Iowa State's Jefferson Injury: March Madness Hurdle

Star 4 Joshua Jefferson went down with an apparent ankle injury just minutes into the game while attempting a layup. He twisted his left foot on landing and couldn't put any weight on it, so trainers helped him straight to the locker room. Jefferson never made it back onto the court during the first half. For the cyclones, this is a huge setback as they chased their first final four spots since 1944. Jefferson has been a standout all season, putting up 16.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 5 assists per game, including two, triple doubles. Later in the first half, around the 11-minute mark, cameras caught him on crutches heading into a back room at the arena. Officials haven't shared details on the injury's severity yet. Iowa State will need to push forward without him if the injury sidelines their key player for good, testing their depth early in the big dance.
