The FootballMartin Podcast — 🚨INSTANT REACTION Southampton 3 -1 Swansea. Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
Full time, instant reaction here on the channel finishes up at some Mary Stadium Southampton Threese, one the city Neil and that was a brilliant brilliant performance from Saints, played some great stuff. There's loads of good positives tonight. Saints would have been top of the championship without that minus four as well, that's unbelievable isn't it? But some really really good performances all over the pitch tonight, I'll break it down in a little bit more detail in another video, but just instant reaction now and what a good performance it was. There's a little bit of a spout just after half time where Saints won quite at it, but started the game well and early goal as well. Finners as went close really early in the game, put it over and then minutes later put it in the back of the net. It was lovely played from Nathan Wood, he played a brilliant pass, I thought he was really good at the back tonight, but we're talking about those partnerships shortly, but a superb pass, it was a good team goal as well. And then the second one was good as well, Darren, a handful all night, he calls Swansea all sorts of problems. It was in one of his better games they looked like a different player to the one that we saw away from home in
midweek. And no, sadder he's sorry and I thought yeah he took his goal well, left foot, ball comes across from James Bre, there's a brilliant bit of player, another good team goal, all the goals are good team goals and there's some good build up play, the third one was the best really. Saints are not long before it scored that goal actually, had had a really good chance, he ran the link to the pitch pretty much and nearly scored, he was outstanding tonight, Leo. Swansea got back in in through a penalty and there was a bit novy for a period of time actually, James Bre pulled down with Potnick for a penalty, Swansea hit really threatened loads in the second half, they played some nice football at times, but didn't have any, have any rule, sort of the final ball wasn't quite there for them, but they're a good side, they're a good side, they only considered one before tonight as well, so for Saints to go and put three past them, just shows what a good side Saints are and a lot of people panicking about Saints and over the last couple of away games, they're too tough away games on the bounce and Saints tonight were super
partnerships all over the pitch, I've got to say the two centre backs are really really good, he needs to stick with that partnership because they were excellent, would really really come into his own now, I don't want to be seeing him getting dropped anytime soon, a lot of people are a bit critical about him, I thought his performance tonight was brilliant, shot a back is just, is excellent, what a brilliant bit of business by Johannes Boerl to bring him into the football club, I thought he was great tonight and it's good on the ball, he's aggressive and he can pass and he's a really good replacement for Taylor Harbour Bear, so we were told that he was the replacement for Josh Quasie, well wow, he, that partnership, I think Abbott's going to struggle to get a look in at the moment with those two playing like they're playing, Liverpool, I've got a call out James Will Proud's performance as being nothing short of brilliant, somebody said to him on the channel the other day, I worship him, putting in performances like that by my lord, James Will Proud's was superb tonight, brilliant, him and Flynn Downs, they're building a lovely partnership, Flynn Downs
come back, Alfie Houth said, from what Eckett said as the fittest player in preseason and I'd said that a lot, I thought he looked like he worked really hard over the summer, he's brilliant, him and Proud's the building, a really, really good partnership together in midfield and they work so hard to cover each other, James is saying that he's not played that much football in recent years, he's so fit, he covers so much ground, he breaks up play, he does a lot of the simple things, so well but he just kept getting, he dropped in, he was a good shield for the back for tonight, was really, really impressed with him, he ends up, I love him, I love him, it's nice link up actually between James Will Proud and him as well, they've got a good understanding, the Proud's he's linking up with everyone, really, really well there's some good, there's just link ups all over the pitch, that's what I really enjoyed tonight, but some good team goals, if you've not seen the, if you're not seeing them back, go watch them and the third one's just a pick of the bunch, it was excellent, I also think the Eckert learned a little bit from his substitutions in midweek as well, or Saturday I said midweek again, he's learnt from his substitutions, he didn't make him too
early, he left his best players on the pitch and when they're playing well, laryn, cn's leave them on, fellows, try and get a bit more out of them, when they're at the best and they're in full flow, let him play, let him play and that's what he did tonight, cn's would have been off in previous games, he wouldn't have been on to score that goal because he would have been taken off, and the same with laryn, he's been coming off so early in games, so I think all round that's a really good results and that really good performance and loads of positives as we go into Saturday's game, it's a big game against Bristol City, but St. Schumpfier playing anyone, I said that on the preview show, we shouldn't fear playing anyone because when we're at it and we move the ball with intensity and pace, we're a really good side, we're getting a bit fitter, we're looking a bit sharper, shot a bit, he looked like a different bloke to the one we see on his debut, looks like he's leaned up a bit, you know, just lost a bit of weight, it's just a bit sharper, bits more snappier, they all look a bit more snappier, so I think there's a lot of encouraging signs as I walk away from St. Mary tonight, I really enjoyed that performance, I really, really enjoyed it,
give me all your reaction down there in the comments box below, give me all your thoughts and all your opinions on tonight's victory, who stood out for you, I will put a link for the player ratings very shortly across my social media, so stay tuned for that, but I'm struggling to pull out my own mansion there to not have thought as that at times, the way he drops in and plays past is out, why, yes he makes your past, it doesn't quite come off, but what a player he is, I thought he was good tonight, there'd be high ratings in the player ratings, which we will cover tomorrow on the channel, so stay tuned for that, but you can get voting as soon as I get that link out across my social media, but there you go, that's my instant reaction as I head back to home, I'm going to try and get a bus back to the other white now, so that is my instant reaction, stay tuned to the channel for some more fan reactions, well my dad would be on with a few bits and we'll get some bits as we travel back home, but give us all your thoughts, all your opinions down there in the comments box.
