Hello, and welcome to the Truth Will Not Be Silence. The show that allows you to be seen, to be heard, and to be human. I'm your host, Melissa Woodford White. Our story allows us to encourage, inspire, motivate, uplift, and help people. There will be a special surprise at the end of the show, be sure to listen all the way through for the details. In today's special episode, we will continue to talk about money made human. In this episode, we're stepping into a topic that can feel intimidating, confusing, or even off limits for many people, investing. For a lot of us, investing feels like something other people do. People with more money, people with more knowledge, people with more confidence,

confidence, people with more access. But here's the truth. Investing isn't for the wealthy. Investing is how people become wealthy. And wealth doesn't mean extravagance. Wealth means options. Wealth means stability. Wealth means breathing room. Wealth means dignity. Today, we're going to break down some investing. We're going to break down investing in a way that feels human, simple, and empowering, without jargon, without shame, and without pressure. Take a deep breath. You are in the right place. The emotional barriers to investing. Before we talk strategy, we need to talk about emotion. Because investing is emotionally long before it's mathematical. People avoid investing because

they feel fear of losing money, fear of making a mistake, fear of not knowing enough, fear of starting too late, fear of looking foolishness, fear of repeating past financial trauma. And those fears make sense. If you grew up in survival mode, investing can feel unsafe. If you've experienced financial instability, risk can feel threatening. If you've been taught about, if you've never been taught about investing, it can feel like a foreign language. But here's the reframe. Investing is not gambling. It's planning. Investing is not guessing. It's growing. Investing is not a test. It's a tool. You don't need to be fearless to invest. You just need to be willing. What investing actually is? Let's strip away the complexity. Investing is simple. Putting your

money somewhere it can grow over time. That's it. You're not trying to beat the market. You're not trying to get rich quick. You're not trying to predict the future. You're letting time, consistency, and compounding do the heavy lifting. Compounding is the quiet miracle of investing. Your money earns money. And then that money earns money. And the cycle continues. Investing is slow, steady, and powerful. The three layer investment blueprint. To make investing simple and sustainable, we're using a three layer blueprint. Layer one foundation. This is your safety layer. It includes your emergency fund, your retirement accounts for 01K, Ira, Roth Ira, basic insurance, stable savings. This layer protects you from setbacks.

Layer two growth. This is where your wealth builds. It includes index funds, EFTs, diversified portfolios, long-term stock market investing. This layer grows your money steadily over time. Layer three future. This is your long-term vision layer. It includes real estate, advanced investing, business investments, long-term wealth strategies. This layer expands your possibilities. You don't need to master all three levels at once. You start where you are. You build gradually. You grow with confidence. Breaking down investment types. Let's simplify the most common investment options. Stocks. You own a small piece of the company, higher risk, higher reward. Bonds. You lend money to a company or government, lower risk,

lower reward. Index EFTs. Index funds and EFTs. You invest in a group of companies at once. This is the simplest, safest long-term strategy for most people. Retirement accounts 401k, IRA, Roth IRA. These accounts give you tax benefits and long-term growth. You don't need to pick individual stocks. You don't need to time the market. You don't need to be an expert. You need a plan and consistency. The risk comfort check-in. Risk tolerance is emotional, not mathematical. Ask yourself. How do you feel when the market goes up and down? Do I prefer slow, steady growth or faster, more volatile growth? What's my timeline? What level of uncertainty feels manageable?

Your comfort matters. Your peace matters. Your timeline matters. Investing should support your life. Not stress you out. Got it reflection. Your investing identity. If you're able, close your eyes. Take a slow, deep breath in. And a slow breath out. Now imagine yourself five years from now. You've been investing consistently. You've stayed patient. You've stayed committed. What does that version of you feel like?

What does your life look like? What opportunities have opened up? What stress has disappeared? What confidence has grown? This is your investing identity. The version of you who builds wealth with clarity and calm. Let that vision guide your next step. Here's our activity. Your first investment step. Grab your notebook or your phone. If you don't have, if you're on your phone, grab your notebook. If you're not on your phone, grab your notebook, grab your phone. Write this down.

One, one account I will open or review is, will that be your 401k, your IRA, your Roth IRA, or your brokerage account? Write that down. Two, one amount I can invest consistently is, even if it's $10 it counts. Write down the one amount that you can invest consistently. Three, one habit I will build is, automating contributions, checking monthly, learning weekly. Four, one belief about investing I'm ready to release is, I'm behind, I don't know enough, it's too risky. This is your starting point, your foundation. Encourage it for your journey. Investing is not about timing the market. It's about time in the

market. It's not about perfection. It's about consistency. It's not about being fearless. It's about being willing. You don't need to be wealthy to start. You become wealthy by starting. And you're starting from a place of clarity, compassion, and confidence. Invest in money wisely, growing wealth with confidence. I want to share a story with you about Serena. When Serena was a child, her grandmother kept a small garden behind the house. Nothing fancy, just a few rows of tomatoes, herbs, and flowers that seem to bloom no matter how hot the summer sky. Serena loved watching her grandmother tend to it. Every morning she'd see her kneeling in the dirt, humming softly, watering the soul with a chipped metal can. One day Serena asked,

grandma, do you make everything, bro? Her grandmother smiled and said, oh honey, I don't make anything, bro. I just give it what it needs and time does the rest. At that time, Serena didn't understand. She thought gardening was magic. Something only patient wise people could do. She didn't know that years later that simple lesson would become the key to understanding something she wants feared investing. The adult years. Fast forward 25 years. Serena is now in her 30s working a job she enjoys paying her bills on time and doing her best to save. But investing, that felt like a foreign language. She'd hear co-workers talk about index funds, compound growth, and market dips, and she'd not politely while feeling completely lost. Whenever she tried to learn, she'd end up overwhelmed by charts, jargon, and conflicting advice. She told herself, I'm just not an investing

person. I'll start when I make more money. What if I mess it up? But deep down, she knew the truth. She wasn't afraid of investing. She was afraid of doing it wrong. She was afraid of losing money. She was afraid of looking foolish. She was afraid of stepping into something no one had ever taught her. And so she stayed on the sidelines, watching her savings grow slowly, watching others build wealth, watching time pass. The moment everything shifted. On Saturday morning, Serena visited her grandmother now in her 80s. The garden was still there, smaller now, but still a lot. They sat together on the porch, sipping tea when her grandmother said, you know, the garden taught me everything I needed to know about money. Serena laughed about money. How? Her grandmother pointed to it to made a plant. See that one? I planted it months ago. I didn't dig it up every week to check if

it was growing. I didn't panic when it rained too much or too little. I didn't compare it to the neighbor's garden. I just planted it, watered it, and trusted the process. Serena felt something shift inside of her. Her grandmother continued, investing is the same. You plant seeds, you give them time, you let them grow. It was the first time investing didn't feel intimidating. It felt natural, human, possible. The first step. That night, Serena opened her laptop and searched for for beginner friendly investing options. She didn't try to learn everything at once. She didn't try to become an expert overnight. She didn't try to time the market. She just took one small step. She opened a simple investment account. She chose a low-cost index fund, something steady, something broad, something she didn't have to babysit. She set up an automatic contribution

of $50 a month. It wasn't much, much, but it was a seed. For the first time, she felt proud, not because she understood everything, but because she had started the growth. Months passed. Serena didn't check her account every day. She didn't panic when the market dipped. She didn't compare her progress to anyone else's. She remembered her grandmother's words. Give it what it needs and time does the rest. Slowly, she increased her contributions. She learned about diversification. She added a retirement account. She built a small emergency fund so she wouldn't have to pull money out of her investments. One day, she logged in and saw something she hadn't expected. Her money had grown, not because she'd done anything dramatic, but because she'd been consistent. She realized investing wasn't about being brilliant. It wasn't about predicting the future.

It wasn't about time in the market. It was about planting seeds and letting time work its magic. The breakthrough moment. A year later, Serena sat at her grandmother's porch again. This time, she was the one pointing to the garden. You were right, she said. Investing really is like this. Her grandmother smiled. I knew you figured it out. You've always been a gardener. You just didn't know it yet. Serena felt a wave of confidence wash over her. She wasn't afraid anymore. She wasn't confused. She wasn't overwhelmed. She was growing wealth slowly, steadily, intentionally. And for the first time in her life, she felt like her future was expanding instead of shrinking. The message. In Serena's story, the emotions are real. The fear of starting, the confusion, the overwhelm, the belief that investing is for other people, but here's the truth.

You don't need to be wealthy to invest. You don't need to be an expert. You don't need to know everything. You just need to plant the first seed. Investing is not about perfection. It's about consistency. It's about patience. It's about trusting the process. And mostly, and most importantly, it's about building a future where your money grows with you, quietly, steadily, confidently. That's what we've stepped into in this episode. You are capable of building wealth. You are worthy of financial stability. You are ready to invest in your future.
