You're reliable inside, outside, wind in the short, intermediate parts of the field. He can work the middle. He's also really good on outs. Digs, there's a million reasons why he's gone

the primary of which is that he was owed 27 billion dollars this year. That's a big hole. He was really important and his production certainly declined as the season went along and I'm sure that contributed as well to their comfort moving on from him. But they needed to replace that player in their offense and they did. I really believe they did in dobs. I put out a stat on intermediate routes, so 10 to 20 yards. Dobs and digs were tied in yards per row. Like exactly not. Exactly. I know. I love what things like that work out. It's just like, all right, cool. Let's take him. Let's go younger. Let's slide him in. I'm not even saying he's necessarily as good as digs. Really not digs at his prime. It was such a need to me. It does not prohibit them from looking to upgrade size, speed, perimeter, whatever, whether it's a hypothetical brown trade or in the draft. But the reality is they were not going to get a top receiver in the draft anyway. So it makes sense. Jones and Keith right now on WWE E.E.I. Are you ready to grade Patriots free agent? Yes, I am Jones. I'm always ready to grade

Patriots free agency. I mean, hopefully get up early in the morning. Not totally done. No, I don't think they're done. But let's grade what they've done now through one official day of free agency. A lot of tampering that's gone on over the last couple of days. You hear Meena Kimes there off the top of the show. She likes the Romeo Dobs signing. She thinks it is kind of a one for one for Steph Diggs. He's a Steph Diggs replacement and Dobs excels in some of the areas where Diggs did. And so the Patriots despite reports have been active in free agency. They have they have done stuff in free agency despite what you may have heard predicted out there. And so I don't think it's been a grand slam. They haven't made all the moves. We want them to make. In fact, we have suggestions for them, Keith. We do. We'll go on the clock at high noon and we will finish off Patriots free agency. What we want them to do between now and the rest of the off season. So that's at high noon. We'll go on the clock with all your phone calls 617779 7937. That's how you

get in touch with Jones and Keith. You can also interact on Twitter and Instagram at Jones and Keith. You can watch along and chat at twitch.tv slash Boston W E I always and I mean always a healthy chat going on on Twitch. Do the same on YouTube. You can watch there. You can chat there. Just subscribe to W E I will talk red socks baseball and the world baseball classic USA. Survived by the way. What a relief. Backing into the quarter finals. Thanks to team Italy. Thank you team Italy. Shout out to all the Italians out there. All the Italian Americans out there. Oh, what a wagon. I saw a great tweet. Somebody was like, I can't do anything tonight because I need to watch a bunch of Italian Americans play a bunch of Mexican Americans to find out if the American Americans make it. Well done. That was worth those worth tuning in on FS one. Maybe on 2B as well. So we'll talk to Brad Fo coming up at 1130 plus we have a key for madness for you at 1245. So stay tuned for that. How would you grade the Patriots free agency to this point, Keith? I could be plus.

I mean, be plus. You can even talk me into a little bit higher, honestly, because I don't think the free agent class was amazing. And so maybe, maybe it is closer to an A minus if you're just saying free agency and you're not taking into account trades. Right? Are you saying off season? Maybe I go B plus. If you're saying let's say agency. Let's say off season. Our half season I would say B plus because you know, guys like AJ Brown and Max Crosby, which both are on the table still. So it could and you go into the season or you could even go into the draft with it being an A plus if you get like one of those guys. But I would say when you look at what they've done in free agency. Or I guess I should say the other players involved. I didn't love. I'm not like, oh man, no Alec Pierce. In fact, I think that's a blessing in disguise. I didn't really want Alec Pierce. I'll take Romeo Dobbs. I still think you can improve that spot. Kevin Byrd was the guy we talked about that they might get. They get him great. I don't know how much she's got left in the tank. He's an older player. But I like him quite a bit.

I think that's an up. You've upgraded your safety spot. I think that was such a predictable and obvious move. But I also like that move a lot. I like that one. Yeah. That's just, you know, it was a day one signing, quote unquote, in free agency. He's a veteran. How much do you have left in the tank? Good question. But he was productive last year for the Bears. He's a veteran. I think it's a good pair with Craig Woodson, like a veteran next to him. Yeah. And a guy who you know understands Rable understands Rable system. So yeah, I thought that was a for what it was. Yeah. A one year deal for a 30 plus year old safety. I thought that was a really good signing yesterday. I think you have the best secondary in the NFL now. And it was. Yeah. Your corners are good. Yeah. Corners are really good. And Woodson really emerged by the end. He did. So like if you're two is the one rookie who like was better in the postseason. Everybody else is to row down. Yeah. And so now if you want to take like your top five defensive backs, you're starting two safeties. You're two corners in your slot corner, who is also great all year. I think they have the best secondary in the league. They needed help on the O line. And this guy

needs to stay healthy. So that's going to be a big question mark. But a Vera Tucker is healthy. It feels like the combination of Campbell Tucker Wilson might even be better than Campbell Wilson Bradbury. At least that's the hope for the team. Yeah. And Dremont Jones, you get at least one pass rusher who's coming off a pretty good season. And yeah, I didn't think Trey Hendrixen was realistic. Like you're feeling like, you know, top end guys. We wouldn't like them. But I didn't think he was realistic here. I didn't really think Crosby was super realistic either, but we would have taken both obviously. No, and then they, you know, they filled in the roster with some other guys like special teams guys or whatever. Like I think by my count, they've signed like eight players. And a few of them are going to be starters. So I think free agencies actually gone really well. It's not like the big, big, big time names, but there weren't a lot of those guys available. B plus. Yes. B plus four rich Keith. How would you grade Patriots free agency to this point? Six, one, seven, seven, seven, nine, seven, ninety, three, seven, or the off season, off season B plus free agency. I know it's confusing, but there's a distinction. Let me refresh. The Patriots off season is a B plus. That's what I'm curious about. I'll give you my grade here

in a moment, but just a recap. You mentioned the moves that they've made. Romeo Dobs for four years and 68 million. Elijah Vera Tucker, three years, 42 million. Dreymont Jones, three years, 39 and a half million. They signed Kevin Byard yesterday. The safety formerly of the Titans played for the Bears last year, 36 picks in his career. One year, nine million is what they got Byard for Reggie Gilliam, the fullback who I always forget about, who's not a tight end. Nice. A fullback. They got him on a three year deal for 12 million bucks. I do. Nick brought this up the other day. That might be an indication they are leaning in on a trivia on Henderson backfield, like not a Ramandre Stevenson backfield, a Henderson backfield. He's a similar build to James Cook. Gilliam was a big part of the bill's running game there. Like that, that might be an indication that I'll take a tray the on Henderson wheels up breakout with a fullback in front of him. That's the kind of offense they're going to run, but we can circle back to that and then more minor signings for them. Julian Hill related to Greg gotta be no relation again. I'll see Mike Brown and KJ don't call me Kenny Britt. All right. That's the off

season to this point. I grade him a B and I got to say good solid free agency. They've already kind of spent more money than I expected. Believe it or not. So if I were grading craft, I think I'd even go higher. I think craft is spent more than I expected. I thought they might really sit this free agency out like they did two and three years ago where they sit on their hands, they sign nobody. It's a bunch of nothing signings and no guaranteed money. Let's really dig in on the dobs contract once we get the details. Bi artist short money. Dremont Jones, some of the details came out today. The Vera Tucker original reporting was nonsense. I mean, he's not going to see most of that money if he's hurt, which is probably smart business for the Patriots. Yeah. Let's see what the dobs deal is, but I'd probably grade craft even higher. I didn't think he'd spend like this. I like a lot of what they've done. It just feels incomplete. Right. So you're right. If they draft an edge rusher at 31 and now you pair that with Dremont Jones or they have a Max Crosby train up their sleeve or the most realistic one that I think is right in front of our

faces. And we've talked about it all off season. But I like that. Rabel seems to have a little Dave Dumbrowski in him, Keith, where they're going to make some obvious moves. I don't have a problem with that. Like good. Like buyard to me was an obvious move. You can see that coming. Right. Great. And I think I think you can see AJ Brown that move in the Patriots future. And good point. And I feel a little bit better about that. Because I'm so obvious and I just had a tightens guy and Rabel has a connection to him and Rabel's bringing in his guys. That's AJ Brown. So to me, I can't go higher. I mean, maybe it'd be pluses fine. Yeah. But I can't go like a full letter grade higher on this off season until they do what I feel is a complete off season. You still need an alpha number one ride receiver. You still need another edge rusher, whether that's free agency or the draft. I'd still like them to show up the offensive line. But honestly, I think they put themselves in a pretty good position for draft season already. Yeah. Yeah. Which is what they did last year. Let the draft come to them. It's exactly what they did last year. Right. Now there were still a hole there at left tackle, but they had the fourth pick in the draft. And then they ended up doing sort of again, the obvious thing. And they took

the best in their mind offensive lineman in the draft this year. We'll see what needs are still there. And then you could probably point to what they do at 31 or what they do in the second round. Because as of right now, they still have all of their draft picks coming up. The other part of this is unlike the red socks who their off season wasn't just about who they added. It was about who they lost. Painters haven't lost anybody of real consequence. Chase on was good. I want to give him credit. I'm not like saying, Oh, you know, you're fine without him because he was good. He was really productive better than we thought. They only had on most of these lists two top 100 free agents. It was chase on and the other ones, Jalen Hawkins, which they can they already upgraded. They already upgraded. So you're not losing anybody of consequence. I think they upgraded to Hawkins got what two years, 10 million from Baltimore. So Tonga signed with the chiefs. I don't have a nice player. And that's fine. But like I don't care at all about Tonga and Jalen Hawkins. Yeah. It was really digs. Digs was the one that stood out. That wasn't like a free agent, but you caught him. So he became one. But that that was the only one where you're like, okay.

What guy was on the team last year that was really productive. It is no longer on the team. And maybe Romeo Dobbs, you know, maybe Mina Combs is right. Maybe they're he's gonna have similar production and run the same routes and do a lot of the same things that step digs is it's possible. But I'd feel so much better if they were able to get AJ Brown and just add somebody else to that room. I think they've gotten worse in the receiver room, definitely, which is why it feels incomplete to me. I don't think they're done there. That doesn't mean they're getting AJ Brown. But I don't think they're done there. I think they have potential to have upgraded the offensive line, potential to upgrade the pass rush and they definitely upgraded its safety. So, you know, there's more moves I'd like to see. I think they could use a tight end. I think they need to show up the old line. I think they need another ed rusher. They need an alpha number one receiver. But they've already spent more and done more than I expected at this point in free agency. Because you know, we had realistic expectations. I didn't expect them to do nothing. But I expected them to enter this slowly and I like what they've done to this point. The one second guess I'd have is the name you just mentioned.

Cheson, we talked about this late in the show yesterday. When I rather have him at one year, 12 million or Dremont Jones on his deal. That's a close one to me. Like Cheson's cheaper than Dremont Jones. And I know he works here and I thought he was really good. Maybe not in the Super Bowl so much. But throughout the postseason, I thought he was really good and a really productive year. And it's a one year deal where he's still motivated on a prove it kind of contract. Yeah. Dremont Jones better be an obvious upgrade because that's one that I would second guess. But otherwise, I don't think they've lost much. I wonder in this defense if he if he will be, right? And maybe they're projecting that forward because last year at this time, when they added Cheson, we're like, okay, actually, I don't even know if we said okay. I don't even know if we talked about it. Like we talked about it in camp. I think we barely mentioned his name because we're like, oh, they got Harold Landry. Harold Landry's going to be your guy. Oh, you still need some past rush. Who else is it going to be? You know, Jennings, where it might factor in. And he just played well early on and then never really looked back. So I'm hoping that Dremont Jones will be better, right? Because like he's already a little bit more of a flashier signing. Doesn't mean that those guys always pay off. But clearly,

Vrable and his team, they identified something in Dremont Jones had a bunch of quarterback hits in Harry's last year had seven sacks, which Cheson had seven and a half. So that number's pretty close. And so he could be better. Also, we'll see who they get to line up on the other side. Maybe it'll be a first round pick. We'll see because you know, they talked about like sort of clearing the decks. Like they got rid of it. Like Jennings isn't even an option right now. So they they know that they need to identify that position even more so. The one other move when we mentioned this at the time, that if they don't get AJ Brown, I'm going to point to, and that was the Michael Pittman trade. Pittman's a good one to circle back to because that guy I think would pitman or dobs. I like Pittman more. I do too. I think that's what the combination's nice. Oh, sure. You could have done both. Good point. You could have done both. I just feel like there was so much attention around Alec Pierce. He was the free agent. He ends up resigning with the colts and makes a ton of money. And I'm good with that. Michael Pittman, who for the last few years, I thought was better than Pierce. I know he didn't have the 1000 yard season like Pierce did last year, but just like overall receiver plunk him down here

with the Patriots and with Drake May. I thought he would have been really good. And the contract's not that crazy. And the draft compensation was nothing. So like you could have had him you didn't because the free agent listed receivers really wasn't that impressive to me. But couple of guys that move teams like dance a little bit. Well, and maybe they're not done. Maybe, yeah, maybe Joanne Jennings is an option, meaning in free agency, they're not done. Or maybe there's another, maybe it's Tyree Kill. You know, maybe it's a guy like Brandon Ayuk, text line is suggesting Ayuk. It's the Ayuk guy. I think there's a guy that texts every day about Ayuk. Guys, the cheap Patriots will bring in Brandon Ayuk at like eight million. Wait, what is the deal with Brandon Ayuk? I have no idea. Is he like on the night school? Oh, no, no, they released him yesterday. Oh, was the was the report they planned on releasing or they released him? I think they officially again, can they find him to release it? I think they I thought he needs to get served. They like find somebody to like are you Brandon Ayuk? I need to check it if it's official or not. He will he will get released. He will not be there. Okay. But guys, the cheap Patriots are going to get Brandon Ayuk at like eight million. That's what we can expect. Don't

expect AJ Brown and Dodd's no chance. There's question though. Does that guy want to play football or does he just not want to play for the Niners? Like what happened? I mean, Eddie guys, do you think it eight million? It's worth finding out that I mean that kind of deal. I might talk. I would probably talk myself into Brandon Ayuk. I didn't want to trade for him, but low money like that. Maybe although if the whole rest of the league is staying away, that should probably tell you all you need to know about him. Just because you mentioned Ed rusher or or where you can kind of target a player, I've had this tweet kind of back pocketed for a while. We haven't talked a lot of draft yet. But Daniel Jeremiah, who I think is the best on the draft NFL network moves the sticks. He does move. The at move the steps by the way on Twitter. I see the sweet spot in this draft between pick 50 and 75. So the Patriots have picked 63. That's right. Square in the middle. He says there's going to be a bunch of solid starters in that range. Corner, wide receiver, Ed rusher. He says what you get at 75 will be almost identical to what you get at 45. So to me, that's another reason to trade 31. Crosby, AJ Brown. I don't think you can get Brian Thomas Jr. anymore. Some people

would give up a first rounder for him. I would not. But that's a reason to trade 31. If you're going to get a good player at 63. And those are, I mean, two of those are your big positions in need. Wide receiver and Ed rusher, at least sitting here now today. And Jeremiah says you can get a good one at 63. That makes it even more likely that I'd give up 31 in this draft. Yeah. Although if you get a good one at 63, can't you get a great one at 31? I don't know. I mean, I guess like, you know, maybe it's more just it's deeper than it is like top end talent. I think there's a lot more second round grades distressed than there are first round grades. Right. So the guy you get at 31 might be greater to the second rounder. And the guy you're getting at 63 might not be that different from what you get at 31. Also, the talk is, and I feel like this happens often is next year's draft is awesome. Everyone's saying you want picks and next year's choice. I'm like, you hear that a lot. All the time. So part of my they weren't saying about that about this year. No, I guess they weren't. But they, but they do a lot. They do it in basketball. They do it in a lot of drafts. So they're saying 2027. Everybody wants 2027 picks. So my key conspiracy is with going back to the Ravens thing.

I wonder if somebody finally told them to like, Oh, by the way, like next year's drafts really good. They're like, Oh, we did that pick. We did the back. Give him the back. Feel the physical. But yes, that's another one where if you are interested in Max Crosby or AJ Brown or somebody else, it'd be it. I think the paths are more likely to trade these picks than they would include future picks. Let's see. Other texts here. Guys, I think Gilliam will be huge for the development of Travion. Okay. Elite blocker who should open up more holes for him. Instead of just the outside runs he went for last year. I think there's something to that. Nick said that the other day. I think there's something to that. The fullback is assigning for Travion Henderson and an indication they're going to unleash him this year. I think I've got to decent point. Keith, do they lose points for cutting digs on your grade? You gave me a B-plus for the overall offseason. Yeah. Me too. That's part of why it's a big. I think you downgraded in the receiver room at this point. Yeah, because I think you can certainly, I don't think it's even a debate. You're better in the secondary. Then you can argue whether you're better on the defensive line edge, right? That's debatable. And they all lie. Yep. Those are both debatable.

And they would obviously they deserve the benefit of the doubt because they had such a good offseason a year ago. But receiver to me, I think is is worse right now. But it doesn't. I mean, it can't get better. Again, if you obviously, AJ Brown's one thing, but even if you added like a first round pick, like the first round pick, assuming they don't go like bell check style and draft like a random position and just go like, oh, we need a linebacker. If they grab an edge rusher or a receiver in the first round, you're like, okay, like add that to whatever you have right now. That kind of elevates everything. Guys, it's a C at best. Let's be real. Hold on. That's another text. That's greater. We can get all your grades again to be teacher probably. All your grades six, one, seven, seven, seven, nine, seven, ninety three, seven. I mean, look, I don't think it's a home run of an offseason yet. AJ Brown would make that, but it's a good, solid offseason. I like it to this point. Also, this text guys, they are going to get AJ Brown. Okay. They're just going to sign him trade form. Yeah. Yeah. After June 1st, I guarantee. I'll even text back when they do and say I told you. So I'll look forward to that. And if that all happens after June 1st, no harm. No foul. I just, how does this work? Do you know the

answer to this? So I saw like two of that release, but it's like with designation for June 1st or whatever. It's like a money thing. If you were going to trade AJ Brown after June 1st, could you be, could you still trade for a pick this year? No. Yeah. I think so. Okay. Well, see, I don't know the answer. I guess I don't know the answer. I wonder if like, I don't really want to pick on this year's draft. I think, for instance, with two and AJ Brown, and that's, you can't report till after June 1st. So he'll miss all your mini camp and all that. But the way they all work out the offseason, they're all working out. Where was Drake May working out? As you're in North Carolina, well, the receivers in Japan. No. All right. AJ Brown could do that. So Drake May had a sword. He's on the samurai sword. A lot of people sent me that. I know you saw that. I did. That was great. Be careful, Drake. They're real sharp. Yeah, we were real careful. But somebody asked me, do you think Ann Michael's throwing him melons and fruit? No fish. No, probably not. I doubt it. No, that'd be a good video, though. That would, they can take that. You could probably get a viral video there. So I can do all the cookies that didn't make the batch. How about that? How about that? Biggest stuff. What if Ann Michael just starts throwing cakes at him. He slices them with the sword. She's working on something. She's like, this isn't going to work. Toss it to him. He destroys it.

Slice it with a sword. That'd be great content. Or she's like, hey, I need a slice key. Do it. She's toss it to him. That would be really strong content. So by the way, I haven't mentioned this yet today. Number one, we're about 24 hours away from the Jones and Keith, the inaugural Jones and Keith Awards tomorrow at 10 o'clock. I'm getting more and more excited. I've heard some of the production that Nick has put together. And it is just tremendous. Well, we have a who's who of presenters. We really do. So you and I are the hosts, obviously, but the presenters. It's pretty star studded. Who's presenting the awards? Right. There's a lot of awards. There's like a John Wiggins, Courtney Cox, Andy Hart, Jackson, Ted Johnson. Ted Johnson. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Good stuff. It is good stuff. Stis and ball. A Brian's showing some of my handiwork with the bling. Mark Mingles. So I think Ken's going to hand out show of the year, which I'm looking forward to. Literally the busiest guy in the building. And we got him to do to give it a waterway. I love it. So good. So we have also four more matchups today in the Jones and Keith bracket.

I'm sorry. The Jones and Keith bracket are 1990s early 2000s bracket. Our matchups today, as we're back to the Woodstock 99 region. We're just about all of the grab bag. Before the Patriots, what I've told the Romeo dobsigning does not end their interest for AJ Brown. It certainly changes it. They're not desperate for a Y receiver anymore. They're not

hungry and needing to overpay. Maybe it changes leverage. Don't rule this out. Maybe this is a conversation we talk about later in the off season when it becomes a little bit more advantageous for Philly after June 1. It goes from a potential losing $20 million on their cap if they trade AJ Brown to gaining $7 million on their cap if they trade them after June 1. Just keeping an eye on that from what I understand the Patriots still love him. They're just not as needy to get him as much. Not if they have Romeo dobs in it. Bush and corn. A 1-8 second round matchup in the Woodstock 99 region. A real would you rather of the Jones and Keith 1990 slash early 2000s heavy metal new metal grunge alternative pop punk butt rock rock bands bracket. You could still vote in some of yesterday's matchups closing out the grab bag region, but we're on to round two. Here at Jones and Keith, Bush and Corn. Again, a 1-8 matchup coming your way. About 15 minutes from now, you can vote at Jones and Keith on Twitter and Instagram. You will also get the

offspring and limb limb biscuit. You'll get the red hot chili peppers and rage against the machine and our one upset in the Woodstock 99 region. God's Mac took down kid rock. It got very political. Yeah, it did and local though. Yeah, the local. Historically, the local teams and local vote came. Jersey's do very well. It means that's sure. Well, maybe Metallica's on upset watch. I would take it on God's Mac. Again, those four matchups will be live today at Jones and Keith in the Woodstock 99 region of the Jones and Keith 1990 slash early 2000s heavy metal new metal grunge alternative pop punk butt rock rock bands bracket and don't forget tomorrow, starting at 10, the inaugural Jones and Keith awards handing out such prestigious awards as grab bag of the year. Yep. Drop of the year. Keeper madness of the year. Madness of the brag of the year. Co-worker. Haas of the year. Fill in hosts. Yeah, I've already got some text about that. Yeah. Random ball player. Random ball player of the year. We got a Henry surprise question. And the production sounds fantastic. Nick's been working

very hard on it. Billy did a great job wrangling and all the presenters. Yes. Who will be a part of the inaugural Jones and Keith awards. That's tomorrow. I can't wait. At 10 o'clock. We'll probably get to the Celtics in Oklahoma City at some point as well. One texture is asking where you two is Keith. Metallica only has seven Grammys. You two has 22. Why is YouTube not on the brand? Not about the Grammys. It's not a Grammy list of who has the most Grammys. Nobody ever considered that. I also believe YouTube to be more of an 80s band and sucks. So that's why I didn't include that. It's funny. See, I would agree on both counts. I would agree that they're the 80s and also I don't really like them. And so now we got to we got to leave them out. Is it more insulting to say we don't really like them or they're first four out? We just don't deem them as one of the best. I don't even think they were first four out. Yeah, I don't think they were really a candidate. So I often will ask GROC or Google AI questions. But hey, stop. I think most how you doing most people now do. I think that's that's how people use it despite despite the massive power and like planet altering power of AI. I think most people

just use it to chat with and ask questions like it's Google. Yeah, I think that's what people do. Sometimes you want a friend. Yeah. And so I asked them what's going on. And so I said is YouTube more of an 80s band or a 90s band? The answer or GROC said quickly was 80s band. They're more considered an 80s band. First one you've got right there. GROC. So good for you. You heard coming back there. Cameron Wolfe says AJ Brown still in play. I know Chad craft graph wrote yesterday that it's on the back burner. Doesn't mean that it won't happen. But it's on the back burner. They're going to revisit with the Eagles closer to the draft post June one date that et cetera, et cetera. You graded Keith. The Patriots off season to this point is a B plus. I went B. I'm always a little more negative a little more plus half empty. That's all right. So I went B. But an AJ Brown move could rocket that to an A maybe even an A plus for this off season depending on what they do at the draft. I do like the buyered signing quite a bit. So no, I think it's a big upgrade. You said what about their secondary secondary in the NFL? I can't think of a better secondary right now. I hadn't considered it. I was about to say Seattle, but then Seattle's

lost guys this off season. They lost two of them. They lost Rick Wullen and yeah, one of the safeties Kobe Bryant. I think that's gone. So yeah, it's hard to say it's them. The Patriots might have the best secondary in football. Yeah, because Woodson's playing so well because last year it was they had the best corner duo or at least arguable. I think, you know, when Carlton Davis wasn't giving up big plays, you know, he did have a decent season. And then Marcus Jones was so good as a slot corner. So you're like the three corners you would take against anybody and you're like, all right, the safeties aren't as strong. But then Woodson played his tail off by the end of the season. You're like, if he takes an even bigger jump in year two, which is possible. And then you add Byrd to it, those five guys, I'd put them up against anybody in the whole week. Well, I think it's a good point. What I didn't realize about Byrd, and we were asking Brian for Zoko, who works with WEEI afternoons, but fills in here and there on Twitch. He's running Twitch today. Bears fan, big bears fan yells at us most of the time. We do our tears about where we put the bears. A lot of bears takes. So he's watched a lot of Kevin Byrd the last couple of years. And he said, and I assumed he'd be a captain on this team. Like he played for Vrable for a long time in

Tennessee. Uh, he knows Vrable. He knows the system. I assume captain was like kind of a foregone conclusion. He's like, he's going to be the digs replacement fire in the boys up before the game. Oh, so like not just a captain, but like a fiery leader like digs was last year. So I, because I was kind of wondering if digs is out, who's that guy going to be? He's like, it's going to be fired. Love it, which, uh, which I think is, you know, not the reason you sign a guy, but that's an added bonus to signing him. But yeah, you'll, you'll definitely take him and it seemed like if he was available a year ago, don't you think the paths would have been in on that too? Like that seems like a classic Vrable guy. And so yeah, I didn't thought of it before when you said, well, AJ Brown's also an obvious kind of. Now there's a little bit more nuance to this. Philly has to eventually part ways, but sometimes the obvious answer is the right answer. And they did it at safety and maybe they'll do it. Why don't we used to do this with Dombrowski? I said this earlier, but we used to do this with Dombrowski where it's like, uh, these are all the obvious guys and Dombrowski's is going to go get him any got him. I, I kind of think there's a little bit of that with Vrable's probably too early to say he's Dave Dombrowski. What he sees

he wants, but that is what he said when I want something, I buy it. Yeah. And yeah, AJ Brown is so obvious. It's like buyer was so obvious. I, I in some ways feel better about that happening. But if they're really cheaping out, I think Garrett Bradbury's still on the team. They don't get Vera Tucker. They probably don't even sign dog. I think when Vrake, I expected all Aussies and they weren't going to spend money until Vrable said, I, you know, I shop at Neiman Marcus, I shop at Nordstrom when I see something. Usually I go buy it. That changed my outlook on their Aussies in a little bit. Uh, and so yeah, I think I think they've spent already more than I thought. They're not spending like crazy. They're not spending like a year ago, but it's more than I thought they'd follow up on last year's spending. And I give craft credit for that. And AJ Brown would make it a real legitimate home run. Yeah. How right now, Keith, if they had to line up and play games, how good is this team? Are they good enough to, let's start with this. Are they good enough to win the AFC East right now? Yeah, I think so. I think the bills got better with DJ Moore, but the more we talk about DJ more, the less I really like him. I think he's better than what they had.

No, I like the idea of DJ Moore. I was just going to say that you like the idea of DJ Moore, the more you dug in, you're like, no, I don't know, but it is an upgrade for them. And Josh Alan's probably the best player in the NFL. But what else do they, they need to improve, right? They're not the team that won the division and they lost, they split the games against each other and they didn't even make it to the AFC Championship game last year. So I'm not as high on the bills as maybe some people are just expecting this giant bounce back. You still have the coach quarterback combo that most people around the league would be jealous of. And we just went through all the different position groups. The only one right now that is worse than a year ago is receiver. And even still you're hearing people talk up Romeo Dobbs. So maybe it's not as bad as I thought. And well, it's definitely not as bad as I was bracing for after listening to Phil and Tom Corona earlier this week. I was bracing for it's booty. It's Hollins. It's Kyle Williams and it's like another draft pick. I'm like, that's horrible. This is better than that. This is better than that. It's not as good as digs. I don't think maybe Dobbs will prove me wrong. But it's not a worst. I was bracing for way worse than throwing $68 million Romeo Dobbs.

It was already one of the best defenses in the league. And I think they got a little bit better. The offense will see overall how much better it gets. But you have an MVP candidate in quarterback. And I understand the schedule is a way tougher next year. So let's say they lose four more games that still 10 wins in a playoff spot. That's where I think they are right now. And we'll see if anything changes that or if they even possibly go up with some of these other moves that are there or what other big trades are still out there or how the draft shakes out for everybody. But no, I think they're a good team. And you should expect them to make the playoffs as currently constituted unless you know, some AJ Brown moves or whatever are baked into it. Their win total right now is nine and a half. So I'm taking the over on nine and a half. I think it opened at 10 and a half, right? And I was like, Oh, I'm taking the under on that. I love 10 and a half. So like that to me is a real good number to sneak in and take the over. I think right now they're good enough to beat the bills in the division and win 10 games and make the posties. You get AJ Brown. I think you're thinking a lot bigger than that. Definitely.

So that's how I'd answer that one. You guys can discuss along with grading the off season at six one seven seven seven nine seven ninety three seven. Let's get to the world baseball classic. right yeah yeah what do you call that rock rock horns rock horns emoji yeah sound of the devil is what is what rock hit us with yeah I think so uh so make sure you go vote uh the one eight matchup in the Woodstock 99 region corn and bush Jones and Keith 1990 slash early 2000s heavy metal new metal grunge alternative pop punk butt rock rock bands bracket some would say it's a month long uh what they say rock concert rock concert uh no what did rock say it was it was so well put it was a month long rock tournament that makes sense it is rock turns what it is so shout out out rock we should get that thanks rock yeah when we go when we ask rock who you think we'll win oh go ahead now yeah I already did that oh we did oh I thought you did that no I didn't do that not we I was leaving it up to the people I'll ask rock yeah Keith doesn't try to influence the vote whatsoever what are you talking about I just said who I like doesn't matter that doesn't mean I voted bush uh well but you can vote at Jones and Keith uh meanwhile we had the world baseball classic

last night uh Keith yeah we did I actually watched a decent amount of your past watch guy the past watch was going nuts he's great I mean apparently Italy is really good not a lot of distance on those home runs last night I wouldn't say any more moonshots by any means no uh but three homers for the path robbed the first one say it again I thought they ran robbed yeah they didn't they weren't super deep any of the home runs but they all count three home run game for the past watch we knew we liked them for a reason yeah maybe maybe team Italy's just good maybe they are they haven't lost right uh by the way rock thinks nirvana's gonna win that makes sense yeah that's I bet I bet they're the favorite uh huh it says uh nirvana or pearl jam could uh maybe pearl jam could pull it off dark horses their dark horses were tool deft tones and Allison chains ooh they have like a full breakdown I know that Allison chains would be much of a dark horse but I think it's probably based on the season oh god because of four seed made here's like that but yes so watch the world baseball classic yesterday and you knew all the different tie breakers and everything else for team USA so it's such a weird way very anticlimactic to like get into the quarter

finals it's so as the game's going on Italy's winning and you're like all right well if Italy wins and us goes on but then you're like well wait a minute if they just score x number of runs there in good shape but not so fast it's not total runs it's like earn runs or whatever so then they did it's run run runs allowed per nine innings because of a win to correct yeah there's something correct that that was throwing was throwing me off so like as soon as Italy got to five runs you were like oh the it's over right no not so fast if they go to like a long extra inning period a 20 a 20 inning game or something like that right there but anyway regardless they advance taking on team Canada another good tweet I saw yesterday was they're like somebody should tell mark to rosa that it's single elimination the rest of the way because like who knows of this guy like you're one and done the rest of the way they're mark I see the best we could do for USA manager and I get you can't take a current manager because they're all running their team like I understand that but like there's nobody who's just at a baseball for like has he ever managed mark the rose he sits on the MLB network and has bad takes like like like I like I could manage the

USA if that's the requirements so like how did he get the gig I don't know I feel like again this the United States I feel like we could do better than than mark to rosa I think so I thought I want America's past I would have even if he knew all the rules I would think that and it turns out the guy didn't even know the rules no I know but US Canada US Canada so they if they win this one they'll officially be the best team in North America who not already beat Mexico Larry Walker Jason Bay yeah going to be pumped good squad the late great Justin Cormier oh yeah for sure Justin more now oh good Canadian good squad yeah Canada's not about you running out of Canadians that's all that I got yeah you got more there big maple no yeah yeah no he's definitely a Canadian that'd be good it's right there in the name so no I'm I'm happy that US is through because I was about to stop watching this tournament if the United States was out I was about to tap out that would have been a tough go if it was because we got the quarter finals on Friday as of tomorrow so Korea Dominican Republic at 630 and then you'll like this eight o'clock on Fox hell yeah US Canada well

that's what they should do is Mexico Canada that gave me on to be and people would be like we're the tournaments over this Mexico Canada I'll watch the Durant highlights I'm not trying I'm not trying to watch that game you know so that they needed they needed this yeah the tournament needed this because they were about to have a whole country tune out on this thing but no fortunately the US was able to back in and hopefully they now start taking the game seriously again and their manager as you said Keith knows it's single elimination is it yeah so the championship game if they're able to get there is Tuesday the same Patty's day get excited for that that's great too bad team Ireland's not in it good call what's John Farrell up to about the text line I think he's catching lobster or something that's last ice isn't he like a lobster man yeah yeah yeah yeah he was out last I knew he was in Charlestown last I knew good spot for lobster that's your grub right there you keep your boat keep your boat right in the right in the the drink you're good six one seven seven seven nine seven ninety three seven we got all your phone calls here you want to jump in on Patriots free agency you can what are the Patriots have left to do discuss that as well along with the world
