These plans got the green light back in December from the Council's Planning Committee. They target the worn out look of Central Walk, swapping the outdated canopy for fresh upgrades to shop fronts and new public art than nods to local history. Meanwhile, similar fixes for nearby Chapel Street are on hold while the Council irons out details with partners. They even cleared out pigeonists, humanely, and put up barriers to stop more from setting up shop. The goal here is straightforward. Make folks feel safer. Cut down on anti-social vibes and draw more visitors to support local spots. All this comes from tackling visible decay head-on. Funded by 600,000 pounds from the UK, shared prosperity fund, this refresh should breathe new life into Hucknaw's heart, setting the stage for a busier, brighter town center.
