Welcome to the Business Without Burnout podcast. I'm Kirsten Rodan, and I help entrepreneurs make a lot of money peacefully. I'm an Eureken who went from working in healthcare while cleaning houses and braiding hair on the side to building a business that's generated over $4 million in counting. But there was a time I almost shut my business down because I had a lot of money, but no peace. I managed to turn it around, and that's why every week I share the four strategies that help you grow without burnout, email marketing, team, systems, and mindset. So let's dive in. Hello, peaceful millionaires. Welcome back to the podcast. Today, we have Taloo on, and I am so excited for you all to hear her experience inside a million dollar email. We've been working together for a while now, and I've loved seeing her growth and transformation. So please introduce yourself to those who don't know you. Thanks, Kirsten. Super excited to be on. Hello, everyone. My name is Taloo. I'm a Christian dating coach. I've been doing this for close to 10 years now. I specialize in helping Christian single women get married in a year. Lovely to be here. Super excited. So good. I love it. So tell us about
what you were doing in your business before a million dollar email, and why you were attracted to joining. Okay. Before I joined a million dollar email in my business, I knew I had reached the point where I wanted to be social media optional. So that really stood out to me because I use social media a lot, specifically Instagram, but I wanted to build a connection with my onto audience. And I know that million dollar email teaches you how to do that through email. And my favorite part is the fact that I can still be on social media, but not rely on it. So that's when I got really interested in the program, and I decided to join. And why did you want to be social media optional? Like you said, you wanted to connect with your audience, but how are you feeling about social media at that time that made you want to do it? Right. I was feeling like I was, my results were tied to social media. So if I want to see results through my program in terms of clients signing up, finding out about me, I have to go on
social media. And at that time in my life, I was very busy, and that started to feel like a burden. And I'm not really a fan of scheduling out Instagram posts, specifically, but I wanted to learn how I can build that out on an email platform through scheduling. So I knew that when I joined million dollar email, I would be able to learn the tools to make sure my emails were landing the same mail in my social media posts were landing without compromising my time or feeling heavy. Did you already have an email list at that point, by the way? I did. I did. I had an email list, but I wasn't really using it. I would send emails, but they were not in hindsight, because I'm not an MD or so in hindsight, they weren't really structured. I wasn't really connecting with my audience through story. I didn't have an offer store. I didn't have weekly series going on. So I knew I had, I probably had about three thousand people
on my email list, but they, but they were not women that I was connecting with on a consistent basis. Okay. So good. I feel like there's so many people that have huge email lists that are just sitting. So that's a great example of that. And so then you joined million dollar email, what was your first impression when you joined? Like, what was the first thing where you were like, wow, can't believe I learned this or favorite framework, whatever you want to say? I really liked the weekly series because it removed the burden of having to create a freebie. I didn't want to create a freebie anymore because I had learned through experience that it wasn't really a great converter for clients. It was great to get people on your list, but we all know we pay for these lists. So it was like having hundreds of women on my list that weren't really converting that I was paying for. So when I learned about the weekly series, that took away the burden of having to come up with a freebie. And I was like, oh, okay, I don't have to come up with freebies. I can just have this standard weekly series that stands for what my program is about
and still welcome the right women in. That was an instant lightbulb for me. Yeah. And I know we've done work on your offer story as well. You had mentioned you didn't have an offer story. So how did the offer story, the messaging tool help you with your content? The offer story really was one of the things that changed the way I connected with my audience. And what I mean by that is it forced me to look at their problems microscopically. So you know, with the offer story, you break down the skill, the tool, the angles. So it really had me thinking, like, okay, what skill do they need to get married in a year? How can I turn that into emails? And I really like how every single line of the offer story can be a standalone email multiple emails, by the way. So that really helped me to create emails and something else that worked is, I really struggled before MDE with coming up with email ideas. I don't anymore. I actually
forgot about that because like you said, we've been working together for a while. I don't struggle with that anymore. I always have emails and something else is sequencing. Sequencing? Yeah, sequencing. That really changed the way not only with emails, but also how I sequence my offer. Like, when I sequence my offer, it helped me actually last year to identify a gap in terms of conversion that, oh, I sequenced it wrong. So those were some of the tools I learned in MDE that have helped a lot. So good. I remember one of the angles, like a big thing was coming up with angles for you and what makes you unique and different? What can you say that no one else is saying? And correct me if I'm wrong, but one of the angles was around like your audience was looking for someone that made more money than them. And you were like, that's the wrong thing to look for. It was something like that. And it was all with really good angles around that. And it really just helped you stand out more. Yeah. And I, because you know, there's, I know of a few
Christian dating coaches. And I really, when I was listening to you, I'm like, oh my goodness, there's so much that you could be saying that will help you stand out. And it clearly has. Yes. I would say that with angles, something else that you shared that was really helpful, that I learned in MDE is you can also experiment with angles. You can try out new angles, see how it sits. And it's a good way for me to find maybe a woman that I haven't really thought about with a specific problem. So coming up with new angles, like, you know, you get to, you can predict when you'll get married, you know, just kind of challenging the Christian doctrine and Christian thoughts by coming up with kind of controversial angles. You really pushed on that, was really helpful as well. And finally, I love that. You can predict when you get married. So good. So I love this. So you said recently, I closed clients that found me only by email and I even repurposed my emails to Instagram. And you said you closed five clients in two weeks,
which is the first time you've ever done it within that timeline. So can you tell us about that launch? 100%. So for the first time ever, I decided because again, I'm trying to, I was trying to shift my business away from being solely on, I'm mainly on Instagram. I'm still active on Instagram, but I wanted to be actively engaged with my people on email. So for that launch, for the first time, I said, I'm only doing it for two weeks. I'm going to go all in, follow the MDE strategy of how I'm sequencing my emails, get my emails reviewed. And it completely, it was low lift. It didn't stress me out. It was a very light feeling launch in terms of being able to schedule out all the emails. And it forced me as well to look at my business as a business, not as something I'm rushing through. So I know like in MDE, it's really important to submit your emails on time and make sure that you have enough time before the launch.
You have this whole breakdown of four weeks, a bonus period, and then the actual live launch period. That's really helpful in knowing, okay, what am I supposed to be saying at each exact point during that launch? And in those two weeks, I signed five clients. And you know, some of them were women that I wouldn't have been able to connect with if I hadn't sat down with the offer story and sat down with the sequencing that I learned in MDE. And something else a little hack I found is turning the emails into Instagram posts. And they converted also on Instagram, like those posts did really well. But I also followed the strategy of always posting on email first, and then posting everywhere else. So I closed the launch with five women first time I'd ever done it in two weeks. And first time I'd launched in two weeks with that strategy with email. Wow. I love it. And I love what you said about how you were able to just post it on Instagram, because it's like not only were you able to be social media optional, but you also were able to
still post if you wanted to, but with half the work, like you didn't have to create extra content, you just repurposed. Very helpful. Very helpful. Like it's something I still do, I still do it in my business. It's a real, because I've done the work with the email. And even if it's not email, it still converts. Like it is one of my highest posts that perform in a week when I use the emails that have come through the MDE strategy on my Instagram. I'm curious because people ask this a lot. Did you feel like you were a good writer when you joined or like did you struggle with copy? What was your journey with copywriting? I've been writing. I've written for blogs. I've actually written a book. So I didn't struggle with writing, but I do believe in MDE, I understood what I needed to say. What was the right answer? Like you talk about and what was relevant and how to romanticize my offer? And what does it actually look like from the client's perspective that has
never gone through this process before? So it forced me to slow down in the way I was communicating my offer and step out of the box of thinking like a writer and actually think like a coach that is talking to her clients at the point of making a sales decision, which is very specific. So MDE helped me understand this is how writing should apply in this context. This is how writing should apply when you're talking to a Christian woman that hasn't dated in years, when you're talking to a single mother that is afraid to start dating again. When you're talking to a woman that is worried that she will never find the kind of man that she's been dreaming about. MDE forced me through the offer story and through romanticizing to really sit down with those concepts and write it out in a way that would speak to that woman. Yeah, because you can be a great writer, like a great storyteller, all the things, but you need the sales copy principles to write
in a way that actually answers your client's questions like you said. 100% it's funny because I was looking at some of my emails before MDE and I can see all the gaps. But now I can see all the gaps like oh, there's no romanticizing here and oh, you need to talk about your client here and you need to follow a sequence of how your clients think because you always say follow the thought process. It's been a game changer and how are right? Yeah. So you said that you had never signed that amount of clients before. What was happening before that like we're we're sales, you know, slower in your launches, was it taking longer? Like I want to know the before. Okay, so before what I had done was I'd implemented a strategy that was not very organized. So for example, I'd have a runway of four weeks instead of two weeks. I wasn't really organized in terms of sequencing my emails or sequencing my posts. I didn't approach it like a launch.
I just it was kind of like a free for all whatever applies, however I feel. But with MDE, I learned that no, this is actually an offer you have to sit down and follow your client's brain, right? Like you say, follow their brain, follow their thoughts. So before I would still sign clients, but it will take longer. Like maybe instead of two weeks, it would probably take me four weeks. And what was interesting is for that launch, I signed my first two clients within 48 hours. That had never happened before. And that was a great confirmation for me that it doesn't have to be hard. It doesn't have to be difficult. You just need to know the right way to speak to your people. So with MDE, it really helped me to kind of shorten the timeline, which was important to me and reduce the stress of actually being able to serve my clients and serve prospective clients without feeding like, oh, you know, I'm screwed if I don't, if I don't hit my goals. So yeah. So good. I would love to know. So this is something I've been asking clients, which is kind of
funny, which is what was your objection to joining million dollar email? And how would you overcome that now? That's an interesting question. Before I joined million dollar email, I'm kind of a, I'm kind of someone that would watch content. I'm not an impulsive buyer. I would watch content. I would look for testimonials. I'd listen. You had released at the time I joined. You had released some podcast episodes where you were actually working with clients on their emails. I would listen to those. I'd listen again. And again, I'm like, oh, I didn't think about that. Oh, that's interesting. That's an interesting angle. And the experience I've had in MDE is very similar. Like you really take time to understand, okay, where's the gap here? And what do you need to change? So honestly, at the time I joined, I didn't have an objection. I just knew my business was ready for that level of intentionality. And I knew from me to build a business that was social media optional.
That was my greatest motivation to join. I needed to learn how. And you were just the best person to teach me that. So I love that. I love that. And if you're listening to this and you're like considering joining, go binge my podcast. Go binge all the emails I've sent you because you know you've gotten a lot. Go binge, go binge all the content that's so good. I'm the same. I'm a binder. I like once by the time I am sold, I'm like, I'm sold, right? Because I've listened to all the content. I've read everything I could. And to what you said about, you know, you were ready for that level of intentionality, that has actually been a frequently something that's been said frequently by my clients is I feel like when I joined million dollar email, it's like I was taking my business more seriously. I was really ready to show up differently. I was really ready to to be intentional to show up like a CEO. And that's why I always say, million dollar email is so much more than an email marketing program. It's not just a copywriting program. Like you're
really showing up to build a business that is sustainable. It's a business model decision. That social media optional. Like it's really deciding, no, I'm going to be someone who does a full campaign that doesn't just throw things together. I'm going to get better at marketing in my business. All of that. And so I love that you said that. It's like if you are ready to be intentional and you're ready to show up in your business in a million dollar way, right? And you're ready for this. Yeah. And I will say this, you know, one of the things you said I really love is send as many emails as you want. Like it's not going to your people are going to love it. And that really broke a barrier in my thinking. So now I just send emails. And what's interesting is I've gotten faster. I'm it's it's feeling more natural. Now when I initially joined the program and it's through the you know, through the work I've done here. And you're right. When I joined MBE, it was I need to take my business to the next level. Because when I'm writing the email, like literally sit down
and I write it out. And that puts you in a mindset of this is a business. This is not something you're doing for fun. This is something you're doing to change people's lives. This is something you're doing to intentionally connect with your people. And MD kind of forced me into that mindset. Yeah. I agree. Yeah. And that's the CEO mindset. Like and that's and that's why people literally always tell me it's so funny. They're always like, you know, you talk about like making your first hundred K to a million. That's crazy. And I'm like, I'm telling you something shifts in my clients. Like once they joined, they're suddenly like they're locked in. Like they just lock in. Right. And then obviously we have the marketing and sales strategies to help you actually make those sales. And it's so true. And I can't wait to see where you go. And you've come such a long way in the program. I think about like even the mindset coaching we've done, what you said about sending a lot of emails. Like you were scared of annoying your audience. You were scared of unsubscribed. So I remember you even worried like, can they even afford my offer? Like do they
I was like, you know, what do you mean? And so just get you're so much more confident in your offer. You're so much more confident in your marketing. And I'm just like, sky's the limit now. I really appreciate that. I really, I've really enjoyed the way the program has helped me to evolve in my business. And really kind of start like intentionally looking at my business as sustainable. This isn't something that, you know, I'm just doing to make some extra money like a side hustle. This is actually like part of my work and part of how I help my people. And I will say as well, Kristen, I really like the community. It's a safe space. Well calls, we are able to share transparently other clients or dropping little nuggets as well. So it's really been a healthy space for me to grow. And honestly, like looking back, I have learned a lot. I have learned so much. Thank you so much for saying that. That means a lot to me. We we really
try to make it a space that yeah, that people love to be in and that they feel comfortable in and that they can grow in. And so I'm so glad you said that. Tell people where they can find you, especially if they are looking for a Christian dating coach. Awesome. You can find me on Instagram at Fan the Flame. That's the best way to find me. Or you can just check out my name on Google Tolu Follow Day. You'll come across my content. Amazing. Thank you so much. I appreciate you and I'm so glad that we get to keep working together. Thank you, Kristen. It's lovely to be here. Bye. Thank you.
