernatorial primary. And it doesn't matter what party they are. So if you have two Democrats that are in the top two, you have a Democrat running against the Democrat. Now usually when it comes to primaries, you think of a Republican versus a Democrat running and then you elect one or the other, not in California. It's the top two no matter what. Why is that so important? I mean, come on, it doesn't matter. Democrats going to be elected. Yeah, hang on

12:37a minute. The state Democratic party chair Rusty Hicks wrote a letter, an open letter. And he said that the Democratic candidates who are the lowest in the polls, the opinion polls should drop out of the race. And he said, even though the odds are relatively low, California cannot risk a Republican being elected as the next governor at a time when president Trump is in the White House. And why hang on a minute, does that make any sense? I Democrat, of course, is going to be elected. Republicans are out number two to one. Well, with the two party with the two top candidates rule getting, there are nine Democrats that are running only nine. And the fear is they are going to split the vote, cannibalize each other in such a way as that the two top candidates may be Republicans because there are so few

13:45Republicans running. And now here comes the argument of racism. I even love this one. Uh, so, uh, uh, Thurman, okay, Tony Thurman, who is, uh, Black and Latino, uh, he states, uh, superintendent of public instruction. He posted a video accusing the party of urging every person of color to drop out of the race. All you care about is white people. Uh, well, actually what we care about are the polls. If you look at the polls, it shows that you, who happens to be black and a Latino or black, uh, you're not getting the support, uh, in terms of the electorate, we want you to drop out. No, no, you want me to drop out because I'm black. Bernie Sanders was right. Our political system is rigged, corrupted by the political elites, the wealthy and the well-connected. He sounds like Donald Trump. The California Democratic party is essentially telling every person of color in the race for governor to drop out. And he said the party favored three flawed white candidates, billionaire Tom Steyer,

14:52representative electric, uh, Eric Stahlwell, and former representative Katie Porter. Now, I find that fascinating because it is everything racial, is that where we're at? Because let's say you happen to be part of a group, uh, and you are arrested, let's say, uh, let's say you're in South Central, which is, uh, primarily black and you get arrested. You didn't get arrested because, uh, you may be a criminal or the accusation is real. You've got arrested because you're black. If you're polling less than 2% of the vote and the state party chair says, Hey, stay the hell out of the race because you're so low in the polling. Oh no, it's not because of that. It's because I am black. That's how crazy it has. Is there anything that doesn't touch, uh, an argument or an accusation of racism anymore? It does not. So you've got, uh, two nine Democrats running and you've got two Republicans running.

15:59And is the splintering going to happen to such an extent that Republicans are going to be at the top of, uh, the market there. Wow. Really, really, uh, crazy stuff. And the five candidates is the public policy institute poll, uh, find that the five candidates who lead the contest, uh, have, um, well, each of them, I have more than 5% of the vote. The other ones have, uh, the other four, uh, each of them have less than 5%. But if you have four, uh, each of them having, let's say, four percent, that's 16% of the vote. You think that's enough to really affect a primary election? You bet it is. Okay. Now, um, the elections are coming up November as you know, big time. And here is, uh, the argument that's being made, uh, since, uh, the elections are rigged, as a matter of course, because, uh, to certainly mega followers and the president, if a Democrat wins an election,

17:02it is rigged. The only free election in this country is if a Republican wins. Uh, that is, our democracy. Okay. With that in mind, uh, here is, uh, the myth that's going around. And that is that the president will declare a national emergency based on the fact that we have no democracy and the elections are rigged. And we'll eliminate the elections in November. We'll simply say, we, that's democracy demands that we have an election that is not rigged. And therefore, I am declaring him an emergency. This is Donald Trump saying that and election, the election will be either eliminated or postponed. And of course, the president remains a president. Well, that is a myth. Now, as much as the president is interfering or wants to interfere, that's not the avenue he's going to take. Uh, that's not the way it works at all. Uh, what he wants to do is simply ban mail ballots, uh, ban voting machines, uh, because of

18:04foreign intervention, uh, and demand ID, uh, for voting to prove you're an American citizen. Now, a lot of us think that, uh, you know, demanding ID, I mean, it says only citizens can vote. That's the law. Then what is wrong with, uh, saying, okay, you've got to prove it. So here is what the other side says that demanding ID disenfranchises people because a lot of really poor people don't have ID. Uh, but then the argument also reads, uh, that by law, they should be transported to polling booths because they can't get there. Uh, it's, uh, you know, it's a dumb argument, I think, that somehow does away with, um, uh, the mail in ballot and the votes. And even though the president says, uh, that, uh, he has the right to go in and, uh, the institute changes, he doesn't. The constitution is very, very clear, which says the states control the manner and the place

19:06and the time that elections will be held. It's right there. The federal government does not have the power to do that. Now it's a stretch to say, uh, that the very nature of elections are fraudulent. And the president, therefore, can declare an emergency and undo, uh, the voting itself. That is going to be a stretch. And where, where the court's going to go with that one, huh? Uh, and he, the guy who, uh, was part of, um, the, uh, the lawsuits, uh, on behalf of Donald Trump to undo all this, uh, a guy, uh, by, uh, the name of Peter Tickton. He's a Florida lawyer. And what he is advocating is this draft executive order that's going around, uh, and, uh, the, that he is part of the pro Trump activists to say they're in coordination with the White House on the 17 page draft executive order that claims China interfered in the 2020 election.

20:11That's the basis to declare a national emergency because of a foreign power interfering in our election. Therefore, the president has the right to come in and change it. By the way, I don't know how China interfering or not undoes what the constitution says in terms of the state's controlling it. I have yet to figure that one out. Uh, but, uh, here is, uh, the, well, here's exactly the argument and this from Tickton. Here we have a situation where the president is aware there are foreign interests that are interfering in our election process. And that causes a national emergency where the president has been able to deal with. Now, uh, there is evidence that China considered influencing the election, uh, but didn't go through with them and keep in mind in the 2016 election where he won where, uh, there was more than just an argument that Russia was interfering with the election. The president said that that is a hoax because Putin was in favor

21:15of Donald Trump. And therefore, again, anybody in favor is a friend. Anybody against is an enemy. So there is, uh, the president coming in and interfering with the election, seeking executive power over the elections by declaring an emergency that a foreign power is interfering. Therefore, he has the right to override the constitution override article one straight out. Where do you think the courts are going to go on this one? Huh? I mean, this is Hotspa with a capital CH. Uh, that's, it's astounding. It's weird times, weird times. Uh, okay. Uh, and, and Padilla, Alex Padilla, our, uh, Senator is preparing for the president to declare a national emergency. And, uh, now can you imagine the state Senator saying, let's prepare for this to undo

22:15the state election power. Uh, it's crazy stuff. Okay. Good news. Why you can no longer afford auto insurance. Okay. Auto insurance here in California. Boy, are we lucky? Uh, rate increases exceeding 30% since 2022. Why? Well, it's a perfect storm. And let me put, uh, the reasons, uh, well, there's several reasons. Uh, when have them, the price, uh, the cars are heavier. Okay. And they do more damage. Uh, the prices of, uh, parts are way more. Uh, you've got EVs, which are more expensive to fix. Uh, if a battery goes south or is, uh, is somehow damaged, the cost of a battery in an EV is, uh, let's say astronomical. Uh, you also have the tariffs that make cars more expensive. And it just keeps on going. Oh, the other thing is, uh, it's the insurance commissioner here in California, who either OKs or denies rate increases,

23:18matter of fact, a couple times like state farm had a rate decrease during the pandemic, uh, because they were selling, you were still paying insurance and you weren't driving. And so we actually got a rate decrease. How is that for a miracle? So you have an insurance commissioner who is elected. Uh, that's a very few states do that. And so the, uh, the insurance commissioner, uh, sort of has a duty or has a responsibility, uh, to the electorate, which means, uh, that, uh, since he in this case has to be elected, uh, you're not going to see him jumping on rate increases. It just isn't a good thing. So it's very difficult to get a rate in a rate increase in California. And it builds and it builds and it builds. And finally the balloon pops and there is no choice because insurance companies are saying, okay, we're leaving the state. We can't make any money. We're out the door. And oh, well, oh, wait a minute. What's going to keep you here? Uh,

24:21how about you getting the rates or part of the rates, uh, that you want, uh, so you can stay here. That is the other problem. Uh, what was it? Uh, last year, uh, average of six percent up, the top 10 insurers, uh, in 2024, that was a 15% hike. Now this is cumulative. This is year to year. So let's start in 2023, 13% jump, uh, 2024, 15% jump, uh, last year, only six percent jump, uh, but add all that together. And that means the California driver, uh, paid the state's average premium of, uh, $1,800 or $1,000 in 2022 is going to be paying hundreds, uh, dollars more today. Yep. There we go. Also the new safety features, uh, that help reduce collisions. And the other thing about cars, do you remember there was a law that was passed that say that, uh, a bumper had to, um, somehow, uh, maintain, uh, the ability to, uh, keep it shape and not be repaired, uh,

25:24with a collision of five miles an hour or less. That used to be the law that it literally had to sustain, be able to sustain a five mile an hour collision and not be damaged at all. Today, a five mile per hour collision, your bumper is going to cost $48,000 to replace. Now, is that, uh, hyperbole maybe, but not very much. Have you done a car repair lately? It's thousands of dollars. Cars are just that more expensive. And, uh, that's why proposition 103 passed by the in 1988 because the premiums were skyrocketing. So there we, therefore we elected an insurance commissioner who has the authority to reduce or deny insurance requests. And what ends up happening is the insurance, uh, the, the, uh, the insurance commissioner, uh, makes the decision. I mean,

26:29he has, uh, he has the pencil. And if an insurance company selling millions, uh, hundreds of millions of dollars in California insurance, maybe billions have to go to the insurance commission and go, please, please, I'll like all of her twists. Okay. Can I have seconds, please? It's, uh, excuse me, sir, man, I have some more. Uh, yeah, there's that too. Yeah. Okay. I, you got the point. Don't correct me. Okay. The day after today, the day after notes tomorrow, yeah, that's Annie. Uh, no, well, but a day that there are seconds, it isn't seconds all of her twist. Do I have that right? No, it's a, can I have some more? No, I understand that. But, uh, where did it come from? Okay. I am the ghost of Christmas further on. Yeah, that didn't happen either. No, no, I, I don't think so.
