ILPS3e2 – Inventor Scams; How One Inventor Fought Back After Getting Scammed by World Patent Marketing

About this episode

With assurances that she would soon be earning millions, Crystal Carlson of Coolidge paid more than $36,000 to patent and market her infant car seat technology. Other inventors paid more — in some cases, 10 times more. But the company was only selling a dream, and did little or nothing for its clients. Rather than shrug and go away like so many others before her, Carlson fought back. Largely thanks to her efforts to rally other inventors and demand justice, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) went to court to freeze the company’s assets earlier this year pending a lawsuit. Crystal Carlson discusses her story and how she was able to rally the other inventors to demand justice.
