Hyped Players Worth Waiting On | NFL News
About this episode
Fantasy football draft season is heating up—but don’t fall for the hype. This episode cuts through the noise, spotlighting four players getting overhyped: Cam Skattebo (pick 40), Justin Jefferson (pick 10), Josh Jacobs (pick 33), and Harold Fannin Jr. (pick 67). Each has serious question marks—questionable QB chemistry, aging offenses, injury risks, or crowded rosters. The takeaway? Wait a round or two. These aren’t busts, but they’re not worth the early pick unless you’re desperate. Smart drafting means knowing when to hold—and when to let someone else grab the spotlight.

It's September 2nd. Welcome in. This is NFL News Today, where the lead meets AI. I'm Corey with the story. Alright, let's talk fantasy football. We're diving into some players who are getting a lot of hype this summer, but maybe a little too much. This isn't about avoiding them completely, but rather looking at them and thinking, maybe I'll grab them a few rounds later when the price is right. We're talking about guys whose projected performance might not match their draft position. One name that's popping up is running back Cam Scotabo. Currently going around Pick 40. The Giants offense, under Matt Nagy, Brian Callahan and Greg Roman, feels a bit old school. Scotabo isn't exactly a speed demon, and his efficiency between the tackles last season wasn't elite. Plus, with other backs competing and a new coaching staff, he might not be the bell cow everyone expects. Then there's why receiver Justin Jefferson, with a draft position around 10. Last year was a down year for him, and now he's got Kyler Murray at quarterback.
Reports suggest Murray is still building chemistry with other receivers, and it's uncertain if he and Jefferson will connect consistently. There are other receivers going around the same spot with more stable quarterback situations. We also need to consider running back Josh Jacobs, projected around Pick 33. He's coming off a down year and faces potential suspension. While he's bounced back before, he's carrying a lot of NFL touches already, and his big playability seems to be declining. There's just too much uncertainty to take him that early unless your draft is completely depleted of running backs. Finally, let's look at Titan, Harold, Fanon, Jr. going around Pick 67. He's talented, but the Browns offense is getting crowded with new receivers and a healthy running back. With so many other options, it's hard to see him repeating his strong performance from last season. You might find better upside at receiver or running back in that same draft range.
