It's March 27, Dallas news today starts now, AI powered and ready. I'm Corey with the story. Ikea is now offering cash refunds for millions of dressers and chests recalled back in 2016 due to tip over risks. The company e-mail subscribers this week urging owners to check their furniture against updated recall images and return eligible pieces to any store for payment. To see if yours qualifies, look for a date stamp under the top panel or on a side panel inside. If the number is lower than 1622, it's part of the recall. Ikea stopped selling most of these models after 2016 or redesigned them for safety. These incidents have led to serious consequences with over 186 tip over reports since 2017, including 91 child. Injuries. Overall, the Consumer Product Safety Commission notes about eight child deaths from such accidents dating back to 1989. Owners who skipped earlier free wall anchoring kits or in-home anchoring services can now get refunds instead.
Cash payouts vary by model, like $110 for a certain 6-door dresser, while store credit offers more, such as $100. $75 for the same one. If you spot that date stamp, head to an Ikea store soon to cash in and stay safe, especially around kids.
