On April 8th, a 17-year-old girl named Tanisha Melbourne, Blake got shot and killed in Tottenham, North London, back on April 2nd, 20. 18. It happened on Chow Grove Road around 9pm on Easter Monday. Marcus LaCoy, a 38-year-old from Hackney, is on trial at the Old Bailey right now, charged with her murder and having a firearm with. Intent to endanger life. She had zero ties to crime, just hanging with friends that bank holiday, playing games like Penny Up and Dancing by a Garden Wall. Then, as Tanisha walked up the road with her boyfriend, a car pulled up close, a window dropped, and shots rang out from inside. Her boyfriend saw a hand holding something, then three bright sparks and pops like fireworks. The car sped off quick, and he grabbed her phone to call an ambulance and family. Friends ran for help, neighbors rushed over, but paramedics found her barely breathing with massive internal bleeding. The bullet tore through her abdomen, causing unstoppable blood loss, and docs pronounced her dead at 10.43pm.

Prosecutors stressed she was totally innocent, caught in the wrong place. LaCoy says he's not guilty on both counts, and the self-loading pistol used is key evidence. As the trial rolls on, it's a stark reminder of street violence hitting the innocent hardest.
