Indiana Pro Day: Colts' Local Talent Shines

Standouts included defensive tackle Cole Brevard from Carmel Greyhounds, now out of Texas after stints at Penn State and Purdue, offensive lineman. Justin Pickett from Duke and defensive lineman Caden Curry from Ohio State. Projected early picks like White receiver Omar Cooper Jr. from Indiana University and Safety, Dylan Thiamen from Purdue and Oregon skipped. Enfield drills but still showed up. These guys go way back battling it out in high school practices. Brevard remembers every snap against Pickett as a straight up war along the line. Pickett, a four-year starter and two-time captain at Duke, started mostly at guard but flexed to tackle in a bowl game. Curry, another Carmo alum, calls himself just a football player at heart, loving the game since he was a kid. Players lit up talking about performing for their hometown squad.

Brevard chuckled at the memories but stayed humble, owning his role as a nose tackle in a three-four defense who eats blocks to free linebackers. Brevard bolted up smart last year at Texas, dropping body fat to 21% while holding 345 pounds, finishing with 18 tackles. He knows run-stuffing a flashy but crucial. Even in past happy offenses, teams need that anchor. Curry and Pickett pushed their multi-position skills to stand out. With the NFL draft kicking off April 23rd, these local's eye spots on the Colts roster amid a deep Indian talent pool.
