Maybe a couple of months ago John Ireland was voted least likely person to be in the YouTube chat. Now you live in the YouTube chat. Bring it on YouTubers. There you go. So Michael Thompson's here today hanging out. Michael, it's going on. You bring it close for me. You bring clothes every week. You know what? Yeah, I'll get these. I bought these for Mason. Yeah, you bought these for me. Yeah, I took them out of the package. Okay.
And I said, you know what? Forget it. These could fit me. Oh, yeah, those that works for you, man. I think it's a clinic. Is that an antithing? I'd be swimming in that. Yeah, so yeah, but yeah, Mason will keep these. You almost you almost got free stuff. You took off all the tags acting like this was your home. Yeah, you're on the ground and Emily picked them up. This isn't your favorite. Oh, my tags. Oh, you sloppy, sloppy. Let's take care of our works. Yeah, that's one of my pet peeves, Emily. I want my anal things. You know, you're anal about some stuff. So why do you have tags in the back of your shirts? I hate that. Well, then I would have my anal thing is putting the trash can as you take it off. I'm with Michael in this. What is the friggin point? Yeah, I don't have any tags on the back of my thing. I cut all mine off. Yeah, I tell mine off, I cut them off. What about you, Brian? Cut them. Hey, them. I guess that's why I was making. They were just printing the logo on the back of the shirt with no tags. And they got printed on the back of the shirt. I don't know why they stopped. Yeah, it's stupid. By the way, all the liquor stuff we get doesn't have tags. No, exactly. So, uh, Raynele, me, I'm driving in today
and I've got this situation where there's a merge. Oh, God, here we go. Merging. When you've got two lanes merging together, how are you supposed to handle it? Well, the guy is all the ladies in front of you by, you know, like a half a car on length. Oh, just a slight, just let them go before you. And everybody let one car in. It works like a zipper. Right. Yeah. Works like a zip. Oh, I hate turns. We may. I've been arguing you should do this for years. No, but this is no late merging. No, I'm doing it. Late merging is terrible. You merge early and then you shuffle your car like a zipper. What I always do is whenever I realize I got to get over there, I will go. I will somebody will let me in and then I will let the next guy in. That's well, that's how it's supposed to work. It's a zipper. Right. But you always want people to merge 10 minutes. No, what I don't like is the people who try to skip the line and cut all the way to the front. And then try to get through. You know what I'm talking about? If you're terrible, if you're emerging in Ireland, there shouldn't be anybody in front of you. There's a right to be behind you.
If there's a line though, okay? So like, like I just did it. It's coming up the one 10 freeway. I get off to go to the 10. Some guy was very late merging. Yeah, super late. Like he barely was going to make it. Is this super late merger? Yes. So I stopped to give him room to get in. If I would have kept going, he would have been stuck on the divider. So would I just let him in? But that guy cut the line. Yeah, he did. He cut the line. Yeah, you made it down. It works like a zipper. I always let one car in. The next guy's supposed to let one car in. The next part is supposed to let one car in. The next part is supposed to let one car in. The next part is supposed to let one car in. The next part is supposed to let one car in. Everybody else like they want to be treated and all. Totally agree. Don't be an early merger. All right. Ladies and gentlemen, Yo Shinobu Yamamoto. Everybody should be afraid of in the post. He was awesome. He was incredible last night. He was 14 and eight. He allowed only a third inning double to Ellie Delecruz after he gave up two walks to start the game. And then just retired ten in a row.
Teo looks hot. He's been rolling really good. Last 30 days. He's been killing it. Three hit game for Freddie, which is nice to see. And John, I've got little walkie here. So we've been talking about Hoseway DePaul. Yeah, like him. His average is now dropped pretty low, but I still like him. Two for 14. Yeah. But here's the thing of his first 37 big league pitches. He saw outside the strike zone. He swung at only five. So he's a good plate. Disappoint. He made 17 plate appearances without striking out before going down, swinging in the seventh inning and looking in the ninth for the Dodgers last night and that for early last night on the four nothing went. I think that's a really encouraging sign. And by the way, I think that's an organizational discipline. Having awareness of the plate, having great plate discipline is something the Dodgers preach from from the double A all the way to the big leagues. It's also important for postseason because who cares how you get on base, get on base.
So if you can get on base for the walk and the playoffs, it's important because then the next person has a has runner and then you know, you never know what happens. Get on base and everybody what happens. I think his plate discipline is something that is a good sign if he's able to play in the playoffs. By the way, I think, he's going to be on the roster. That's the one exemption that's possible. Not rushing. Well, he's not on the injured list. That's I don't know. You got to be you got to be on the list. Couldn't they put them? Yeah, they absolutely could. And that's one way to go. I just don't know why you want to left handed bad. Well, also, Roki Sasaki who were counting on the bullpen still wearing a bandage over that blister. So that is a time there. We do some work. We got some time to do. But but Michael, I think it's incredibly hard to win the World Series three years in a row. No national team has ever done it any championship. With that in mind, do you think it's somebody other than the Dodgers that wins it this
year? Dodgers will find a way. You think so? Yeah. I mean, other teams are pretty good, but you know, they've got all the pitching that pitching comes around and Otani comes back and he's Otani and months he gets his clutch hits. They'll win. The guy that woke up last night was Freddie Freeman. Yeah, Freddie three hits last night. And he's been terrible before last night. He's dealing with that. Neat thing. I wanted to play some. A lot of people think that maybe the Dodgers mishandled show Hey Otani. Here's Jim Bowden from MLB. No, I know the hard part is when you get a hall of fame or future hall of fame to like show you, Otani with that talent. And he wants to play and he fights you and says there's no reason I need to go on the IL. It's difficult in that shoe to tell him where you're going anyway. It's difficult to tell the doctor where we need to put him on that injured list anyway. So you're kind of battling everybody. But I think at the end of the day, the one thing we've complemented, the many things we've complemented the Dodgers on over the last two or three years has been their ability to get their players ready for October, right? They've done it with Blake Snell.
They've done it with Tyler Glassnell last year. They did it with Yoshi Yamamoto. They've been brilliant at it. And this is just one of the only times where they kind of dropped the ball and didn't probably handle this the right way. Ireland, did they drop the ball and not handle this the right way? No, because Michael and you played with guys like this every once in a while. When you get an iconic player on your team and Michael played with three of them with Kramer, Bill Jabbar, Magic Johnson and James Worthy, those guys get to do what they want. They're placing the game dictates that they get to do what they want. And that's the way it's been ever since Shohei got here. And so I find it difficult to lay blame at the feet of Dave Roberts or Andrew Friedman or Mark Walter or anybody because I think they told him when he came here, he said, look, I want to hit and I want a pitch. And they said, look, if you come here, we'll let you hit lead off. You can hit and pitch and you tell us when you're comfortable. And that's it.
I don't want to go back on that deal. So here's the thing though, John, he's got a knee. He's got a neck. He's got a bicep. He's basically held together with glue and tape down the stretch before he went on the intro list. And you know, to me, that's a situation where we say, look, Shohei, we love you. We'll do anything for you. But you got to say, I know, but it took him a long time. I'm not what I'm saying is there are certain things I'll compare it to this one time, Mason and I. Dave Singer was producing for us. Mike, I don't even know if I ever told you this story. So the boss is at the time, say, hey, we're going to take you guys to dinner. He was in the middle of the Lakers championship run. And they came in and they said, we were at Fleming's. Yeah, downstairs. It was the night before game seven. They said, hey, we're going to change your producer. And we said, what are you talking about? We like singer. He's great. They go, no, we're changing them. We think somebody else could do a better job. And we said, well, maybe you should get too host. You could do a better job. And we walked down to the. He stormed out of the rest. It's like stormed like I left a porterhouse right there.
And there's a way. And oh, yeah, here's a great thing. Yeah, the guy they wanted to hire to produce it. Travis Rogers, who at the time hadn't crossed over to on air. Yeah. But I even said to them, I go, I think Travis wants to be on air. And they go, well, he can play the role that like singer does. Like Emily does now because you guys, your producer is basically on air. We go, we don't want to do it. We're not doing it. If you guys want to get rid of us, go ahead and we're leaving. Yeah, we're not talking to you about this. Yeah. And I think that after that, we felt completely different about those bosses. They don't want to, the Dodgers don't want to lose showhaze partnership. Yes. They don't want to go to him and dictate to him what to do because they're afraid. He'll do what we did and say go pound sand. So I think we're still here after all these years because we won. Right. The power show. And I think showhaze would win a. Well, I'm going to be dead honest about this. I know I love Dave Roberts. Love them. If showhaze went to Mark Walter and Andrew Friedman and said, guys, I don't want to play
for this guy anymore. Dave, good luck. See you. Sure. So yeah, this is my more direct way of answering your question would be you can blame the Dodgers, but showhaze has more power than anyone in that room. Right. So because of that, if I'm going to blame anybody, I'm going to blame him. But like Michael said, if he gets better, you know, maybe these, these 15 days, I'll get them off the speeders going to help. If he gets better, then nobody's going to remember any of this anyway. Right. Maybe his body's starting to break down. He has 32. I don't know what to say. What do you look concerned about that? Why do you know these aches and pains? Tell an an artist says, oh, maybe he's the new Mike Trout. I'm like, do well. This is what Mike Trost started on. Haven't done. It's two yesterday. Michael, we talked about that. That age by the way. We talked about. He's not wrong. He literally said yesterday, Matthew Stafford has fallen off a cliff. No, the Rams got duped by the Miles Garrett trade. Which one? Rams got duped. Uh, Kishan Johnson. Oh, yeah.
Yeah. And you suggested to maybe they got maybe they got, I just mentioned key. So I don't think the Rams got to and Miles Garrett got hurt when you said you'd redo the deal right now. I want you said you want. No, right. Right. This second you wouldn't because you love Miles Garrett. Yeah, I'll give him a chance. But who doesn't love Miles Garrett? I don't know. But I think I'm going to get it. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know, but I'm just saying this doesn't sound like a four week injury to me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I just don't, I'm not enough. Just break it down, no idea. He got here ten minutes ago. Yeah, but he's 23 sacks last year. I'm talking about the show Hey, oh, I don't think so. I think the demands of pitching and hitting are too much. I don't want to see him pitch anymore. I think that's it. Yeah. I personally would like to see him never pitch again. Wow. I'm not there. that should the Dodgers suggest that to him? As John said, it probably won't make any difference because Shoei will do whatever he wants. I believe that to you. Would not Shoei listen to a doctor or multiple doctors who say Shoei is some unreasonable
power baron here. I just think he has been doing this whole life. He knows he can do both. I love watching him try and do both. I would if he would be amenable to it. Like this year he pitched once a week, right? He pitched once a week. Maybe three times a month. Maybe dial it back a little. What I would suggest is when you get to August, pitch one inning, one inning, two innings, two innings, three innings, three innings. And get that's what he did last year. He's good enough to pitch in the postseason if he's only doing one inning at a time. Because you work him up to five innings. Right. And by the way, Mace, that plan you just came up with. You rather stand on that than where you were two minutes ago. Yeah. I would like the, yeah, I would like the slow ramp. Give me his 14 starts in your second half. You're not ready to completely kill Shoei the pitch or the magic. I don't want to kill the magic of it. Yeah. I mean, that's why he, Michael, for my money, Shoei, he's the best player I've ever seen in person with my own two eyes.
Who is that for you, baseball? Yeah, I saw him playing once in person. It's probably him because like Barry Barnes obviously is great. Ken Griffey, I saw a playing person. Willie Mays. I'm not all they saw him playing person, but you're right. But Tony, the way he can steal, run the way he can. He probably can play first base if you let him the way he can pitch. He's the greatest I've ever seen. Yeah. All right, Mace, when we come back, I will make my first parlay king bet of the season. And you will be surprised. OK. The direction. I'm going. All right. Next for you, Mason Ireland, ESPN LA. Shohei O'Connor's interpreter was fired today. Epe Mitsuhara ran up gambling debts to a Southern California bookmaking operation. The inside story of the biggest scandal in modern baseball. He was absolutely bananas. The amount of bets he was making. I've never seen him like it. From 30 for 30 podcasts, this is the betrayal of Shohei O'Connor.
Presented by gusto, new episodes available now. Listen wherever you get your podcasts. I like things my way, my coffee, my schedule, and my treatment. So I talked to my doctor about self-injecting with the VivGuard Hydrilo-Prefilled syringe, which contains effgarte gum on alpha and hyaluronidase QVFC. It's injected under your skin subcutaneously. It means I can inject in my space on my time. It's my treatment my way. I'm going to get a VIVGuardMyway.com. That's v-y-v-g-a-r-t-myway.com. And talk to your doctor about VivGuard Hydrilo brought to you by Argenics. Oh, money, money, money, John. Yes, sir. I have a big lead in mythical money. I have a big lead in mythical money. But I always bet a lot during the football season, give everybody a chance to catch me. Do you have the mythical money totals and gold? What am I going to do in this, M? You're at 114. Okay. It means it's at 94. Okay, so everybody's in it. Yeah, I still have a collect of my dollar from you guys.
Oh, I owe you. Can you bring a 20? Nope. I will pay you, you deserve to win. I don't care. I don't have cash. You don't have any cash, Emily? Either is Lisa. Either is my wife. Is that a girl thing? I just think it's a, I don't need cash. Nope. Half places don't take cash. That's why they invented Venmo Zellen. That's the other one. G-tates don't tip. I just happen to have it. No, I tip on my bill. Where do I tip? Where in my life on a daily basis do I tip? Well, wait a minute. You just went on a trip to Europe and you were in a hotel. No, there. But every day in LA, what's the last time I had a tip? Never. For cash. For cash. Give me that 20, Mace. I got 19. Okay. Michael is very, very focused on this 20. When I win my bets, I want to collect. All right. There you go. All right, I'll pull this up and throw it over to you. Okay, Mace. You'll be surprised with my first parlay of the season. The parlay of King is back. Oh, back. And you can call this one Optimus John.
Okay. See if you like this as a theme song for parlay. Yes. Okay. Perfect. Good. All right. Optimus John is here. Okay. I am going to disregard everything I saw in week one of the NFL. Disregard it. I'm adopting the Steve Mason permission position. I know nothing. I saw nothing all as well. You mean, give me the Rams. Lay the seven and a half against the giant. Yesterday you said that number was too big. I did. Give me Brian Cohen's Los Angeles chargers against where he has dropped to six and a half. Oh, six and a half. Chargers lay the six and a half and give me the hapless Dallas Cowboys who are favored by four. I got a loser Ram team, a loser charger team and a loser cowboy team. They're all in one. I'm predicting Michael. They will be one in one and they will all cover.
What do you think? Little Rams Blake with giants. Giant's on Monday night. Their favorite chargers play the way. Seven. Seven. No, they're not going to cover that. The giants are for real. Seven and a half. Is it seven and a half? Yeah. So John, how much of you? Five grand. Five grand. It's base six to one. Put the 30 grand in my account. 30 grand. Perhaps it is John and while we're at it, yeah, the Dodgers are going to clinch today and they're going to do this giant champagne. Some places. So Mason says it's inevitable. Even if they lose every game for the rest of the season and back into the division title, like the Yankees did in 2000 when they lost 15 to final 18. I say let's make it interesting. All right. Remember when the red socks fell behind O3 to the Yankees. Yeah. Now, boy, they started doing shots of whiskey before the game. Yes. I think it's the reds. It's in Cincinnati. It's a four-gun conclusion. Papa bottle of each of every any. That's a joke. That's a total of what difference is it makes you going to say they're going to celebrate
another one. No, but that's a jinx. You don't want a jinx winning by opening the champagne. That's why you shouldn't do it before a series. You say there's a champagne for after you win for the series. Pop those bottles, Dodgers. Right after the first day of the cool. One of the coolest nights I ever had was in that locker room with the champagne flying all over the place and all the goggles and series win. Yeah, after the series win. That's different. Supposed to do it then. Yeah. All right. So, John, we are all you mentioned the Rams in Monday night at home, home opener versus the New York football. John, they were favorite and half it has gone down to seven and a half. So I want you to listen to something going down. I'm taking them also, by the way, John, Mason, before you get to that set, I'm going to say, Mason, before you get to that sound, you mentioned, you brought this up to me, this panic meter. John, every single one of the teams in your parlay, you're often as a parlay or on the panic meter. Exactly. Where do you think they rank? Let's say it's out of one, two, three, four, ten. Who's the number one? Who's the most panicked in the NFL?
Rams. They're number two. Number two, chargers. They are number eight. Cowboys. They are number three. You haven't gotten number one. Broncos. They are not on list. Not on the list. They look terrible. Still optimistic in Denver. Patriots. Patriots. Yeah, Patriots are number one. Yeah, they did not look good on the on the no hope meter. It's Patriots Rams, char cowboys, Packers, Lions, Titans, Eagles, Chargers, Texans and Panthers. And who is on top of the Fumia again, leader, boy, that would be the Baltimore Ravens fans. They know that you every year you fall into this trap. Michael loves the Mar Jackson. And he says every year, this is the year Lamar goes and then having this season, Michael will come to me, chicken his head going, why do I fall for the Mar Jackson and the Ravens every single year? Michael, they did do something different this year, this year. He's under center a lot more. So he's less predictable of what he's going to do. And so I think that it caught the Colts off guard.
So hopefully that continues to make the Ravens less predictable. Mar Jackson is the girl who shows up at the prom and the prettiest dress and it throws up all over herself during the prom. Derek Henry, 32 years old, still doing it. Still doing it. And Derek Henry in a big weekend. All right, let's hold that. You know, John, we've talked a lot about the Rams secondary and their performance in the opener. Richard Sherman has got a comment that might turn us around on that that's coming up next Mason and Ireland, ESPN, all right. Nick Jonas.
Now who is the best of the Joe? He is the best singer of the Joe. I think Joe is the best singer. Hard to agree. Because Nick can actually do Broadway. And he's been on by a couple of times. Joe is limited. So I will say Nick is the good looking one that's very to pre-enca. Jonas right? And Joe is recently divorced from Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones. And he's been a big fan of John Cohns. He's been dating since high school. And he's the forgotten. He's the third ranked. He just plays his instrument. You know, there is a bonus. I know there is a fourth Jonas. He's like Jimmy Osmond. He is like, he does produce his own music. I listen to it. It's pretty good. I will say. I do think they have the money to somebody because they keep performing at these sports events. They perform it like half time of the World Series. They perform that half time of the Rams Game of Australia. And I just feel that they owe money to somebody.
And they are so important. You know what? Janessa who works with us, lovely Janessa. She's great. She has seen them, I think like in the 30s. Maybe I'm wrong about that. In the 30s meaning 30 times. Good for her. Janessa is like the number one Jonas Brothers fan. And I think she. I don't like Jonas Brothers. No, I like him. But have you ever seen anybody 30 times in concert? No, I need to see 30 times. Probably my, the guy I've seen the most is staying. And it's probably between five and 10. Yeah, I mean, I think my record is five with Tide, Pink, and Bruce Springsteen. I think those are my two. All right. So, John, we've talked yesterday about the Rams secondary. Jalen Watson, Mike Evans, not a good matchup in that game. Jalen Watson sucks, right, John? I think Jalen Watson had a very bad first week. And I don't understand why when Mike Evans, when the Niners were near the goal line, and Mike Evans went out wide that they just didn't move, Trent McDuffie over.
Right. So Richard Sherman talked a little bit about the Rams wasting their defensive talent. Listen to this. The corners you got are great corners, great corners, but they have played in Spags and they're in the system, their whole career. And you don't run Spags as defense. And I hear people are like, well, they're not straight man to man. And you can't play that against San Francisco. And it's going to put you in. So have you not watched Spags play San Francisco in multiple Super Bowls, multiple Super Bowls, and have success with these same corners. There's a plan. There's already a formula out there of how to use these guys and how to use them in an effective way versus these condense sets versus all the crazy runs that Kyle runs. Now, maybe you don't have that kind of structure within your playbook to utilize them that way. But then also maybe pick up, maybe just keep the guys you got. Because when you don't play the guys strengths, when you don't use them in the way they've been used and the way they've thrived and had great success in their careers, then you're wasting them.
Like you don't use a Corvette to Uber. Yeah, that's that is an interesting point because M you brought up Chris Shula right after that game. And basically what Richard Sherman is saying is that the Rams are misusing their cornerbacks. You you bought a sports car to drive your kids to school. And the Chris Shula defense is designed to be basic and is not very good. And it's gotten been torched. But all the seasons he's been defensive coordinator. And then you go out and you buy a Corvette expecting to run that same route to school to sit in the carpool law and do nothing. They need to they should have adjusted to suit their strengths. They are the all pro cornerback. They are the they are the great all stars that you have. Go to their strengths. Not to you. Right. Do you think there's something to that that Chris Shula is not playing to the team strengths and particularly Jalen Watson and Tremick Duffy?
I don't know if maybe the Rams are one of those teams. Well, last week they would get a mind of the Ram and a mind of Mario. Yeah, it would be. Some teams don't switch the corners like they stay on the same side of the field every time. And they just don't adjust. I think what Emily is arguing is right that the Rams should adjust. Yeah, like for example, Malik neighbors is coming in Monday night. Tremick Duffy should shadow Malik neighbors. Right. Right. He's their best receiver. If Malik neighbors beats Jalen Watson one on one, that's on Chris Shula in the Ram. And it's not just the switching and being on the right guy. It's also pressuring from the start of the play. They've been letting them have the space and these wide receivers are burning them. Even in the red zone, they weren't pressing as they should. So it's they need to change the mindset and play. Again, they like the Spagnola defense again. He is probably the best defensive coordinator in the league. And it's hard to replicate. But do what made those guys so great. Yeah, and I think that's that's what Chris Shula needs to do is to play to his guys' strengths.
And it doesn't sound like according to Sherman that he's done that. And at least not yet. The Brear sound that you brought in Albert Brear. It actually talks about another weakness on the on the Rams defense. And it was more on the defensive line. Yep, here's Albert Brear. The most alarming thing to me in the entire game. Often defense special teams, whatever. Was the Rams run defense. And the fact that the Rams knew the Niners were coming at him because that's the Niners always do. The Niners believe that they are a more physical team when they play against the Rams. And that's always been their edge. So the Rams knew this was coming. And the Niners still rush for 170, 40 yards on 30 carries. And here's the thing about that is. When you got Miles Garrett, you got Aaron. It's scary to think about what the Rams could be in third and long, right? So Garrett and Donald adding to a group that already is bringing back Byron Young and Kobe Turner and Brady Fisk. It doesn't matter if you can't get into those obvious passing situations.
So he said, if you're not third and long. If you give them, you know, third and two or you give them third and four and and easy first downs. You're not going to have the opportunity to use when he gets to her Miles Garrett, when he gets here. Aaron Donald, you need to pressure those guys. And by the way, rap sheet, uh, eWrap report is saying that Aaron was expected to play out Monday. So that's what he reported. I think late last night was that. Remember what I was saying he's expected to play. Well, we trust the enrapped report, right? Yes, we do. Yeah, he and wrapped it is different than he is. That's the first time hearing it that Aaron Donald is going to play on Monday. And I, according to Ian Rapp report, that's good news. And I also think the, uh, the, the, the issue that he's pointing out with the, with the short distance on third down is that 49ers eat, eat up the clock against the ramps. And the ramps have no option. They have very little time. Even have the ball in their hands for Matthew Stafford. He turns the ball over. It's back. Yes, well, get ready because the Giants going to have exactly the same game plan.
They're going to try to run it down the ramps throat that Cowboys only touched the ball twice in the second half. And he's very hard to tackle. Very, you know, if you're, if you're only touching the ball, you can only score when you have the ball. So the Rams need to stop the run. And that comes down to Braden, Fisk and Poon, Poon, a Poon, a Poon, a Poon, four or four. It's on frame. Poon. A Poon, a Poon, a Poon. Those guys that are digging and stop the run. Yeah. So the, though, let's see. They're gonna play better. Optimus Johnson. Yeah. We have the optimist. Is it optimist or optimist? Because they made an edit of the other. Optimist with a T. Optimist John. The Rams will just, like I'm Steve Mason today. The Rams will just forget about Australia. They will. It never happened. No, it wasn't you got to throw it out. It's like Capricorn. You got to throw it out. You never went to the moon. You had three hours of sleep. Yeah. I mean, they screwed that up totally. Especially McVeigh's mistakes.
I can count as he didn't have enough sleep. McVeigh made the mistake of having a QB sneak with Matthew. Matthew. Matthew. Michael, you're a big boxing fan. You know, boxing analyst always say styles make fights. Yeah. That, you know, everybody thought George Foreman would pummel Mohammed Ali, but they didn't realize that Ali was smart. And he got an outsmarted Foreman. I think that the Niners and the Ram, the Niners are the bad style matchup for the Rams. Kyle Shanahan is 11 and eight against Sean McVeigh. I doubt McVeigh's kind of losing record against any other coach. Me. Can't imagine. Maybe Bella check, but that might be it. I actually has a bad one against Harba as well. John Harba, the Ravens head former Ravens head coach now. But is that like do you do you buy that? That in football like boxing styles make fights? Yeah, for sure. Hashanhand definitely knows all the Ram secrets. That's why I said some of the success against that.
Yeah, but the only one that ever mattered was the NFC championship game. That was the one that got us to the Super Bowl. Right. He did. He did what it mattered most. But again, great game, by the way. Awesome game. But, Joquist Kittart dropped a pass that the Niners were one. He can point out a moment like that in any game. Well, it happened. If Matthew Stafford had gotten into the end zone, it would have been a completely different. If his Donald didn't sag to me, G, when they had the ball, the back against the Rams. That's the way I'm still not convinced Matthew Stafford didn't get into the end zone on that QB sneak. I don't think you could tell. I don't know why they would have called it a touchdown. They wouldn't have reversed that. Correct. Yeah, I mean, I couldn't see where did you see my. Yeah, I couldn't tell what a ball was. I mean, it was just a match there. I don't know how to get it. No, I didn't. Ray in the YouTube chat says McVay hasn't beaten Cereani. Oh, yeah, I think they've only played two or three times. Yeah, two or three times. And they play again this year. That's right. I think they had a chip in the ball. Wouldn't they have to be able to tell if they were about that. They have a chip in the ball.
Yeah, but they broke the plane. But I don't think they they're they're not using it. Yeah, yeah, use it in that situation. The NBA is doing some of this technological stuff with calls and in bounds and out about. Well, they're going to be talking about tennis earlier, Michael. Did you hear the NBA is going to try to stuff this year of like on an out of bounds play. You won't have to call for a review. They'll just go to it. Well, also remember in soccer. No, but it would be quick like tennis. That's what they always say. I'm going to work up when Croatia scored against. I think it was Argentina. But anyway, the Croatian one single blade of the hair on the guy's head allowed for them to be on the side. So that's probably what's going to happen with this technology in the basketball. Where it's going to be similar to a soccer ball where it's just the gracing of the fingertip, the blade of the hair on the head that determines it. And then you're going to complain about that. But if you look at the replays, that's what they're doing. His finger tips touched the ball before his finger. I mean, that's what they're all doing. Because the basketball is difficult because where does the chip go in the ball in the center of the ball?
Then it determines. But then for football, they have to put it at the point of the ball. They're very tip. And then they can see it. Four words in every sport. Call on the court. Call on the field. I mean, just go with it. Just stand with you. Yeah, I mean, with it. We live with it forever. Yeah, there's no reason to change it now. Coming up next is icebreakers. It's Michael Thompson's icebreakers now. Yeah. The time he did who? He gave him an F. But he's been getting higher grades lately, right? A lot. Wait, two things ago or last week? Last week. The bad one. The bad one. Last week I thought it was a B-plug. Yeah. The one before that was the guy who Tiger Woods was on his shirt. Yeah, that was terrible. Yeah, that was terrible one. The only time the only person worse than that one was Funches. Yeah, absolutely. Ryan Seekr. Yeah, right? Yeah. Ryan Seekr. Ryan Seekr. Yeah. Ryan Seekr. Ryan Seekr. Coming up next. We will do a nice break. It's a man. It is John. I heard Michael Thompson's icebreakers. John, I want to talk about Jacob Romrani, who is officially our guy.
I want to say very clearly, you know, Jacob is somebody that I called myself in a crisis. Jacob is somebody who is a friend of ours. You hear him on the radio here. Believe me, you can trust Jacob Romrani. I've told the story before, but years ago, many, many years ago, I was representing a lawyer and he turned out to be a sheep, a shister. Yes. And I said after that was over, I will never represent another lawyer. And Jacob convinced me to change my mind. And it's because Jacob cares. And here's how you know he cares. The call when you call him is free. The consultation is free. And here's the best part. Yes. You only pay him if you win. Exactly. So put that number in your phone, 800, 345, 6789. Yep. And he had somebody on the line to tell him what to do.
800, 345, 6789. Mason Ireland, ESPN, LA. Life insurance is one of those things that's easy to put off because it doesn't feel urgent today. But it's not just another financial box to check. So here's the points we got John with 41, Maze with minus 11, Brian has four, and the others have three. Okay, here we go. Take it away. For 10 points, I was born in 1930 in Ohio and attended Purdue University.
Okay. For nine points, I earned a pilot's license. I earned a pilot's license. It's Neil Armstrong. Is it? Come on. Is it? Yeah. Oh, Jesus. Come on. I knew he was waiting. You do look over here and look at my notes. I did not know. It works. That's a good. Can you give us the hints? Yeah, give us the hints. I flew 78 combat missions in the Korean War for eight points. For seven points, President Nixon awarded me the civilians highest honor of metal of freedom. For six points, when I retired from active duty, I taught aerospace engineering at the University of Cincinnati. For five points, I am affiliated with the Greek God of Music, poetry, healing, and light Apollo. For four points, I stood in a sea without getting wet, the Sea of Tranquiliti. For three points, I said maybe the most famous quote online in world history, which is... One small step for man. One giant step for man. For two points, only 11 other men have done my job.
Yep. And for one point, my coworker has a famous cartoon named after him. Yep. Plus like it. Okay. So here's the thing. Okay. I got lucky. Here's the thing. When Jack Ireland was in fourth grade, he had to do... They had to name a famous person and do an oral presentation. And he dressed up in an astronaut costume and did Neil Armstrong. And he literally started like that. Born in 1930, went to Purdue. Yep. And then he went to grad school at the University of Southern California. Oh, is that right? Yeah. So Michael, I think that was good. I would reorder the hints a little bit. So like the ones of like associated with Apollo and the Sea without getting wet, actually like a good hint for early. Oh, yeah. Because they're not really specific about him. So it would confuse us a little more. So I had to put that one at nine. But I think that was a good round.
Yeah, that's what I was. That's what I was writing. Yeah, that's a good round. That's a great, great work, great work. That's a great, great work. You got like a 95 at BXD, and you have a small sterile number. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. Alright. Icebreakers is sponsored by Blue Ice5. They made from Idaho potatoes. And pristine tea ton water for a smoother creamier, cleaner cocktail, no sugar, just 64 calories in ounce. Look for blue ice wherever you shop for spirits. Blue Ice5 appears at teatons, it's good I got that early Michael because you know what I'm doing next week. I'm not gonna be here next week. I'm going to Lambo Field. Have you ever been there? I've been to Graham Bay, but not to Lambo. I have never been to Green Bay, never been to Lambo. And one of my best friends had an extra ticket for a trippy takes to the Packers Omoppin' River here. So I had him get me two tickets and Lisa and I are going to meet him. Oh nice, that's very cool. By the way, I interviewed Neil Armstrong years ago and I was talking to him about goals and all that stuff. He said, you know what, once you're on the moon, it's all downhill from there. Like there's no way to top that moment. That's interesting because I'm glad you brought this up.
When Sean McVeigh was on 60 minutes, he said something that surprised me. He said, I was convinced that as soon as we won the Super Bowl, as soon as I won the Super Bowl, that my life would be complete and I would be fulfilled. And it couldn't have been more wrong. Michael, your whole life, you dreamed of winning an NBA championship and not only did you win it, you won it with your favorite team growing up, the Lakers, in 87, 87, 88 season. Was it in any way of let down like did it live up to what you thought it would be? It was better than I could ever imagine it would be. So for you, it was the opposite. I don't understand where he was coming from with that. I just strange for me, but I couldn't wait to do it again and again, it's like eating a good meal. You just want more and more. Yeah, I don't get it. How could you be space satisfying? I was like, oh, this was what I expected. Are you kidding me? Yeah. It's when they won the Super Bowl. You were completely fulfilled. Oh, completely. I mean, you certainly the wagons and do it again.
You're going to do it. It's just a fist. But I made you guys roll the boulder back up the hill. I was surprised. Sean was bordering on depressed after the Rams won the Super Bowl. And by the way, depressed, just anxious about everything. I want to play this little clip from Sean. Lies, I told myself, or once we win a Super Bowl, I'll be happy. The lies you told yourself about winning a Super Bowl. And the lies I told myself where I won't be happy until I won until we win one, or I win one. And it was a lot more selfish. And you're embarrassed to look back on how you got to where you did. After the Super Bowl season, a losing season. How dark a place did you go to after? Lies, I told myself, or once we win a Super Bowl. Yeah, he's in that part you messed up on is when he talks about it. He was actually depressed and spiraling. And his wife, Veronica, got him out of it. You know, I was very disappointed in that segment because you know, they advertise the segment for the bout the Rams. Yes, they said that because I taped it. I wanted to see it. Yeah, well, the treat me was Emily.
They said we're going to talk about the LA Rams on 60 minutes. So with it promoted and we can talk about the cronkeys and their empire. That's why I didn't want to hear my shot. I want to hear I see out of the car. He's made their man. I wanted to see Mr. Cronkey. Yeah, and he almost does no media. That's why I thought this isn't going to be a treat. If you'll get to see how he builds his empire. I want to get, oh, go ahead. OK, I want to get to one more thing here before he goes to sports graffiti. Bill Simmons had an idea and I completely agree with it. I'm curious to know what you guys think. It's about the clippers. Listen, is it rebrand time? And have we had a rebrand over the years in the NBA that has actually worked? The answer for that is maybe not because we had like the Brooklyn nets with the New Orleans Pelicans. We had kind of a Charlotte rebrand with the expansion team to rebrands work. Can it work with a sports franchise? The fact that this is the solution. It's like you're out five first, your owner is just spending for a year, half the front office can't even go to the Ureena. It's like, I guess what else are you going to do at this point other than shovel some deck chairs around higher graphic designer and call it good?
Yeah. And would you call it LA or would you go, I always thought they should be called the Hollywood Knights, even though they're not in Hollywood and just have like a Knights with a K or you could just call it Hollywood Knights with an M. But either way, like it just would feel completely different. I think they need to do something like that. So, granted everybody who would be involved in that decision is suspended for a year. So, I don't even know if they can do it. But I just wonder how we run the course has 50 years of the Quippers just being a train wreck and coming up with scandals that we didn't even know could exist. Is it just time to start over? They're never a tired number Rob. They've never made the finals. Could you just reset this right now in some way? Okay. Reba has it worked. Plenty times. I agree with Michael. Minneapolis Lakers. LA Lakers. I don't know if you speak the Seattle Supersonic. Yeah. Washington Bullets to Washington Wizards. There you go. I like bullets better. I like bullets better. But I mean, the Lakers rebranded coming out here to Dodgers, Brooklyn Dodgers, LA Dodgers. Yeah. Well, those are location rebrands. Those are bullets of rebrands. But what we're talking about is changing the nickname of the team in an existing city.
And I'm trying to New Orleans went from the Hornets, so they could give Hornets back to Charlotte. Correct. And it was fine. But I agree. I'm with you, May. So I think Bill's on to some scrap it. Scrap it all. You're starting over. How about this? Okay. You have the LA lifeguards. All right. Okay. And you just turn the whole all the games into a beach party and you invite all the Baywatch girls down to hang out. And what the cheerleaders could dress in a red shirt. I think it's true. It's where you think. Sure. Better than the Clippers. All roads lead to hot girls. I don't know what a Clipper is. I know like you can explain to them. I know. But the general people don't know what a Clipper is. Yes. So I think that. I think people know that's a sailing ship. I don't think the average person. Yeah. By the way, Emily, do you know what a Laker is? I know it's based on the lakes in Minnesota. Yeah. But you know what that's not what Lakers means.
No, I don't. It's not what Lakers were the ships. The ships. You know, transported. They call them Lakers. That's where you get the name from. I love that idea. How nice. That's great. I honestly get away from the Clippers as quickly as possible. Even the Woodstars. Even the Wood instead of L.A. Inglewood. I like his idea. I like Hollywood. Night is actually really. The, when I do the games for running points in the TV show, they're called the waves. Yeah. It's good name. Yeah. Because like literally, Michael, if Mason and I always say if they would let us go on password, that'll pass word show you, you know, Jimmy found a spot at back. They've made certain I would clean up and win tons of money. If I was trying to get, okay. So. I'm going to write down a word, Michael. Oh, boy. Here we go. You're going to test you, Mason. All right. This is the word I'm trying to get him to say. Okay. Okay. Clippers. Losers. Whoa.
Now. There you go. That is that is word association. Yes, it is. I mean, to the point of you change your name, you hear the word clippers and you think losers. Yes. Write down a word for bomber. See if you'll get it. We're. Can you think of something about bomber? Yeah. Okay. We'll see it. Test them on this one. No. Here's. All right. Okay. All right. So that's the word that I think he'll. Oh, yeah. That's a good. Balmer cheater. No. Got to try another one. I thought you were going to get it. I thought you were going to get it. I was. All right. We're going to go open the phones now for sports graffiti. Clippers rebrand ideas. What should the Rams do differently with their defense? Have the Dodgers messed it up with Otoni? Is he over the hill? I don't know enough. I just want to say something. But the game is. The game is going away.
I really don't. Eight seven Seven. Seven, seven. Seven ten. Seven 10. Eight seven seven seven seven 10. ESPN. We'll get you calls in here. Come on up. Next Mason Ireland ESPN. Alight. All right.
